About
We are a family run restaurant and coffee shop that offers local produce as well as products made here on the farm; such as cheeses, skyr, icecream and our own beef. We buy all fresh local vegetables from the county and make our foods from scratch, using traditional Icelandic styles with a modern twist. We are located along the Golden Circle route 37, so if you are travelling in the area, please feel free to stop by for some ice cream or for something to eat. We are a walk in only restaurant, so no need to book unless you have a large group The Efstidalur Family

This was a nice stop on our Golden Circle Tour. The ice cream was yummy and we rested at the tables with a nice view of their farm animals. Ice cream was $10.03 USD total for 1 x two scoops cone and 1 x one-scoop cone. Stop in here for a nice treat.

We stopped off here tonight to get ice cream however once we saw the restaurant menu, we decided to stay for dinner too! Hubby & I both had burgers and they were probably two of the nicest burgers we have ever eaten. It was nice to know the origins of the beef although it was slightly disconcerting to sit eating our burger whilst looking down into the cow sheds where our burgers living relatives were happily eating their own food!! If you’re doing a Golden Circle self drive tour, definitely stop here for reasonably priced food which is farm to plate. Oh & the ice cream was amazing too!

Delicious burgers +incredibly nice staff! ‘Farmers’ burgers were brilliant, but the chips a little undercooked. Kids burgers are the same size as the adults- great for teens as half price. There is a big window showing the beautiful cows but if you feel squeamish whilst eating your burger maybe ask for a table slightly further away. Downstairs there is a delicious ice cream parlour. Recommend !!

Restaurant on the first floor serves very good food. On ground floor you can have coffee and homemade icecream. Nice view on the Farm and cows from top of Restaurant and inside of the café. Salted Carmel icecream is made with Iceland salt. strawberrie icecream is made of strawberries from Iceland. Can recommend both.

We came here with 3 adults, 2 children after it being recommended to us. Burger place with prices ranging between 2800-4000ISK. Big window displaying the gorgeous cows, so if you feel squeamish about looking at what you eat, ask for a table further away. Veggie burgers were sold out by 7:30pm, and the fries were a little undercooked, but the farmer’s burgers were brilliant. Kids got cheeseburgers which were almost the same size - thoroughly enjoyed!!

Expensive and not worth it! Complained about the food and got attitude and rude feedback from a staff member. Paid over 13.000kr for the food. Ordered medium rare steak but it was overcooked, and the burger was cold. Ordered all food at the same time but had to wait 5min after they served everything else, for the childrens meatballs with they served last?! and wanted to get a refund but they said they could just give us a 700kr worth icecream instead… ridiculous

I've enjoyed lots of burgers and ice cream, but never right beside the creatures that make them! That's right. You can enjoy a delicious Farmer's burger and Mixed Bag Candy ice cream while watching cows munch on their own treats. The burger was very good with a sesame bun and special sauce (mayo and ketchup). The fries were crispy and seasoned well with a cup of ketchup on the side. Two soft drinks were included (Pepsi products). They also made burgers with or without toppings if you wanted. For dessert, there were a lot of flavors to choose from and you could see where it is made. I enjoyed a cup with a mixed candy scoop. It literally had all kinds of candy thrown in (licorice, chocolate, etc.). My husband enjoyed chocolate and Oreo scoops. It was so fun to watch the cows eat. There even baby cows!

We stopped because we hadn’t seen much like it and were glad we did. We had 3 ice creams (1 including a waffle) and it was £15 so quite pricey but all 3 were delicious. They had a great range of flavours and you could see the cows that the milk came from and also in to the kitchen. Friendly staff and clean environment. Well worth a look. If ice creams not for you they did have a coffee menu

Our meal and ice cream were very good, however if I were to go again I'd skip the meal because the menu was limited to hamburgers and one salad. The hamburgers and fries were great (best French fries we had in Iceland), but if I didn't come to Iceland to eat burgers and fries. So if you are looking for a more diverse menu, you'll need to go elsewhere.

The front desk at our hotel recommended Efstidalur and it did not disappoint. It's a simple menu where you place order at a counter and meal is delivered to your table. A couple of varieties of burgers and a few other options. Burgers are amazing. Beef is from cattle raised on their farm. After dinner be sure to get their fresh ice cream made from milk from their cows as well.

The ice cream is homemade and good, if not spectacular. The cafe is right to to their barn with a window looking into the barn, so you can see the cows eating, and baby calves! There're also two cute dogs in the parking lot, so beware and don't run them over, as they're quite friendly and curious. Great place for a break.

We were driving the Golden Circle and decided to stop here for a rest and ice cream. The cafe is easily accessed (up a steep driveway from the main road and then there is ample parking right outside the cafe). A clean and pleasant cafe. Well thought out with views of the cows in the barn. Lots of seating. Fresh ice cream with lots of flavours to choose from. We had 2 scoops. Reasonable prices. Recommend as a nice stop and rest.

This a farm that has decided to provide tourists with an opportunity to eat freshly made ice-cream , skyr and much more. You can see the produce being made as well as sharing your wonderful ice-cream with the cows next door through glass windows. Cool. We are used a great Ice-cream from Switzerland but this was just as good , very creamy. Great place to stop and chill.

This cafe is super cute and you can watch the cows below while you eat if you want to. The service was great, and we enjoyed the food and the ice-cream as well. The ice-cream is on the lower level, and you go upstairs if you want to eat food at the restaurant. We would definitely come back if in the area again!

We just googled a place nearby to eat and we ended up here. It was a funny experience to end up at a farm and eat in a restaurant where you literally look from above to the cows. I can imagine that this can be difficult for some people but to be honest, we were okay with it and could laugh about it. You can also sit more into the restaurant where you will not see the cows. The hamburgers and the fries were delicious and the service was great!
