It is one of the best restaurants in El Chalten, with excellent value for money. I recommend making a reservation or going early for dinner (around 7pm) otherwise you won't find a seat. The atmosphere is welcoming and familiar, you can have good soups, meat dishes or mixed salads, the desserts are also good. We were there two evenings, one evening I had the guanaco stew, the next evening a 400 gram bife de chorizo (sirloin), truly exceptional, tender and cooked just right, the best I ate in Argentina. I advise!

A great lowkey dinner spot. The interior is decorated nicely. We felt we were eating a family member's home. The restaurant is family run and the owner seems to take great pride in the quality of the restaurant.

The best restaurant I have went to in Argentina! The staff is super friendly and helpful and the food absolutely delicious. They have lots of vegetarian and some vegan options, the deserts are yummy. Also if you want to change money for example Euros to Pesos they had the best rate. Just a wonderful restaurant with a cozy lovely atmosphere, definitely recommend it!!

The food and the wine (glass of housewine) is delicious! We had the beef and it was really tastefull. 1 portion is enough for 2 persons, that how big the beef is. The entourage is minimal but the food makes everything worth it!

Perfect antidote to fast food. Fantastic home cooked traditional menu. I had a delicious chicken stew, which was great comfort food after hiking. The staff were attentive and helpful. The wine list is small but we had a lovely bottle of Llama Tivo Malbec - Argentinian of course!

Originally a sheep-shearing shed and one of the oldest buildings in El Chalten, this lovely old restaurant does typical Argentinian food. The lamb casserole was delicious and the steak and chips also very good.

although the Argentinian stew was interesting, the place felt... cold and unfriendly, something I've never felt in Argentina. Perhaps I was tired after a long hike...

It’s a friendly and inviting restaurant offering a range of food, including local dishes. Quality is average with higher prices than you might expect.

I went to La Senyera in part because of the large number of positive votes it had received and I must say it is not worth it. While the service is nice and the setting quite inviting, the quality of the food is rather mediocre. In particular, the 450g steak - quite a large piece of meat indeed - was pretty chewy if not hard, probably due to a poor cooking job, and the sides (fries and some tiny salad) disappointing to say the least. Whilst the whole dinner was certainly not very expensive compared to European or US standards, it was definitely on the pricier side for El Chalten standards and I can testify that you can get much better value for money in other places in town.

"La Senyera" is a family-managed and very traditional place to eat in El Chálten, that is located into an old sheep Shearing barn from the 1900's. We tried to visit it a couple of years ago on Autumn, but it wasn't open (I don't know if they actually open at low seasons), but we were luckier this last Spring, after some days trying, to be finally able to visit it (the opening hours are a little confuse, especially for those who are out on trails most of the day). The place itself have a simple decoration, and a cordial service, just a bit on the slow side (maybe because the house was almost full). They have a very extensive menu with very good prices: it includes a quite good variety of dishes between vegetarian (mains, salads and burgers), many types of empanadas, meats and traditional Argentine dishes, stews and desserts among other things. You get as a free starter a basket of delicious warm homemade bread with a garlic paste. We decided to order a Saffron with Chicken Risotto and a Carbonada (traditional stew with beef, corn, pumpkin, peaches, carrots, sweet potatoes, rice and vegetables), that arrived quickly, in around 15 min. Both were good, with a nice size and a simple presentation, more comfort-food like - but both lacked a little seasoning (salt). For dessert we ordered the traditional Martin Fierro (sweet potato preserve with cheese slices) and a Pastellito (pie of quince preserve, in our case); both were very good with an exotic flavor (to those that aren't used to regional desserts). We wished to try other regional dishes but we weren't so hungry at the day. Overall, it is a nice place to visit, if you manage to see it open and with vacant places to seat, especially if you look for some comfort-food dishes with lots of vegetarian or local cuisine choices, beside some unusual desserts that are different from what most of the places serve in the city. The prices are very good and the portions are also good - we paid at the time, with beverages included something around 15-20US$ (they don't charge service).

We went fo dinner. They have a nice argentinian menu, with the classic meat (chorizzo) dish, but also some typical food; They serve vegetarin and vegan food. A nice collection of wines and local beers. The owner makes you feels at home. A very good place to dinner.

Good stew and empanadas... comfort food, comfortable atmosphere... style and service in line with the relaxed nature of this little tourist town...

This is the type of restaurant where you get good home-cooked food, decent service and a cozy atmosphere. It is evidently popular and when we arrived we had a five minute wait for a table. The waitress must have an impeccable memory because she services the entire restaurant. I ordered a medium rare Bife de Chorizo. It took a bit of time to come out and when I received it, I understood why. The piece of meat must have been about 500 grams; it was thick as well. A piece of meat that large usually requires searing in a pan and then finishing it in an oven so it doesn't become overcooked. I was honestly a bit apprehensive about cutting it open because I did not know what to expect. Well, it was perfect, the entire thing was medium rare! That skill needs to be brought to the 5* restaurants in the US and UK. The meat was fantastic as well with a very buttery texture, no gristle and a mild smoky finish. The best bife de chorizo I had in Argentina. This is the place to go if you want a huge steak cooked the right way. Sadly, I discovered this place on our last night otherwise I would have gone back.

We wanted to have dinner here last night and thought the restaurant opened at 6 pm. We were there a few minutes after 6 but the restaurant was still closed. The lady preparing things behind the bar did see us but did not come to the door to inform us what time the restaurant would open, we left. This review is only to inform other travelers the restaurant does not open at 6
