Conestoga Steak House is a Dothan staple that has been around for over 43 years. We are a family owned business that strives to offer you and your family the best steak in town. We are famous for our variety of steaks with a side of a good ole' baked potato. At Conestoga Steak House, we always use fresh, never frozen, USDA Choice Midwestern Beef. We also take special care to cut and trim steaks for quality and weight each to ensure proper portions. All steaks are char-grilled with our special steak sauce. If you are in the mood for a great steak, this is THE place to go. The steaks are always cooked to perfection and served with delicious, fresh made rolls. French fries are hand cut and fried just the way they should be. Don’t pass up one of their hamburgers; the beef is freshly ground every day, and there is no skimping on portion size. Don’t look for seafood or poultry; this is all about beef. Enjoy, and leave some for me!

Perfectly cooked steak and very reasonable prices

Second time here and it was as good as the first. It’s almost refreshing at this point to go to a restaurant and have a steak cooked correctly and to standard. You ask for medium you get a perfect medium, you ask for rare you get rare. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and not overly seasoned so you can enjoy the beefy taste. Very reasonable for prices so people complaining about high prices obviously have never been outside of Dothan, possiblely ever. 28 bucks for a perfectly cooked prime steak, two sides and some rolls is approaching robbery in this day in age. Will go again, obviously.

Very good steak. I eat here once monthly and they rarely get the temperature of the steak right. Wish they had a few other side options. Broccoli is always a bit under cooked. All in all- one of the best steak values you'll ever get.

Ive always had people tell me this place was so great for steaks, so great. Prices are horrible, nothing special about the steaks. "Choice" steak grade seems a joke, these were more like "select" grade steaks, with very little marbling, also very tough. For the price, a really ridiculous price. The side of "broccoli" resembles a microwaved version of bagged brocolli, add cheese for 75 cents. The steak fries were so random and overdone, then overdone in certain places it looks like a blind man cut them up. Oh, they give you a doughy as heck yeast roll after the steaks come out. And to whet your appetite, they bring you captain wafer crackers and butter. Youre not missing much if you go to a chain, and you might get a better steak. Pass the A-1 please because this steak needs something tasty to cover up the bland, no marbling, chewy flavor. Wont go again. Overrated. Will continue making steaks at home if this is what the restaurant eating crowd consisers a "great steak"

This place used to be a gem in Dothan. Now it’s just one more overpriced restaurant. Save your money and eat elsewhere. Overpriced. Pickup staff at the desk couldn’t have cared less for the customers. Girl was leaned back in her chair, feet up on the counter and playing on her phone. Horrible presentation. Other staff bored and it showed that they couldn’t care less about the customers. Had dinner ordered for carry out. 1 filet 5oz 1 ribeye regular 1 ribeye large Total for our bill without drinks $82.00 Just for carry out. Baked potatoes were very small and cold Salads ridiculously small. Rolls ok Overall for no table side service and just carry out these prices are horrible. Name brand steak houses don’t even charge this much. Forget local and go with the chains Steaks were chewy and the regular ribeye was mooing in spite of being order well done. Filet was a cheap horrible cut of meat. For a steak place it’s not competitive at all Thumbs down to this place. Much like the old wagons , just roll on by this place and give it a pass.

Best Steak in Alabama!!!!

Hands down the best steak in Dothan and probably best steak in Alabama. The place is not fancy and they don't have a big bar.... I didn't see a bar at all. Their menu is simple. You pick your steak cut and tell them the temp you want it and sit there and wait for the best steak you will probably ever have. The side dishes are typical offerings, and they are good. The prices are very reasonable here. The service is very good here. If steak is what you want, there is no better place in Dothan to get it.

Outstanding food and staff

We were visiting friends for n the area and decided last minute to find a place that served steaks. This place was recommended. It did not disappoint! My son’s rare ribeye was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing! All our food was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful! We would visit quite often if we lived nearby! We were extremely satisfied with our experience there and would recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Great Steaks!

We had been wanting to go here for a while. After a visit a couple of yeas back! (We live an hour away!) Finally made it! Was well worth the drive! Great steaks! Tender! Cooked as requested! Good sides! Especially the “home fries!” Like Mama used to make! Great service! Not a fancy type place but prefer this much more than any high priced place with fancy trappings! And a lot less priced as well! Won’t take as long to return! Highly recommend!

Food was excellent, but server sucked. His name was Trevor & had ZERO courtesy. Everytime we asked him a question he had an attitude, some people are in the wrong profession to say the least. I will probably go back, but will make sure I NEVER get him again!

Great steak! Casual atmosphere. Great service! When we asked at our hotel where to get a decent steak, we were directed to this “Dothan staple.” We were not disappointed! Its clear why they are successful!

