Excellent cafe (the best in our opinion) on Aitutaki especially for vegetarian diners. Good variety, good service and reasonable value. Friendly helpful staff. Plenty of excellent options for non-vegetarian dinners. In between trying other options it quickly became our most preferred place to eat. They...are also open for breakfast and dinner.More

Excellent all round. The food is amazing, we had the Poke bowls which were delicious. So fresh and interesting flavours. Cocktails great too! There was only 1 waitress on the busy night but service was excellent. We hadn't bought enough cash and they were quite...happy for us to come back the next day and pay. A chance to try out their berry smoothie which was a meal in it's self. Setting is lovely.More

Fabulous, fabulous cafe in the beautiful countryside. We went twice - the food is next level. I am vegetarian and they had plenty of options. Apparently the fish tacos were to die for!

Avatea Café is simply outstanding! The owner is delightful and inventive! Thank you Karin for a wonderful meal and experience. I don't want to start a debate, but in my humble opinion, Avatea Café outshines it's competitors. Yes Pacific Resort, I'm looking at you! Avatea...has the best food on the island.More

What a delightful little restaurant, run entirely by women (the chef is 19!) with delicious food, great service and a low-key informal atmosphere.

Wonderful local menue and friendly staff. Try the Ika Mata (raw tuna in coconut milk). Nice setting in Tauto village on the eastern side of Aitutaki. Exellent drinks and whatch out for huge desserts, feeds two easily. If you go all in with cocktail, starter,...mains, dessert, coffie and a bottle of wine, you pay around NZD180 per couple. Good value.More

We visited Avatea cafe twice. The first time was for lunch - they had a fantastic selection of gluten free options and the portion size was HUGE! Honestly I had to explain that the meal was yummy I just couldn’t fit it all in because...my plate looked like I’d hardly touched it! The second time we went back for dinner. Again the good was great & the atmosphere was really nice too with a local musician playing that night. The staff here were great both visits - so friendly & helpful. We definitely recommend a trip here… at least once 😉More

We were lucky to travel with friends who knew how good this spot was and we were not disappointed. The food is fresh and delicious and the menu was perfect for what we all loved. My husband is a curry fiend and said the fish...curry was the best he had had anywhere! Home made naan bread and taco's were amazing. The staff were friendly and the service was quick and professional. We had lunch and dinner over a couple of days and absolutely recommend you visit this spot :)More

The most insane fish tacos ever! Very unique and I am not craving them until next year's visit!!!! Never had anything like them before, and I love to eat tacos! Cute gift shop and extremely friendly service.

We went looking for this place after all the good reviews on trip advisor and we're very glad we did. This cafe is a great new addition to the island's eateries with a menu crammed with mouth watering items, a handy souvenir shop and their...own brewery which produces a great, thirst quenching lager. The lager has not yet been named so we were asked for suggestions. Ours was ‘ōrotē lager (holiday lager) which seems apt for the island. We'll have to come back to discover what it ended up being called!More

Go here early in your holiday so you'll have time to re-visit this gem of a café. Miso prawns on bruschetta was a fantastic lunch. All the other orders coming out of the kitchen looked equally yummy.

This is a nice family friendly cafe set in the middle of the island so not near the beach. It has a nice friendly homely vibe - a bit like going to a bbq at your pal’s house. The service was friendly and casual. The...setting is pleasant. The food was good and all 4 of us were happy with our experience. It’s a nice change of pace.More

We were out exploring and came across this place, so glad we did. Prawn pizza is amazing (all pizzas were good) In fact all meals were good, so good we came back the next day for dinner. Would definitely recommend you stop by.

Open for 3 meals each day! Best fish taco I have eaten in a long time! Definitely have a passion fruit cocktail! Island nights ✅. We struck a jazz night as well, great fun. Shop attached with a variety of goodies!

I raed about the Avatea Cafe in a FlyLife magazine article on fly fishing the 'town flats" in Aitutaki. Great garden setting, live music on Friday evening and great salads (mostly home grown) and the "1/4 pounder". Wow what a burger.
