Great food, great service.
Best seafood platter in our 3 weeks vacation in costa rica
You can only pay cash, so we almost came into trouble. In the end we gad enough money to pay but the waiter made us feel comfortable all the time.
Would eat here again. Great restaurant

The fish was fresh and absolutely deliciously prepared. The best snapper I have ever eaten. The patacones were also delicious and the presentation on the avocado salad was lovely. To top it off the service was polite, personal and friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Cahuita.

Among the smaller restaurants in Cahuita, we liked it so much for breakfast we reserved there for New Year’s Eve dinner.
This is a great breakfast place … particularly if you’re like us … eat a hearty breakfast, have only a small early afternoon snack and an early moderate evening meal. The breakfast was very generous in portions. We probably could have shared one entree rather than each ordering one. The omelettes were 3 eggs, lots of bacon, fruit and toast. Along with juice and coffee we were well satisfied. Probably one of the best parts of the morning meal was meeting Leila, our waitress, who has lived in Cahuita for decades, is very friendly, quite chatty if you’re willing to engage and has more knowledge about the area and things to do than the guidebooks!! She’ll even give you recommendations about who to contact about what activities. We got the inside scoop on touring the indigenous Bribri reserve and booked based on her recommendation!!
Our New Year’s Eve meal was by candlelight … not just because it made it romantic but also because the power was out in the block where Las Olas is located!! There were candles on the tables and even the kitchen was operating by candlelight which is amazing given the meals they turned out!! We had a large green salad between us along with steak and French fries. It was, as expected based on our breakfast experience, delicious. The dinner staff are just as friendly, chatty and entertaining as was Leila and were even forgiving when I knocked our candle off the table and into the garden leaving our table in the dark!! Fortunately, the candle went out while falling so we didn’t leave the place in a pile of ash and they kindly provided another candle … this one in a candle holder that I couldn’t knock over!!
This restaurant and the staff get a very high recommendation from us.

We went to this delightful restaurant several times. Dinner one night was just delicious...hubby had the grilled mahi-mahi and I had grilled chicken, and both dishes came with the most divine grilled vegetables. Highly recommend.
We also really enjoyed breakfast here, and we came here 4 or 5 times for that. Katerina, "Kat", was just wonderful, ensuring that our coffee cups stayed filled and that we were happy with our meals. Gallo pinto, eggs, bacon, fruit, toast, and wonderful homemade jams and marmalades,,,all fresh & delicious. Would definitely come back.

We just happened upon this place while driving by. They advertised a fresh lobster special and we couldn't resist. We weren't sorry. The lobster was stuffed with fresh fish and cooked with tasty Caribbean seasoning. Service was friendly and atmosphere interesting, watching locals go by on their bicycles. Cash only. Highly recommended.

Incredible food!!! Beyond expectation. Gabriel was a wonderful host. Besides serving delicious food he shared so much about his beautiful town of Cahuita and Costa Rica. Best food this side of Costa Rica. We will return. Award winning Ceviche.

It was a surprise, we got into the restaurant accidentally and to be honest did not expect much, however the restaurant is one of the best ones we have had a chance to visit during our month trip across the country. The local Ceviche combined with Italian bruscheta as a started was superb, my wife had a grilled Red Snapper which was fresh and very well done. I had a fillet with butter and lemmon souce which came with french fries (homemade and also delicious). Las Olas is a newly open place owned by a young guy who is trying to come up with new concept and high quality cuisine in a place that focuses more on basic turist oriented menu. He created a place that could well compete in a bigger European city, modern, tastefull with a simple yet thought through menu. If you consider yourself a foodie, this is a place to go to in Cahuita.

Disappointing experience, long wait, very average food…
I remembered the Sobre las Olas (their old location) experience of 10 years ago to be delicious. The seafood might be local sourced but their way of cooking it is very plain as is the plate you get served: plain fish, plain french fries, plain salad, plain veggies. nothing special, nothing very inventive. We had the mussels, the avocado salad, the jumbo shrimps, the snapper and the tuna steack. They don’t ask you how you want it cooked, the sides are tasteless. Prices are high for what you get
If you want a real seafood experience, go to La Casita de Monli in Puerto Viejo, so much better and so much worth it!

We had a great breakfast here before going into the National Park. The owner served us and even brought us a complimentary tray of bread and spreads while we waited for our order. The breakfast itself was delicious and full of fresh fruits.

This place is a little pricey for a Costa Rican meal, but was SO GOOD. We had chicken Alfredo, a pricy tomato pasta, grilled chick and a veggie plate. Everyone loved their food and would highly recommend. They are a cash only establishment, but worth the price. There was a large portion and the food was great! We would go there again.

We took a day trip to Playa Negra near Cahuita, and we stopped here for an early dinner. No lie, this is the best food we’ve had in the Puerto Viejo area, and for a reasonable price as well. Grilled red snapper was fresh and flavorful, accompanied with fresh grilled vegetables. The tenderloin was the best beef we’ve had here as well. It’s on a main corner in this pleasant, quiet town, which is a welcome change of pace from the high season traffic in Puerto Viejo. We enjoyed watching the local foot traffic while we enjoyed our meal. I highly recommend Restaurante Las Olas.

We’ve had some incredible meals whilst in Costa Rica (both Pacific and Caribbean coast) but this meal was AMAZING! We had garlic and wine mussels to start (asked for no butter and it was no problem for them to do). I had the Tuna Steak and my husband had the Red Snapper with sides of fries, vegetable and salad. All seasoned and cooked to perfection! Service here was also great, our waiter was so friendly and welcoming. A perfect addition to a great time in a beautiful part of Costa Rica.

We came for dinner here with my boyfriend. The place is really amazing. It’s very clean and cozy. The food was also super delicious, big portions and beautiful presentation. Highly recommend it to everyone. The grilled red snapper was super yummy and I loved the banana bread.

I went to dinner with my wife at this restaurant that was recommended to us, just when the power went out throughout Cahuita and they put candles on the tables.
Very good food, we had a wonderful dinner. Fresh fish, and ABOVE ALL, the kindness of Gabriel, very attentive at all times.

During our short stay in Cahuita we went twice to las Olas for it was the best food we had in the area. The products used are of excellent quality, the dishes are refined and everything we had was delicious. The restaurant is housed in a typical and beautiful small house with a lovely terrace, right in the center of town. Great and very pleasant service, best food in town!