Horrible Experience Worsened by Horrible Management

We have been to Conestoga many times. This has been my mother's and mother-in-law's favorite restaurant for several years. Anytime we ask them where they want to go eat, this is where we end up. The environment has always been crowded and noisy, but the food and waitresses are typically great. My husband and I were taking my uncle out for his 68th birthday and he requested Conestoga. We had the expected wait time of about 30 minutes. When we were finally seated, we were put beside a table of approximately 16-18 people. Again, this restaurant is small, the tables are very close, and there is nothing to divide tables from one another. My uncle is handicap and uses a walker, but we didn't mind helping him maneuver into the place provided. After getting him in the chair we folded up his walker and found a place to store it out of the way. From this point, the evening just devolved. The large party next to us was so load that we could not have a conversation and the waitress could not hear us to take our order. The waitress immediately apologized and asked if we would like to move. We told here that would be very appreciated. We did not ask to be moved, but the waitress felt bad because the table next to us was so loud and rude. She was told by another waitress that there was no place to put us, but we were welcome to go back out and wait until another table was available. We did not want to do that since we had already waited a good amount of time and my uncle struggles with moving around. I do not know the words to describe the childish, unbelievably loud, and rude behavior of the table beside us. Our waitress apologized multiple times. After about 20 minutes of dealing with this, our waitress and another waitress finally moved us to another table further away. Our waitress was amazing, and the food was great, but we were so irritated by the behavior at the next table that we were beyond being about to enjoy our visit. There was no celebration done for my uncle. We just wanted to leave because it had been such a stressful situation. My husband gave our waitress a generous cash tip because we did appreciate her efforts, but he had already decided that he was not happy with the way management had handled this situation. He told the waitress he would like to speak to management. I want to insert here that as we ate our meal, we have a view into the kitchen through the swinging doors (after being moved). There was a man in there that was standing so still in the kitchen that I asked my husband was he a cardboard cutout of some sort, but after some observation and a small movement, we realized he was real. When we get to the register to check out, my husband asked to speak with the manager. We wait a couple of minutes and Mr. Cardboard himself come walking up to the front. Did not come directly up to us but rather meandered toward the register starring up at the ceiling tiles. When we got his attention, my husband asked him if he was aware of what was going on at the table in the back to which Mr. Cardboard said, "no, I have been busy in the kitchen".... My husband explained to him how horrible our experience was and wanted him to explain why management would not have handled this differently. Perhaps he could have gone to the table disturbing all the tables around them and asked them to keep their voices down so others could enjoy their visits. Or they could have asked this offensive party to wait outside until they had a more suitable place for them. Or as most managers will do, when we were moved, and he knew there was an issue he could have come to the table and apologized and asked what he could do to make it better. Some small token / gesture to show they were trying to improve our visit. But alas, none of this happened. The manager actually got an attitude with us and told us he did not want to have a confrontation with the table in the back and that he could not control how they acted. Though I agree that that he cannot make them act better, a restaurant manager does have an obligation to all of their patrons to make their visit as enjoyable as possible. And when we expressed our displeasure about him doing nothing to make it better, he said "we were working to get you moved". Now just before this, he said he did not know about what was going on in the back table. His next statement was that he knew that we just did not want to pay for our meals - and that is when I lost it. We never asked that he give us our meals, we had been here several times before and never had an issue, and the strategy it would take to for me to plan to get sit by the loudest table in Dothan just to get my meal written off...this statement was ludicrous. I called the manager on his lie about not knowing what was going on and told him how insulting it was to accuse us of just wanting free meals. I told my husband that we just needed to pay, leave, and never go back. But NOW, Mr. Cardboard was adamant that we were not paying, and I was adamant we were paying. At this point the conversation was heated, which I admit was a knee jerk reaction for me. I had just never seen such poor behavior from a manager and my mind could not take it in. We did end up leaving without paying because they would not process our card we were trying to give them. I know we were not the only table that complained about the noise from the offensive party. Also, the waitresses all knew it was ridiculous too. Although the table full of rude people started the decline of our evening, the manager was even worse. So, I guess we are done with Conestoga. Horrible night! Ruined my uncle's birthday and made him a nervous wreck after the manager was disrespectful. Do not feel that we can take my mom and mother-in-law back to their favorite place. And all this because this guy is obviously not trained to manage a restaurant. My guess is that he is related to the owners because no one would hire someone who performs a job so poorly.

Charged my Ticket double! A $50 meal with tip just cost me $101.48! Watch out they are taking money!

My ticket was $50 and some change and they ran my card today for $101.48 they doubled my ticket price and are closed today and can not be contacted! I will NEVER go back if this is how they do business!

I have been wanting to try this place for YEARS!! It was well worth the money!! We couldn't have been more pleased with the staff, the food, the atmosphere!! Sabrina was our server and she was awesome!!
