We had not eaten at Marisqueria Milanes for several years. We felt that it had gone down hill. It has recently been taken over by a family that has brought it back life. The menu is limited but has everything that we would ordinarily order....Their young chef does a great job. I was introduced to ceviche 30 years ago and theirs is the best that I've had. 5 stars!More

We had heard that this was a decent place for dinner, with the typical CR seafood fare. And, indeed, the food that I was able to try was ok. I decided to write this review because I had what may be the most negative service...experience I’ve had in a decade or more. In fact, for a moment, I considered that someone in my family (it was a large group, with life-long prankster members) was conspiring with the servers to mess with me. But the reality was that there was a teenage-looking waiter serving 2 large groups and a small table, for a total of about 25 people. And this was happening during CR’s busiest time of the year, in a restaurant with quite a bit more capacity than what was actually seated, at that moment. We waited over 40 minutes for our dishes. Mine came out wrong. My son’s dish was as simple as they come and we gave very simple instructions, already knowing that they were missing the mark… but, nonetheless, it too came out wrong. I will clarify that we all “locals” and we spoke to the server in his native language. After another 20 minutes, I calmly and clearly told the server and the cook to cancel my dish. They acknowledged this… but I guess that they really were aiming to make things right, because another 15 minutes after this, they came to the table with the new dish… and once again, it was not right. I’ve never really experienced a triple-whammy. This place is simple; it’s a nicer version of the typical Costa Rican “soda”. Yet, the prices are not far from what you pay at the standout restaurants along the coast. You certainly expect that service will be proper and effective. I would have given Milanés a lower mark, but I am basing the score on the group’s overall impression… and accepting that the bad service experience does not illustrate the norm…More

We decided to try this place after hearing about it from an acquaintance. The fish fillet stuffed with shrimp was delicious, as was the calamari and rice dish. Local place sits in the back behind the bar area. Very local feel, which we enjoy.

Wonderful al frescoes dining, food is very good and authentic Costa Rican. The staff is friendly and attentive, willing to help you select menu options. They have a large selection of drinks, both alcoholic and virgin. The atmosphere is very relaxing.

A wonderful family-owned restaurant, featuring local seafood, generous servings and delicious mixed drinks! Our group of seven adults tried a variety of entrees for lunch and everyone was happy with their choices, which ranged from seafood cocktails/ceviches, to grilled and fried entrees and combo plates...to hamburgers.More

This restaurant was right next to our rental home so convenient to run to when we experienced heavy rain. Being out of town it is a little more relaxed atmosphere and quite pleasant. The menu is well priced without sacrificing the quality of food. We...had the breaded fish with fries and vegetables. All perfectly cooked. My son had fajitas although it was served with rice and no tortillas as he expected. The dishes were all $12 a head which was cheaper than the in town restaurants. From the road you can only see the bar which itself was busy most nights when we passed with a good atmosphere. The restaurant is behind the bar so don't let that put you off. Service was prompt and friendly.More

We visited with our family group of 12, making a reservation that afternoon. We were greeted with a nicely set table for our entire group, Mariachi band, and excellent service. The food was great, and many of us tried the authentic local dishes, by far...the best and most reasonable price. I would highly recommend this place for local cuisine.More
