We’ve been here a few times and each time the food is consistent and delicious. Mixed feelings on a review. I think they can do better. The location is stellar. The atmosphere is a huge draw, it’s directly on the sand with a nice outdoor patio. Nice bar area too. The menus are so expensive so it’s not for the “faint of wallet.” Lunch is a bit cheaper. The dinner menu could use a few more non-seafood items. Pastas and chicken would be an improvement as well as some lower priced items. It’s a romantic beachfront restaurant but too expensive. For 2 hamburgers, 2 glasses of crappy wine and a soda it was $100 including tip and valet parking. They charged $4 extra to give a mini garden salad with burger instead of their $12 French fries, made no sense. But, the hamburgers are delicious and we love the restaurant so it’s a tough one to review, we eat out a lot and it was not a $100 meal even though the view is nice. Clearly it’s a mixed bag here. For this reason it’s 3-4 stars, not 5...the value isn’t fully there. We love it and will return even though we feel it’s not a good value. Last, on previous visits the wait staff were great, this time, they seemed a little overworked and not as mindful to our table. Would really love to see some menu diversification with more non-seafood items A few lower price entrees would make the restaurant more accessible to couples coming out for a special occasion who are willing to spend a little extra for a great meal without needing a second mortgage.

We had a wonderful experience and delicious food at the Pacific Coast Grill. This restaurant is right on the beach with beach access to take a stroll after a delicious meal and friendly fast service. We sat outside and had warmers to keep us cozy as we listened the waves while eating. We had a wonderful soup after enjoying the guacamole and chips appetizer along with some calamari. This restaurant is pet friendly in the outdoor dining area. We highly recommend you use the valet parking as it is only $6 and hassle free! If you are looking for a place to eat, relax and listen to the waves, this is a great place. We even saw dolphins and a whale while eating our brunch.

Extremely happy we picked PCG to celebrate our Grandson and his wife’s 1st wedding anniversary. The valet parking for $6.00 is a plus because on the weekend it is not easy to locate parking along Coast Highway. We were greeted immediately and acknowledged that we were celebrating an anniversary. We asked to be seated on the upstairs patio beside the glass which gave us an unobstructed view of the beach and ocean. Our server, Cole, was efficient, helpful and friendly. The 4 of us ordered 3 different entrees and they were all very good. Filet minon steaks ordered medium and cooked perfectly. The bread pudding and caramel apple pie desserts were warm and delicious. As we were leaving, we noticed that on the downstairs patio dogs must be allowed.
We will definitely return to the Pacific Coast Grill.

We dined here twice during our week in San Diego - all tables were outside due to COVID restrictions, but this was preferred because it looks directly out over the beach. First night we ate around 7pm then walked to the beach for sunset, but the second night we ate around 8pm and were able to watch the sunset from our table, and then enjoy dessert in the dark under their heat lamp. View is spectacular and you can watch the surfers catching their last few waves of the day.
Food here is great and you cannot beat the location and atmosphere, but it is also a little pricey. We tend to park up the hill a ways as to avoid having to do Valet Parking or paying for beach parking, so be sure to plan time in advance to figure out what to do with your vehicle. Staff is very friendly (aside from front of the house) and attentive! We can't wait to come back!

I always find a nice selection for lunch, several in fact from appetizers to salads, but not for dinner. Neither my husband nor I can eat shellfish and the menu is heavy on this, seldom do I order chicken or meat (so overpriced and tasteless compared to mine). So if I go, I’ll continue to visit for lunch for their wider selection. Good service, nice views.

This was a new spot for me though I have visited Encinitas and Cardiff many times throughout my life. The valet parking is a bit off putting for the frugal foodie that I am but don’t let it dissuade you from going! There’s free parking just north in the beach parking lot. We ate upstairs and the beautiful bar on the second floor overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The service is first class as are to craft cocktails and incredible cuisine. We HIGHLY recommend the dumplings as well as the fresh oysters. Pro tip: you’re going to want some bread to soak up the delicious port wine sauce... it’s divine!

