Beautiful place, beautiful view but they should consider half-sized portions Having missed their famous weekend brunch, my friend and I decided to brave waiting and went to Balay Dako for lunch. Nearly all of the menu was made for groups of 4 or more. I...don’t know what the rationale was for this but we went ahead and ordered anyway. For rice, we had bagoong rice with green mango, a classic northern Philippine dish. This was to be the base for the baby squid dish that was well cooked and seasoned. Since tawilis was not in season, we ordered deep fried asohos instead. In theory, one would have eaten this whole, bones and all, but it wasn’t fried enough to render the bones easy to break down and swallow. It turned out to be a finicky dish to eat. Service was overall good but a change in the shift somehow gave us a weird ending to our lunch, as the new waiter actually REFUSED to serve us when he was told by his colleague to assist us in billing. This entire interaction happened in front of us. One meal was enough to convince me to never dine here again.More

Balay Dako has a lovely seating area on the top floor (both indoor and outdoor) providing the best view of the captivating Taal Volcano. Bar well stocked. We ordered the Bulalo good for 3-4 ppl. The meat was tender, the vegetables are fresh and the...broth is well seasoned and full of flavours - certainly the best bulalo we’ve had. Visited in April 2024, on a (local) bank holiday. Whilst the place was heaving, we were looked after by Kristine. Service very good, food and drinks all quick, the rest of the staff attentive and helpful. Parking free onsite. A must visit when in Tagaytay.More

We are regular customers that we usually visit weekend buffet monthly with my family.usually 4-6 adults.we visited last week and we are dissapointed on the rule that my 3yo daughter need to pay 900 which is unreasonable. Unlike on our previous months we visited. They...do not reply in messenger. Need to train the staff in customer service so that they know how to greet and smile. Rosario by Vikings is far better than Balay Dako.More

The wait was extremely long. Totaling to 3 hours. The food was good. Their muffins were sweet. The iced tea also was good and the fruits were fresh. They have fresh corn beef as well but their hot chocolate is a bit bitter. The taho...was ordinary. You can make your own omelette and fried rice by choosing ingredients from a wide variety of different things. They have coffee as well and an amazing view.More

we went there 29 dec 2023 for a buffet bfast..well the only thing nice about this place is the ambiance..people went there for pictorials, other than that the food are: below par- burnt bacon, salty corned-beef from leftovers (they didn't serve their signature c-beef on...this day but instead a regular ham (which you can also find anywhere), oily fried rice..or if opting for a custom fried rice you can approach the omelette section but unfortunately after repeated attempt to order various fried rice combination the ingredients remain uncooked which is not sauted well, unreplenished pastries..average filipino rice cakes saved by the brewed coffee i ended up with so much leftover food to spare even their 'pasalubongs' are awful..maybe people are excited bringing home a paper bag with their brand name instead if you want to get a hearty morning fix or brunch go somewhere else..they do not deserve a value of more than P1k for that kind of meal..definitely a forgettable place to visitMore

The prices soar greatly from last visit many years ago. The weekday visit is a favorite with almost no crowd and queue to fight with. The food prep and presentation were highly noticeable, loved the way they give the layers of taste onto one dish....Very healthy and thoughtful only the health conscious will noticed. The service were very good! The Quezo ice cream is to die for! I will comeback for this definitely!More

very good food served generously. 13 of us feasted on their crispy pata, bulalo with refillable soup, palabok, paella, baby squid, fried chicken and many more. we could not finish all the food. some of the dishes need to be brought home for dinner. their...desserts, e.g., ice cream, ginumis, year--round puto bumbong & halo-halo were sooo yummy. balay dako is an institution for the gastronomic savvy. it does not disappoint despite being too pricey. just bring along a lot of patience during peak hours. the only thing that is not dako here is the parking space.More

Fantastic Filipino food. They were full! But still service was great. Parking a problem but thats because of the large number of customers. When you have that many people lining up to eat, they must be good! Such a plus that they're pet friendly as...well! Great service and talk from Erwin, Marc and Carlos.More

Our family took a chance at going to Balay Dako as recommended by the bellhops at the hotel we had just checked in at. I was curious, being an Ilonggo, as to how a place with an Ilonggo name came to be in Tagaytay where...Tagalog is spoken. When we arrived at Balay Dako, we were very impressed by the size of the place. Balay Dako means large (dako) house (balay) in Ilonggo. The setting was just beautiful and the grounds and building were very well kept. It was meant to be reminiscent of a large family house from decades past. Luckily, we were there on a Tuesday afternoon and we were able to avoid the usual weekend crowds. I would estimate that it only took us about 20 to 25 minutes to get seated at a table by the window with a great view of Taal. The menu can be deceiving since we order kare kare and kansi amongst other dishes. The size of the bowl was very large and was full. I travelled all the way from Iloilo just to try one of the best kansi that I have ever tried. The servers were very attentive to our every need. The service at Balay Dako was great. Our family will be back for more at a later date. Eating at Balay Dako is a must when you come to Tagaytay.More

Their FB page says that they are but that post was from 2021. Of course, pets shouldn't be off leash, I think. I didn't see any pets when I visited there last. Sorry, that I can't be of any more help.
