I expected NUMU to be another “Meh. That was ok” kind of place. I was definitely wrong. It wasn’t until the plates showed up that I knew… this was the place to be. The food sounds like typical food. Nothing flashy, but it’s the flavors...that Chef D creates. We had the fish and chips, short rib sliders, and chicken risotto. They were listed as small plates but it was definitely enough food. All the dishes were all fantastic! Every bite was so good. The risotto was rich. I haven’t have a good risotto in years. The fish and chips weee fresh and delicious. Actually I thought it was a pretty sizable dish. The short rib sliders were kind of an open face style sandwich. The pineapple and cheese combo really made the sandwich. It was definitely not a typical sandwich. The food was plated nicely and the service was on point. For this beer lovers they do have a variety of beer but I stuck to the wine. I don’t know why this place isn’t on the top of the best food in CoCo list because it sure was the best for me but I’m a bit of a foodie. If you just want food somewhere you can find cheaper food elsewhere but if you want really good food, this is a place you want to stop. It also has indoor/outdoor which is nice. Don’t think about it, make the stop. I’m sad I can’t work my way through the entire menu. :( Also, whatever the salsa was they gave with the chips was really addictive. Hard to believe this restaurant is in Playas del Coco. Chef Nicolas Devenelle and his staff could hold their own in any world class city. Offering tapas menu - the Tuna Tiradito, Short Rib sliders and Caprese Flatbread (beer dough!) are not to be missed....We had the Grilled Mahi-Mahi Filet last night from larger plates menu - beautiful presentation, sensational flavor. Food is quite a step forward... Carpaccio with mayonnaise?.... raw tuna with sweet plantain?.... well is not my deal... but... but... but... I guess is an acquired taste and I am open to repeating... the rest of the ingredients, textures & flavors left me speechless......in Coco town they rule! The wine by nature to order is awesome...I am a happy camper every time I find a good wine that suddenly jumps and blends with proper stature... their Cabernet Sauvignon does it with honors.More

Ended up at this restaurant three out of the seven nights we stayed in coco. It was amazing, everything we tried was great! I would highly recommend to anyone staying in the area or passing through.

Imagine this for a moment….. you are visiting Guanacaste on an idyllic family vacation far away from home and decide to head out in search of an easy meal in Playa de Coco. Passing by a bunch of standard Costa Rican storefront restaurants, you happen...by one with a beautiful well-lit patio that looks inviting. You walk inside and are greeted warmly by the hosts who promptly have you seated in a large, comfortable, and beautifully decorated dining room/tasting room. Not beautiful in a pretentious kind of way, but in a down-home “welcome to my living room” kind of beautiful… complete with coffee bean baskets in the ceilings, wood tables and accents, and even artisan beer that celebrates the culture of the locals. Oh, and there is live music too! Sounds good, right?! Now imagine that the food and beer is absolutely scrumptious (there’s also a full bar!) and may even outpace the decor. Too good to be true, you might think?! Add to the experience service and hospitality that is second to none. This place exists… and it’s here at Numu Taproom and Bistro! Outstanding! The food, the beer (Dang the beer is good!), the feel good ambience. The owners Robert and Lucia have gotten it right…. in a very big way! Do NOT miss this place… it will become your second home away from home.More
