We had a wonderful meal last night. Our server, Mary Lou, was excellent. The apple salad and the ricotta gnocchi with the guinea hen ragu were the star stand-outs. The Caesar salad was good as was the pancetta pappardelle. Pasta servings are large. We sat...inside this time in a booth and it was nice to appreciate the ambiance inside. We're glad we gave this place a second chance.More

The food, service and ambiance were exceptional! Definitely one of the best dinners we had in Half Moon Bay. Pretty authentic Italian. Our only complaint was that when we walked in, they required us to put masks on to walk to our table which was...probably a few feet from the door. Then, we sit down literally 2 feet from the guy next to us. Pretty ridiculous and annoying but I guess if you’re into that kind of lingering Covid stuff, maybe you will appreciate it.More

Started off on wrong foot. Went there on recommendation of concierge at Ritz Carlton. Arrived and was told we had to wear a mask from the hostess stand to the table. A — nobody told us. B - I dont participate in nonsensical gestures to...appease paranoid management Hostess said she could “quickly sneak us over to a table” and we went past two other tables of diners, all chatting away with no food or drink or masks to be seen. Seated at a tiny two - top (other couples were at 4 tops) with a fireplace on the wall above eye level, and what appeared to be a heart/bar with padded stools under it. Selected a wine — but the waitress needed me to point it out to her on the list because she couldn’t remember the name Manager brought the wine and we asked for recommendations and proceeded with the Fritto misto and mussels but only after asking if that wouldn’t be too much food for just the two of us. She said “oh, no, but make sure to save room for desserts since that is our speciality” A few minutes later, out came a bowl for the mussel shells and a HUGE platter of fried calamari. There was no longer any more room on the table for the impending mussels, not to mention we were shocked at the size of the portion. We flagged down a waiter to cancel the mussels since A) they would not fit on the table and B) would never be consumed if we ate even 75% of the calamari. A few minutes after our waitress returned with the mussels, telling us the kitchen already made them. Wasn’t sure where she thought she would put them, and we told her we would not be having them All the while, several other diners got up and wandered around the restaurant, sans face coverings. Two of the employees behind the bar were either wearing a chin diaper or had their noses uncovered — clearly following management’s infallible directive to stop the spread of the scourge of our planet. The manager stopped by again and we let her know we were not happy with A) being given such a small table ostensibly because we had to be snuck in for failing to follow the restaurants masking requirements which no one else seemed to be following and B) the whole fiasco with the portion size and not being able to have room on the table or in our stomach for the much anticipated mussels soon after finishing as much of the calamari as we could manage, the entrees showed up. Salmon and lasagna. now im not one with a small appetite, and it shows around my waistline, but the size of the lasagna portion was inhuman. had to be a pound at the very least while the salmon was more appropriately sized. I barely finished half the lasagna. obviously Joey Chestnut is a regular here if the manager is recommending one app per person as well as dessert after such a gargantuan entree. later the owner stopped by and we recounted our experience. Not sure where he learned his restaurateur trade, but Im pretty sure he was a graduate of “Make the Customer Wrong School of Hospitality”. Regarding the Mask Masquerade he said if he had been the one to greet us, he would have refused to seat us for not following his policy (was unclear if he would be denying us seating before or after firing the staff member who did seat us, the bar employees going unmasked or ejecting the other patrons traversing public spaces with the pie—holes spewing forth deadly contagion) Regarding the table being less than desirable — apparently we dont know when we are seated at the best table in the house because being next to an electric fireplace (in summer, not turned on, about a foot above eye level) is actually considered the front row center orchestra seating in this establishment. Regarding the unnecessary and wasteful portions in a time when a record number of Americans — though apparently no one in the nearby community — are facing food insecurity, he pointed out that his portions have been the same for 36 years without complaint (he must have minored in “This is How We’ve always Done things”) and that most of his customers are locals who know they will be taking home leftovers. I guess I should have asked the Ritz Concierge to send up a mircrowave. He was wholly unapologetic and dismissive of our concerns. We picked up a dinner to go after calling and being told they only have "To Go" on certain days? Nothing on the website about that. For one entree, salad and dessert it was $81.00. The salad was very good but the smallest salad I have...ever seen and for $18! It was listed $15 on the menu so watch the prices. The chicken was honestly terrible flavor. The cheesecake was fantastic but $81 for one meal was insane. The new building is really nice....but the prices are crazy.More

