I had been to this restaurant for new year eve with my family of 3.The restaurant has cosy seating with relaxing lighting. The service was great with staff paying very comprehensive care to customers. Jagan was in particular very helpful for us in ensuring that we never had to ask him anything rather he ensured that everything is served properly for us. The other staff including chefs were very cordial and helpful to us. Great service and keep it up!

Be it breakfast, lunch or sunday brunch this restaurant have stand up to the high culinary expertise. Breakfast buffet spread was wonderful with everything that you need for a lavish breakfast followed by a extensive sunday brunch to spoil you on your cheat days. Special mention of Mr shailesh for a superb customer service and thank you for a great hospitality.

Amazing food . Dont forget to try these dishes Gilli Ghost Briyani ( Mutton Briyani )- its one of their signature dishes. Pizzas , Murgh Malai Kabab, Fish curry, Egg dosa , Waffles , Paneer Tikka and many more. Since we were staying at the TAJ we could taste a variety of dishes each day.

Shoddy customer service, and overpriced: true story not a rant.
I made trip advisor specifically to post this:
Went to anise for lunch buffet, taj coromandel is classed as a 5* deluxe property I believe. Unfortunately the only thing I can’t complain about is the water, filter Coffee and fresh orange juice.
Starters:
At the Live counter- ordered the lamb kebab and mushroom. When it Came it was not cooked properly in the middle, Mentioned to the supervisor and he asked the chef to have it cooked again, this time it was burnt on the outside and still uncooked on the inside.
Main course :
Went to live station and asked for chicken pasta with some pesto sauce. It is a shame that the chef does not know what Tagliatelle is, and gave me penne instead. I had asked for mozerella cheese and this had not come either.
I had also ordered for cheesy garlic bread, that conveniently got forgotten.
I pulled the manager to the side and showed him this. He was apologetic and made the two chefs come to me to see if they could help with the order, I told the kebab chef he needs to use a smaller flame on the stove, yet he didn’t want to listen and :
Attempt 2:
He brought the same burnt in the outside kebab. I didn’t have the heart to eat it.
Other chef made a nice special pasta, which happened to be with olives (I had asked for chicken and pesto) and once again used the wrong pasta- spaghetti instead of tagliatelle.
I sampled the various chicken biryanis and the chicken pieces were very firm and difficult to cut- w
Chicken in Hyderabad Biryani is meant to be the opposite.
Dessert:
I opted for a simple vanilla ice cream, and asked for some Nutella chocolate sauce on top.
I Was disappointed as it appeared that the Nutella was coming from the chef’s own salary in how little he actually covered the ice cream with! Pathetic attempt.
Final steps:
I once again spoke to the manager explained my concerns, very calmly and explained that my father too was Ex Taj and shoddy service like this brings shame on the Taj Group of Hotels.
I then asked him for the bill, and was expecting that if he had any shame there wouldn’t a bill, or it would at least be discounted. Then he sends Raymond as the fall guy, who is lovely and was not even involved in serving me during the lunch buffet to charge me the whole 2650 Rs.
I got up and saw the manager had conveniently left as I was about to pay. I didn’t cause a scene, paid in full and he reentered the Restraunt as I was leaving. He couldn’t even maintain eye contact with me. I shook my head as I walked past him.
Advice:
Don’t go to this restaurant for lunch if you are a hotel guest or visitor. Go out of the main entrance and turn right, Park Hotel is nearby.
What I would like as an outcome:
To recompense me, if Taj coromandel offered me a free lunch buffet after reading this, I wouldn’t bother with it. If it is for the breakfast buffet which I actually have pleasant memories of, I may consider. Also, can you impress with a suitable response?

I visited the restaurant at about 2.30 along with my family. I found the service surprisingly not very good for a 5 star restaurant. We had buffet lunch but inspired of calling the waiters several times no one came.!!! The waiters looked tired and whenever we called them they avoided our eyes and acted as if they did not hear us. I asked the Manger whether they have any sugar free sweets and the Manger said he will check and get back but never came back!!!!. Food was good and I have no complaints on the food. But you require to improve service to make people come back. Please take this as a constructive criticism and improve your service

Anise Restaurant located in Taj Coromandel conducted Taj Mahotsav Awadhi Sunday Brunch which served Awadhi dishes along with their usual buffet menu.
Spread was huge with Awadhi special welcome drinks, starters, main course, desserts and chocolates.
Live counters includes pasta, pizza and chaat. Pizza was extremely good and one of the best pizza I had.
Lots of Awadhi special Biriyani and Main Courses were available.
Lots of desserts were available including Indian, Continental, Western Desserts and lots of chocolate bar varieties were available.
Yummy Mango, Vanilla Icecreams were available including homemade Filter Coffee Icecream.
All the dishes were extremely premium in taste and quality with amazing hospitality.

I am surprised how terrible the service was here at this 5-star luxury hotel. I was met for breakfast by Saraswathi the hostess who became pushy on where I could sit and it was uncomfortable. The servers did not provide food on time after you place an order. The food quality was below average. John who may be the manager with the black suit did a poor job welcoming and was standing there apparently doing nothing. I could not believe this is the Taj. Would not recommend.

The service was nice, with them being very helpful and nice. However, the food was a disasterclass. Fruit tasted like flavored wood, pancakes were burnt, chocolate croissants were filled with something that I don’t think is chocolate, and the hash browns were just the definition of disgusting. Luckily for my taste buds, the waffles and french bread were very nice and delicious. Overall, this is a 2 star only saved by the service and waffles.

TAJ as the name says, it is the TAJ for flavor, Aroma, service and hospitality. I had the lunch buffet at Anise today and the flavors of the food were outstanding. The Gilli Biriyani by Chef Prakash and his signature prawns were out of the world. A must try. The tender mutton just falls from the nalli with just a simple lift and a shake. Like the cream on the cake the service and hospitality by veteran Mr. Subramanian (fondly called as Subbu with love) and his team members Mr. Jaspin Raj and Mr. Siva were fantabulous and a best example of what and how service has to be. Last but not the least the tea by Mr. Subbu sir, and the mava kachori ….. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 the taste still lingers in my taste buds… on the whole a sumptuous and fulfilling spread of great food served with utmost love and care. Worth every penny spent. Will be back with friends and family for sure and thank you team for such wonderful memories and moments. All the best team and continue the great work.!!!!

Great Breakfast! Amazing selection that was absolutely delicious.
Over that, the staff (Kuppu Swamy, Shafi, Suresh and Chef Prakash) went above and beyond to make sure your every need was met. I'm a big fan of filter coffee and they made sure there was a cup waiting as soon as I reached! The dosa along with the baked yogurt was also quite delicious!

We had gone on 1st January for dinner, but the place looked run down. The menu card was torn and pages falling apart. Food was good and service by the waiters was superb, but I had a bad experience that I am a Taj Epicure member and has given my card for swiping, but nowhere the points have been added in my account. We are not expected to cross check at the time of billing about this and now I get a doubt that this might be regularly happening.

We had a terrific time dining at Taj (Anise). They paid special attention to our dietary needs as my daughter is currently on a gluten free / vegan diet. Even whipped up a special dessert for her!

If you’re looking for a late night spot in Chennai, Anise at Taj Coromandel, Chennai ought to be your go to…. Hot fresh food servings of dhal tadka, lamb Breyani and dhal makhani at midnight …outstandingly scrumptious and rounded off well with exceptionally polite and cheerful hosting at that hour. T Ramkumar was quite simply outstanding… an absolute gem on Chennai’s late night scene. Another jewel in the Taj crown.
