The four of us, two couples, went to Citron for dinner in February 2020 after rave reviews from friends. The restaurant was clean & comfortable, but sadly, the service was horrible. We waited 20 minutes for our first drinks to arrive & ended up canceling...the second round after waiting for what seemed like forever. The odd thing was that the restaurant wasn’t busy. We had a traditional breakfast here. It was very good. I'm not sure about the prices because we didn't pay for it.
We stopped by Citron mainly because it was very convenient to our condo. It's contemprary, very attractive, and quiet. Our burgers were tasty and reasonably priced. Service was good, but it's not a place to go if you're in a big hurry to get your...food. We were NOT in a hurry, so it was a pleasant and relaxing wait. Pura Vida!More
Two of us went there for dinner after spending a day in Tamarindo and we were famished. We ordered the seared tuna which was excellent. We also had two salads, the goat cheese house specialty and the shrimps with passion fruit vinaigrette. For dessert we...had the chocolate cake and the creme brûlée and they were amazing. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Thanks to Jeffrey our server who was very pleasant and attentive. The restaurant has an indoor and outdoor area however the only negative thing would be that when sitting outside you have to listen to the music coming from the Hard Rock Cafe which is located next door. We looked over and they only had one table with four people sitting outside so not sure why the music had to be so loud. The music at Citron was much more pleasant.More
We love this restaurant!! Great pasta! So delicious my husband almost licked his plate! Fajitas very tasty and so are the vegetarian wraps! Forgot to take pictures!
Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, whether sitting inside or out. Enjoyed by us all. Definitely worth a visit!
I was visiting my friends that live in Playas Del Coco and they took me out to this restaurant for New Year's Eve (Dec 31, 2019)dinner. We came in at 8:10 pm, got seated right away, ordered food which they had three course menu for...$45 per person that included a glass of wine of the choice. Our appetizers came in at 9:10, main course at 10:10, everything was such in small portions, that we would eat our meals in 4-5 min and would wait for another hour for our next course! Desert was served at 10:40 portions extremely small, after 3 courses we were still absolutely hungry after 45$ per person! Food was OK, ravioli were soaked in tomato sauce, tenderloin, again, was about 3 bite size - for a guy it was not enough! I had grilled sea food, that included two pieces of shrimp, two small pieces of octopus tentacles, two bites of white fish and it was served on probably two tablespoons of mashed potatoes. It was delicious, but again, such a small portion, that I was still extremely hungry after waiting for 2 hours and eating my dinner! For the desert I had cheese cake and the size of the slice was about a half of an inch! And nobody came in in between to ask how we are doing, are we ok to wait for another hour for the next course! I literally wanted to go talk to a manager, but did not want to make my friends to feel more uncomfortable than they already were. In USA this level of service would not be tolerated at all by any customers! And the restaurant wasn't so busy! We saw some customers, who got in after us, being served before us! If you, guys, can't handle the amount of customers, then apologize and don't even seat them! I do not recommend this restaurant at all for the amount of wait and for the sizes of servings, you will still be hungry after you leave! Thank you for your review. We did dropped the ball miss-managing our reservations for New Year's Eve. We ended up with more the 85% of our guests for the night in the time frame from 8:00-9:30pm all ordering at the same time. This totally backed...More
Staff is polite, wine is excellent and the goat cheese appetizer is good. the rest is lot to be desired for an expensive restaurant. The ravioli was drowning in tomato sauce, the Thai curry was tasteless and vegetables were uncooked. The restaurant claims to be...a fusion of Mediterranean, Italian and some Asian. They get all three and the fusion wrong. If you feel compelled to have a fine dining experience and have a hole in your pocket, then this is just the place for you. The rest of you run as far away as possible. For all the money you pay , you have to ask multiple times for the water to be refilled.More
The experience was excellent. All of the food was great and the service was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody visiting or living in the Playas del Coco area. The food is consistently delicious!
We have been to citron quite a few times but always for breakfast. Every time the food is really good and fresh an well presented. Service is fast and the staff are nice. The place itself is really nice and can offer some relief from...the heat as it is one of the only places with air conditioning.More
