we love this dinner spot!Every time we travel to San Jose we make a beeline to have their chicken cannelloni and lasagna. it is muy delicioso!!! it’s a quaint spot that seems to reminisce of a small mom and pop diner but in the big city vibe. Servers are always atttentive and dinner for two is under $40 witha glass of wine …if you split one of their large ceases salads. Pura vida my friends!!

The restaurant is charming, the waitstaff delightful, and the food is so delicious we ate there twice! Handmade pasta in house by an ex-pat Italian who also knows his way around delicious sauces. They have a great selection of wines and the best tiramisu we've ever had. Most of the waiters speak both Spanish and English, and the menu is in both languages, but to our surprise some of them also spoke Italian. There is also a shop attached where you can buy their housemade pastas and other Italian delights. I will definitely be back! Absolutely loved it!

OMG. Just happened upon this wonderful restaurant that makes it own pasta. Our server Jimmy, who is from Albania, was friendly, attentive and had the kitchen make special dishes for us not on the menu. You can also buy the pasta dried to take hone. It is located in the center of San Jose. We had a table with a window into the kitchen. Everything was made fresh and the kitchen was spotless.

Perhaps we’re spoilt with loads of great Italian food in the uk, but we left here feeling disappointed. We were in San Jose for 1 night at the end of our holiday in Costa Rica and chose to walk to this restaurant from our hotel on the basis of the good reviews. Food was average at best. Ordered wine by the glass which was a very small glass of cheap tasting wine. Service felt quite impersonal and rushed. We were sat for several minutes when we arrived without a menu. Price was around $80 for 2 courses each and 3 small glasses of wine between us.

Wonderful service and food within a stone’s throw of the Jade Museum. We had no reservation on a Wednesday lunchtime and they filled up very quickly after we arrived. Staff were absolutely wonderful to our two boys (8 and 10) and the food matched. I had the Osso Bucco ravioli, my kids had spaghetti and pizza, my wife had the caprese salad. All were terrific.

My boyfriend and I ate at this restaurant last night. We had Caprese Salad, pasta with pesto, and margherita pizza. It was amazing!! The pasta was made fresh at the restaurant. You could see the kitchen through large glass windows & the pizza maker was upfront displaying his talents. We loved the food & highly recommend it if you feel like Italian food while in San Jose. The server also deserves mention. He was attentive, bilingual, and seemed to do it all. Wonderful little restaurant.

If you are hungry, this is not the restaurant to go for. Poorly served risotto, very small quantity, in a flat dish, and expensive. 30 dollars after, I was still hungry and quite frustrated. The sad realization that more often than not, restaurants in Costa Rica are overpriced and do not prime for the quality of what they serve, is a reality. I was given a 10% discount after complaining, but my stomach still felt unsatisfied.

We went on a Thursday evening without reservations & were immediately seated, although within a few minutes the dining area was full & we noticed people at the door being told to come back in 30” or so. We both had the caesar salad, & it came in a delicious baked parmesan bowl. I had the eggplant parmesan, & hubby had the sea bass. Both entrees were delicious!

We chose Sapore randomly for a Sunday evening meal when many restaurants are closed. It was a great choice. Good atmosphere. Friendly service. Italian craft beer. Superb food. The spaghetti carbonara finished at table was a particular delight.

What a great find! Lovely food and excellent service. We came here and enjoyed a pizza and pasta which came with complementary garlic bread and were both delicious. All the staff were brilliant and really helpful with booking us a taxi back to our hotel.
If you want an excellent Italian while you’re in San Jose here is a must

Went to this place for dinner for our last night in Costa Rica and it did not disappoint. Our server Mauricio was so polite, professional and constantly checked in on us. We ordered the spaghetti allá carbonara that was flambéed right in front of us. Quite the spectacular sight! It is minimum for 2 people and I 100% recommend. Mauricio even came to us as the chef was preparing our pasta and telling us a little info about our meal and how it was being prepared. Thank you so much for a wonderful dinner and if we are ever in Costa Rica we will definitely be coming back!!

If you enjoy Italian food ,this restaurant is one of the best in San Jose,Costa Rica. My spouse and I enjoyed this restaurant with a good vino served by the proprietor himself.Ann had linguini with oco boco sauce and had berengena Italianos.
I highly recommend !

Great classic Italian dishes but the Pizza is the star. Their Pizza chef is a native Italian who has lived in CR for more then 30 years. He is truly an artisan, extraordinary pizza, super thin and crispy dough and wonderful ingredients. The Corvina with citrus sauce was phenomenal.

we went there during travel in costa rica as we realy love italian food.
the staff eas very nice abd the bread was good!
we asked for pizza, ministrone soup, pasta with salmone and risotto with porricini mushrooms.
we were so surprised to taste everything and to understand its realy bad food!
everything was fresh but nothing taste as it should be,,,
we thought maybe we had COVID and we lost our taste but no... its just a food with no taste!
thos os our experiance, hope the owner will read ang get better cecouse the location, staff and decoratind were full of potential!

Came here based on recommendation from hotel and TA reviews. After having a number of disappointing meals in CR, this one delivered 5 star for service, quality and price. We had focaccia, Caesar salad and penne with salmon & bacon in vodka sauce. One serving of each was perfect shared between two people. Also shared two desserts. Everything was perfect in presentation, portion size, flavour, temperature and seasoning. Perfect meal for last night before heading home to Canada tomorrow. I would highly recommend stopping in here for one or more meals.