This was a family visit but I would not have picked this place if it was my choice. Everything was OK but I think we could have found better food at lower prices simply by driving 20 minutes over the hill to the peninsula. We...got excellent service and they do a great job catering to private parties.More

Great table outside. Service ok (had to ask twice to have our water refilled). Farm salad the best part of the meal. Pasta for ravioli was very tender. Now, the pizza. Dry thin crust and $24 for a medium sized pizza. Pasta starting at $32....Way over priced.More

This is my 4th visit - but first since they moved into a much larger expansive new building opposite to the older location. Definitely upscale and fine dining in a beautiful setting. We started with Frito Misto and Caesar Salad, Champagne and red wine. Bread...with olive oil and balsamic was promptly served. We both opted for the pasta: Spaghetti Putenesca with shrimp and the Linguine with Scallops. The Frito Misto was delicious - very lightly fried and can be easily shared. Both the pastas were great - but the putenesca had a nice touch of anchovy in the light red sauce. Wines are mostly Italian with limited selections from CA - my only complaint as I am more partial to CA Cabs then light Italian reds. The bar is expansive and can be an option for dinner- big screen TV and nice seating in a bar setting. Overall one of the finest restaurants in HMB.More

Service was mediocre at best,, the best of it was a busser bringing us water right away and clearing the dishes. Server, rarely seen. Food, not as good as the price point would indicate. Just meh. Not bad, just uninspired. Then to top it off,...the check arrives with an addition of 3.5% "cost of doing business in California fee". No mention of this on their website, menu nor when we made a reservation. Just tacked on to the bill at the end. No, it's not a tremendous amount, but patrons should be informed in some fashion. Or better yet, just raise the price of your offerings by 3.5%. What a crock. May border on being illegal I think.More

The menu leaves nothing to desire. The pizza was thin crusted and delicious. The lasagna was very good, but perhaps too much meat, especially the sausage being over-powering. Tagliatelle bolognese was excellent and there are some reasonable wine selections. Service was not good and we...waited 10 minutes before a server was flagged down. Great dining space, very spacious, quaint and open to the kitchen.More

As long-term local and business executive, I have spent >>$1000s at Pasta Moon over the years. Quality of food and service have dramatically declined recently, but I wanted to give it another chance. Went to Pasta Moon after local play for early dinner for 2....We didn't have reservation, but host reviewed restaurant status and seated us. Waiters took our drink orders, delivered bread, and took our very expensive dinner order. We were then confronted by a tall man with white hair who didn't introduce himself, but demanded our reservation information, as if we had snuck in the back door and taken the table without permission. We explained our situation and he rudely told us to leave, as he wanted to give our table to someone else. There are many other local restaurants in Half Moon Bay and Pacifica where they appreciate your business, in addition to having far better food and service.More

The evening started with a couple glasses of wine and I ordered some olives to go with them. The wine arrived but no olives. Our waiter (Jose C) didn't show back up for another 20 minutes. My wife's pasta and my lamb dish were both...excellent but the waiter struggled in getting back in time to have a second glass of wine. After I asked for the bill Jose again disappeared for about 15 minutes and when he returned he asked "Anything else?". Anyway, the food was great and hopefully they get the service figured out.More

Great restaurant and staff, menu is solid, cool drinks. My pork chop was undercooked which is a huge turn off when dealing with pork. Given the overall, I did not expect over/under cooking to be an issue

Not from the restaurant because it’s on Main St. Which is lined with shops on both sides of the street. You should drive about 1/2 - 3/4 mile down Kelly St. To see the sunset.

Pasta Moon is a very nice restaurant with ambiance, excellent food and service. Not a tourist trap at all -- and is indeed a place for special occasions.
