Everything was just perfect. The staff was super friendly in the restaurant.
We were the only ones there for a late lunch but the waiter did not race us and let us enjoy our time. He had a nice chat with us.
The chef prepared our food and it was amazing!
As the portions were too big for us we asked for a doggy bag and it was not a problem, this way we enjoyed our meal the next day again and it was still very nice.
The menu has lots of delicious choices and the restaurant looks very need and luxurious.

On our trip around Iceland our last stop was in Hveragerdi to get some lunch before we headed home. We tried many things on our trip some good and some bad, some fair priced and some expensive. When in Hveragerdi there were couple of places that were both newer and more popular but we decided to go for the Hotel Ork restaurant. I am not a big fan of hotel restaurants because most of the time they fail the test, similar to airports where you do not expect much. This one however was totally opposite. When we came to the restaurant there were no diners there so the first impression was maybe this is not what we are looking for. We decided to stay and ordered our tagliatelle with vegetables and tagliatelle with shellfish. Our daughter got a sandwich with ham and cheese without the ham and guess what they added cheese in stead. Our both pasta dishes were delicious lot of variation of ingredients and the portion was big. Creamy, tasty and well served. What topped the lunch was the fair price of the courses which came as a surprise. I am sorry to say that many restaurants in the countryside of Iceland tend to rip off people but here it was not so. We were so surprised and happy with this last around Iceland meal we had to complement the chef and if they keep him then this place is going to benefit long term. We will at least be back more than once to test the other dishes. Well done Hver.

My husband and I were on a multi day tour that took us to the Ork Hotel. We decided to try the Hver Restaurant in the hotel. The main course menu was limited with salmon, lamb, beef tenderloin and a vege option. We both opted for the salmon. It was perfectly cooked, moist but done. Besides being served with the barley, pickled cucumber and delicious white wine sauce as described, it was served with perfectly cooked roasted broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini and red pepper veges with nice spring greens
The included bread rolls were crispy on the outside, warm and fresh on the inside. The service was excellent. I can highly recommend Hver Restaurant at Ork Hotel.
By the way, price wise it was good 4,250 ISK per salmon dish. The main was filling enough where we did not need a starter or dessert .
Chardonnay from Chile wine was very good while maybe expensive vs what we pay in US. But it was worth it. Bottle was a little over $51 US

We stayed 3 nights at hotel örk and had dinner at verk on our first night (Saturday). Both my husband and I chose the fish of the day and our daughter had the kids pasta with cheese sauce and ham.
The food arrived very fast - also in more than one way, as the waitress just slammed the plates in front of us, without even a “enjoy”, she was gone, even before we could ask for some salt. The fish was delicious, perfectly cooked and the sides were tasty as well. Prices are reasonable (at least if you’re used to prices in Denmark)
Verk also has happy hour from 4-6 every day, and the drinks are very good, we tried a lot of different ones and standard was good for all.

Food was excellent. I had Black Char, which is actually a pink fish, like sea trout. Carpaccio starter really good. My husband had salmon starter which was very tasty and then seafood pasta which was tasty. The downside was the service; which was not attentive and totally laid back. My husband would have liked black pepper and a spoon. Finished his course and still hadn’t managed to get anyone’s attention! Shame as food was so good.

At the suggestion of the diners at a nearby table we ended up ordering hamburgers, which were absolutely delicious. Our friend got soup and salmon sandwiches. I think she was jealous! Before going to the hotel we tried two other restaurants, which both stopped serving dinner by 9:00. The kitchen at HVER is open until 10:00, which can make a big difference after a long day of sightseeing.

Hveragerdi is a fairly small town, and we didn't want to venture far from our rental apartment for the first night's dinner in town. We walked to Hver, quicky realizing it is a hotel restaurant popular with tour buses. That said, I had the slow-roasted lamb, my kiddo had fish and chips, and my wife had carpaccio and soup, plus the table had icecream and a cheese plate for dessert. All of us left satisfied, so no real complaints. Service was decent too, if a little slow.

Iceland has many places better than this for dinner. The sound environment is like that of a utilitarian canteen. The furniture is worn. The food is lack-lustre and the wine is poor. We had the set menu, which was certainly filling: langoustine soup, duck breast and chocolate melt with ice cream. It sounds good, and was reasonable value (for Iceland), but we have done so much better elsewhere.

Was much better than the reviews from 2020-2022 so they must have upgraded the kitchen and/or staff. Nice room with tables well spaced so the noise level was low. The langostino soup and the salmon on a bed of barley were excellent. Somewhat limited menu which one could expect in this small town. 4-star rather than 5 since the lamb dish was over cooked. Expensive but that’s the name of the game in Iceland.

How this restaurant has 4,5, I will never know.
Bread was like rubber and had to be sent back, and the chicken pasta was average at best, with two pieces of salad leafes thrown on top with no effort to make it even look good.

Visited here over Christmas with my whole family 10 in total can't emphasize enough how attentive and helpful and accomodating they where to all tastebuds and allergens food was delicious staff very friendly and service excellent
