A little confused; Hotel site on TA looks nothing like the Hotel (location is correct, so maybe they had renovations?), but the Restaurant does. I'm reviewing both. We stayed 5 nights at the hotel. First comment would be it's rough getting your bags from the...parking lot to the Room. No hotel trollies exist, and there's a lot of steps to climb to and from. Not sure if it's wheelchair accessable (we are able bodied; just an observation). The Gardens on the property are BEAUTIFUL. Costa Rican hotels often share that theme! The room was outstanding too. AC works great, no gecos in the room. Comfy beds. TV channels super iffy, but whatever.
Food here is borderline sensational. Breakfast came with it. Most servings are small but adequate. All sides cost 5 bucks US, including two pieces of toast (ripoff!). Shoutout to Randal, who is one of the best servers in 13 years of travel to Costa Rica. What a great guy! Give him a raise!! We only went once for dinner, on the last night, but MAN!! I had the Thai Mahi Mahi (Dorrado) and it was unbelievable. Not even remotely overcooked, veggies el dente + (more crunch than el dente, which is my fave. Wife had one of the beef filets, and even though she ordered well done, it was far from destroyed (I like medium rare), and that's not easy to do, but they did it. Great job. Everyone says it's expensive, but its not. It includes Taxes AND tip. I think it was 35 bucks roughly for the Mahi Mahi. Cheaper than Canada!
Staff in general are friendly and try hard to make everything perfect. We'll be back in 2 weeks for an overnighter before heading back to Canada. Pura Vida, and again, give Randal a raise: he's really an amazing man all around!More
