Exquisite Indian Fine Dining Experience

I heard good reviews from a colleague and decided to give it a try. I appreciated the innovation and creativity that went into the menu. The attention given by the servers showed just how much they care about the plates that they present. The restaurant was furnished well to their 9s to complement the entire experience to showcase the best that South Asia has to serve. I had the bela (non veg) menu.

A rich culinary experience !

We are visiting from KL and we had dinner at Avartana 2 nights ago and were very impressed by this rich culinary experience ! It was a beautiful blend of South Indian ingredients and spices that tantalise the tastebuds even more than its very elegant presentation .. and we enjoyed the succinct introduction of all our dishes by our waiter , Mr Balaji. They were very accommodating , allowing us to swap certain dishes and really did put an effort into making it a worthy experience for us. It was my friend’s birthday , we were served a complimentary cake - and in return we were to play a game of guessing all the ingredients used in making it. Thoroughly enjoyed this experience and would recommend it to anyone visiting Chennai ! Would also highly recommend making a reservation before hand. We played it by ear and went without a reservation, so we had to wait a little longer than expected. But the food and service made up for it!

Best meal in India!

This is a price fixed multi course restaurant that was designed to compete with some of the best global restaurants. They do not disappoint, the service and food are of global high standards. I have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in the US and Europe; Robuchon, Rabanel, Collichio, etc... This is in the top 5 of all of those. Best meal I have ever had in India and one of the best anywhere. I highly recommend and the value is incredible. Kim our server was outstanding.

Delectable and delicious.

Omg! Words escape me when I think of what to write about the delectable selection of set course menu. It is experimental and yet simply delicious. I love their cocktails and the informative service by the waiters who could actually recommend the drinks to go with the meal. Thankfully there was a cancellation and reservations is a must.

Amazing food coma expericnce

Avartana offers a unique visual and culinary take on modern south Indian cuisine and boy do they deliver! It's a divine experience of unusual combinations! Huge Shoutout to Chef Rushab Shah. He was a thorough professional and made us feel extremely special. We were celebrating a birthday and he was generous enough to make our dinner even more delightful with a surprise South Indian tiramisu! You can choose from 7, 9, 11 and 13 course meals with each course guaranteed to tingle your taste buds. The dishes were a visual treat and bursting with flavour. My top picks would be Crispy Chilli Potato 2.0, Baby Potato Malabari, Uthukuli Morel Curry and Jasmine Payasam. This place is a must must must visit!

13 courses plus a set of starters.... all very imaginative, but of course some were more outstanding than others, and a couple were uninspired. All were modern and international versions of indian staplemates. Clearly an attempt an creating a high end, michelin star inspiringlace. Wine list is boring and rediculous expensive. Drinks are comparably cheap and intersting

Finally got a chance to visit a Michelin star! A very different experience overall. I opted for an eleven course meal, each one better and appealing than another. Beautiful ambience with perfectly planned out courses. The staff was very warm and hospitable, all of them made sure to maintain the safety measures required by wearing gloves, masks and face shields. The cutlery was sanitised right before it was bought to us. Mr.Avinash guided us through each course, was very friendly and helpful! Mr. Vimal was equally amiable. They made sure we were having a great time and enjoyed the food, and took care of our particular preferences. Coming to the food, Avartana is a South Indian fine dine with set course menus. I initially thought the portions were little, but once we reached the end it turned out to be the right amount of everything! The portions were in fact perfect, not too much or not too little. Had one of the most satisfying meals in the longest time, given the pandemic. My personal favourites were the Crispy Chilli Potato 2.0, Lemon leaf sorbet and the vegetable rice. We were totally in awe of the food plating, everything was delectable. Mr.Avinash let us look at how the desserts were being plated and took us around in the end. It was a beautiful experience all in all. If you are a fine dining lover with South Indian being one of your favourite cuisines, this place is totally for you! The Rasam needs special emphasis for being very homely and yet the most scrumptious! Enjoyed every bit of it.

Fine dining at its best

An amazing evening of fine dining with friends . We had the set course called Tara which comprised 13 fish courses n it was so exciting because each dish tasted different n was presented differently too . Service was exemplary. Price was high but fully worth for the ambience , quality of service n food catered. Will highly recommend

South Indian food

Chef Prakash was fantastic. I have a dairy allergy. He made the food dairy free and even let the rest of the kitchen staff know not to use any dairy products. He prepared both South Indian food dairy free and American food with a South Indian touch. And even added several healthy substitutes like morninga and explained the benefits. If you are dining at Grand Chola I would definitely recommend chef Prakash his culinary skills and personality are excellent.

One of the best food experiences I ever had in many Chennai trips I did over the years! The molecular food selection they serve is a treat to your taste senses. Great atmosphere and staff is very kind and helpful in explaining the served mini dishes. Definitely coming back here!!

So,to put lonnnggg story short,AVARTANA in ITC grand chola is a kind of food resturant, which you can't afford to miss, it just not the food,it's all about a wonderful experience. You must try ANIKA menu in avartana,it's amazing. Staring from their kitchenware and tableware ,to cute representation of food,you would not be able to take your eyes off from it. They take care of your health,by curating the plant based and calorie restricted dishes. The quantity and bite size is also good. Mr Vividh had made dishes more delicious by a quick brief about them. He is a wonderful host for us. Caution: you may be addicted to some dishes as they are truly amazing

What an enjoyable experience. Wow wow wow. The flavours were amazing and the creativity in every morsel of food was astonishing. Probably the best restaurant in Chennai. The amazing thing was that authentic south indian taste in the food. For a local there were so many known flavours that were so meticulously curated to tingle your taste buds and evoke a distant memory. Wonderful. I personally wanted to shake the hand of the chef. Well done 👍🏼

A MUST VISIT restaurant, one of a kind multi course 5 star meal !

Stunning presentation of each layer of my chosen menu, photo of menu below, interesting tomato cilantro drink accompanied the meal. Service was impeccable, food was meticulously prepared and described by my server. If you want a special dining experience and are not in a hurry, this is your place, I will try one of their other menus for sure. The photos reflect the courses on the menu, everything served was fabulous. Wonderful atmosphere and lots of private space between tables co you don't feel crushed together.

Perfect 5 star rating - for a reason

Perfect 5 star rating. Different tasting menu options. I had Tara with 13 dishes. Outstanding taste, menu display. This has to be among the best tasting menus globally. Around $60USD. The waiters were attentive (Vividh) and beautifully explained each item. Definite not to miss experience. Be ready to spend between 2 to 3 hrs! Unmissable! Every dish is a mystery with an unusual story behind it.