This was pretty much a perfect dining experience! We arrived a little early for our 7:30 reservation, and asked for outdoor patio seating. The hostesses, Natasha and Ashlyn, (hope I spelled those correctly) said that if we wanted to wait, that something would come open soon. In what seemed like no time at all, we were summoned back inside, and led to a great table right on the sand. The Sun was just setting and it was beautiful! Our server, Jenna, might be the best server in California. She should definitely be in the discussion, as her timing was flawless, she was patient, knowledgable, and friendly! We ordered a sushi roll as an appetizer, and it was delicious! My companion ordered the Sea Bass and I ordered the Salmon. The presentation on both was superb! And the food tasted even better than it looked. She loved the Sea Bass, and I was absolutely delighted with the Salmon. She also ordered a Latte, which she was quite happy about, while I sampled the extensive drinks list. I ended up ordering a Blackberry Margarita, which was delicious, then followed up with my favorite, Corralejo Reposado on the rocks. They have an extensive selection of quality Tequila! The bus boys were on point as well, their timing was spot on. The dessert menu was too good to pass up, we decided to share a Dark Chocolate Custard. There was plenty to share, and it was amazing! The vibe was awesome, as appartently everyone was having as much fun as we were. The General Manager should be very proud, the place has only been back open three weeks, and they have everything perfected! I will definitely be back! Reservations are highly recommended! Not surprsingly, the place was packed!

We ate here for our anniversary and it is literally right on the beach! The menu has something for everyone. My husband had fish and I had the shortrib, both of which were prepared beautifully and also were delicious. LOTS of margaritas, it's hard to choose. And the baby beet salad is scrumptious.

We were seated upstairs. The noise level was unbelievable. We couldn’t hear each other across a small table and the wait staff had difficulty hearing our order. When the food arrived I noticed there was no difference in taste or texture of my fish or the mashed potatoes. I tried some of the tuna my dinner mate ordered. It tasted like it had Hawaiian sweet sauce on it which certainly wasn’t what the menu described. There was an excellent ocean view, but I wouldn’t go back for the food most of which we both left on our plates.

We’ve been to the Pacific Coast Grill before, so it was an easy choice for a special dinner. As before, the food was excellent, service efficient and friendly, and the views exceptional. What made this visit stand out was the treatment of our 20 month old grandson. His food was out in minutes, keeping him occupied and fed, while the adults could relax and enjoy dinner. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that special attention for little people, and it was appreciated.

This restaurant is in the perfect location right on the sand. They do offer valet parking for $6.00 for those with dining reservations. We had dinner here outside on the upstairs patio. The setting was very nice and we enjoyed our time. The food was good and the presentation was nice. Service was fine. Not over the top excellent but sufficient.
I would return for another visit.

From the enthusiastic valet service to the bread pudding this was a very pleasant dining experience. The salad was large enough to share and very crisp and fresh. We were disappointed, however, that there is no bread served at this restaurant!! The explanation given didn't really make sense...something about non-safe practices to bake the bread and yet tortillas were made by hand presumably...anyway, the ribs were succulent but very "saucy" and a tad sweet. The fries they came with were divine. As it was my birthday I got a complimentary bread pudding that was out of this world! As Arnold would say, "I WILL BE BACK!" :-)

The restaurant was a 15 minute walk from my cousin's home, who highly recommended one of his favourite places. The beachfront location is amazing. There was a fairly high level of noise in the restaurant, because it was Sunday at lunch and this place is deservedly popular. The quality of the food and the service was very good. The price was reasonable given the quality of the experience.

I highly recommend the patio (it is heated) for dining if the weather allows. You get the ocean breeze and can hear the waves, just yards away. The food was incredible and the service was outstanding. They have a nice menu and have some great off menu specials regularly. You won't be disappointed.

Great view of the ocean. Reservation honored with no problem and the service was fine. Seating was quite tight and a high table for four was noticeably inadequate, once food was served. We had a variety of appetizers to include sushi roll, lobster and shrimp chowder and shrimp dumplings. Lobster and shrimp chowder was uninspiring, not much of a seafood taste, shrimp dumplings were alright, but not memorable, sushi roll was good. So 1 for 3. Prices for lunchtime appetizers were a bit high compared to restaurants of this style.
