Great alternative lodging if coming from Salkantay/Hydroelectrica and you want to completely avoid Aguas Calientes (recommended). The staff are very helpful, the beds are clean and warm, toilets are clean, the water gets hot, the meals are tasty with vegetarian options, there is a good...view of the river, and not many crowds. It is only a 25 minute walk from the lodge to the base of the trail to Machu Picchu, and the Gardens of Mandor are right across the train tracks and is a pleasant walk even if you've been hiking all week. It is interesting to put a name to all of the plants one sees out here, plus there is swimming allowed by the waterfall at the end of the trail.More

Great place to have lunch before or after Los Jardines de Mandor. Staff is super nice, food is fresh and there is WiFi. What more do you need?

We only had drinks on our stop at this restaurant. It is along the railroad track. Service was very friendly. The garden in back was nice, with a river view.

We hiked out early so we weren't ready for lunch but needed a beverage and a rest and this place was perfect. It's very Bohemian, friendly people and the bathrooms are stopped up...oh well. I would be eager to try the food another time.

It's delicious, fresh food. Chicken Asparagus, Shrimp Oreganata and Pork Chop Alla Toscana is my lover.

Awesome surprise, after the walk from town and the small hike to the waterfall, this place was a great surprise. Cosy, friendly, delicious and wonderfully down to earth...if one can say that with the amazong view it offers. Definitely worth the stop!

We loved this restaurant, we ordered two menus de casa which included a delicious homemade, thick chicken and vegetable soup, a delicious and tender beef dish served with rice, and fresh squeezed lemon lime juice. All of that plus two coffees and two bottles of...water for S/36 (about $12 USD) TOTAL! What I liked even more about the restaurant is that they take environmental stewardship seriously, they keep the area around the restaurant and the rail line spot less, maintain a botanical garden, use locally sourced ingredients, recycle everything, keep power consumption to a minimum (they make great use of natural lighting), separated their organic from inorganic waste, and partner with an eco friendly lodge. These are all things you will not find anywhere else in the mega-polluting city of Aguas Callientes. My only regret is that we didn't find this place sooner. It made a perfect rest and recovery area after 9 hours of hiking and the 1 1/2 hour hike up Machu Picchu mountain and offered great views and tranquility a mere 20-30 minute walk from the cesspool that is Aguas Callientes.More

I visited this place just for lunch, I did not enter the park, but I had the freshest and healthiest lunch in Peru. It was very economical too. We had lunch outside next the river and it was gorgeous. It is located about 4 kilometers...from the bus stop in Aguas Calientes, but is worth the walking.More

Thanks for your comments! What a pity you didn't have the time to visit Los Jardines de Mandor, it is hard to find good information about our place and the people who work in Aguas Calientes is always new people so they won't inform well...More

We stopped in for a meal and some drinks with our guide after visiting Machu picchu. The food was delicious and the beer nice and cold. Our guide was the one suggesting it and I see why. Nice people!
