If you are in Coco be sure to check out the Pueblito in the Los Palmas area. You will find several really nice restaurants there including La Dolce. We experienced superior service, a nice meal at a reasonable price and very enjoyable live music that is provided in the food square every Monday and Thursday evening.

La Dolce Vita is the anchor restaurant in the very enjoyable El Pueblito Sur courtyard which is the home of several very good restaurants. Admittedly, Italian may not be "Tico" enough for some, but we were surprised that this restaurant was rated higher as it has a very good menu range, is open later and more frequently than others in the Courtyard; offers live music Mondays and Tuesday; and offers excellent food and Service. Our group of six went back for the 2nd time on our last night... and were not disappointed! :-)

My bf and I come here way too often, but the food is *that* good! I don’t know how they are only #12 in Playas del Coco.
The staff are all from Italy and some of their servers come from Italy (where they live) and live in Costa Rica during “the season” to help with the amount of people that come here.
Their pizza is incredible every time, the pasta is perfectly cooked, and the staff is always so friendly.
We come down every few months for about a week at a time and we eat here 50% of our stay. A must try if you’re nearby!

Based on reviews we decided to get dinner here. What a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT! The salad and soup that we ordered for startes to over 35 min. The mixed salad was lacking both presentation and flavor. Lettuce with grated carrots 3 slices of tomato and 2 black olives. The dressin was spray oil and balsamic. The soup I will say was amazing! The main course was so disappointing. Fancy pasta that lacked shape with a sauce that was very unflavorful. My husband who had a sirloin advised it was good. The service I think was the most disappointing. No one really cared and wanted to only tell me about being Italian and this is how it's done.

the beef carpaccio and truffle mushroom fettuccini was simply amazing. The kids loved the pizza and they made a simple butter pasta to accommodate our picky eater. The service was friendly and impeccable. We will be returning soon!

Well, we weren’t planning on an Italian meal in Costa Rica but WOW so glad the neighbouring restaurant had no tables available on patio, so we took a table here. Honestly, the best meal I’ve had in years. Octopus appetizer was off the charts with fresh focaccia bread. Pasta was amazing - cooked perfectly with amazing cream sauce. Pizza was also superb. Biggest surprise was bill - the best value when compared to most same old-same old food venues in area. If this place was in my neighbourhood at home, they would know me on a first name basis. Bonus: very romantic setting with live music. Go your first night in town so you can go again and again before you leave.

We visited Costa Rica over Christmas and stayed in Ocotal. On one occasion we visited La Dolce Vita after reading amazing reviews online.
We were not disappointed! My husband and I ordered a pizza to share and the special ravioli (lobster) and were so impressed! The pizza was a beautiful thin crust and the toppings were flavourful and delicious. Our pasta was outstanding. Not only could you see the pasta being freshly rolled through the restaurant window, but you could taste the freshness in the flavour. It reminded us of our favourite meals in Italy!
The restaurant has an amazing ambience in the outdoor courtyard seating and the staff is wonderful.
We look forward to returning to Costa Rica next year and visiting La Dolce Vita again!

We started with a very tasty bottle of Prosecco ($ 35.00 CDN), and the Tuna Tartar as an appetizer. My daughter had a peperoni pizza, My Wife the pasta Alfredo and I had the Pasta with Seafood. As Dessert we had the Tiramisu and a pizza with Nutella, Accompanied by a good Espresso. It seems the service was a bit slow on that day, but very friendly. I am sure we will be back in the next few days.

Loved this visit. We had a thin crust pizza the was delicious without being heavy. Red wine was a great add. Situated in Pueblito, a great little complex with several restaurants, live music fairly regularly for dinner, half a mile walk from town center.

Ordered seafood pasta, anchovy pizza and an incredible tuna tartar. Everything tasted amazing and the pasta texture was so good with the seafood sauce. The tiramisu had the tastiest mascarpone. We will definitely go back.

The home made pasta, served with - (Truffle Mushroom) as well as the (Pesto Shrimp) was heavenly …. The steak, was tender, tasty and done to a med/rare perfection. Eduardo, our waiter, was a great help choosing the right wine, his service and attention to detail was very appreciated. We recommend a stop here a must if your in/near Playa Del Coco, Costa Rica

This has become one of my favorite places for food and drinks. We have been there as a small table as well as a larger group and it has been consistently delicious and great service no matter what the circumstances. Everything is delicious from the perfectly cooked steaks, homemade pasta, and yummy wood fired pizza. Great food, atmosphere and always service with a smile!!

Tucked away, in a courtyard, behind a retail strip, it is a must stop if you like Italian. Outdoor seating, in romantic, colorful, setting. Live music. A short way off the main street in Coco. I had the Gnocchi Caribe. Literally, melt in your mouth, tender morsels of amazing flavor. Great service.

We were a group of 12 for dinner on our last day in Coco. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal, the atmosphere and the live music. The service was good but a bit slow. However most didn't mind since we were place in front of a window where we could watch an Italian Mama making fresh pasta. It was quite a show. Great way to end a vacation with a group of friends. The restaurant is well located in a small Pueblito.

Don't miss this wonderful restaurant and setting off the busy main street in Playas del Coco. The courtyard setting is clean and peaceful, with other establishments worth visiting as well. The owner has put great attention to detail to the decor and cleanliness of the restaurant and the quality of the food. My wife and I both had homemade pasta (a pesto with shrimp dish and a pasta carbonara). Both were outstanding...as was the service. They make one of the best and most authentic espresso martini's we've had...perfect foam, no overly sweet or creamy add-ons...just amazing. Also, don't miss the tiramisu. It comes served in a small decorative mug with a chocolate spoon. You can't go wrong here, whether just a quick stop for pizza and desert, or a multi-course authentic Italian meal. Loved it!
