Some of the best bbq we’ve ever had—the brisket just melts in your mouth! Great potato salad! A good value for your money. We were passing through Amarillo and Tyler’s had amazing reviews so we stopped for lunch—they certainly lived up to all the great press! Friendly staff. Thanks for an amazing lunch!!!

We had a family get together for 15 over the weekend. We called Tyler’s for a take out order a week ahead. I asked for help to order the correct amount, and ordered as recommended. We had brisket, sausage, coke slaw, potato salad and green beans. Tyler’s included a large relish tray with onions peppers pickles and jalapeños. We were given 2 bottles of BBQ sauce. Tyler’s deserves their outstanding reputation. The food was off the charts good. The amount they recommended was perfect. I recommend them for great food and service!

In April of 2018, we noted that this was one of the 2017 Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ Joints, and deservedly so. The meats were outstanding, especially the peppercorn sausage. The meat on the ribs fell nicely off the bone at the bite, and we strongly recommended the sauce, which is tomato based with a good peppery flavor. It reminded us of LC's in Kansas City. The fatty end of the brisket was moist and tender, with excellent bark, and remained so when the leftovers were warmed up hours later. Alas, the beans and the peach cobbler were just so-so, so here as in so many BBQ joints, we concluded, it's all about the meat.
In January of 2022, we finally had a chance to return. We wanted to see if the meats were still holding their own, and to learn if a different side and dessert would be on the mark. So, we went for a half pound of the peppercorn sausage, which happily continues to pack serious heat and great flavor. It also pairs well with Tyler's sauce, which in our judgment is far and away the best on offer in Texas. We also chose to try a large side of jalapeno creamed corn ... wow! It's really good; indeed, we would rank it in the top ten for corn sides in the country.
Tyler generously offered us a free banana pudding, and this one is special. It's driven by french vanilla, which you will taste in the first bite. It's creamy smooth and not overly sweet, so it supplies a fine finish to a BBQ meal.

I have given Tyler’s a good review in the past but I have to rescind this. The last three times, including today, that I have gone to Tyler’s they have been out of Ribs. I arrive prior to the evening in the late afternoon. I start to order and then I am told they are out of ribs. Hey Tyler’s: Ribs are what I came for and if you consistently don’t have them then remove from the menu. Stop waisting my time. Your people behind the counter tell you they are out of menu items with no apology and it is evident that they do not care and have nothing to say or offer. You don’t care about my time and my attempts to be your customer, so I am not retuning to Tyler’s! Pretty good BBQ but if you cannot provide it, and I cannot get it, what’s the point?

We knew we would be traveling through Amarillo on our cross country road trip and quickly decided that we needed to check out Tyler's after reading the reviews.
We arrived about 4:30pm on a Thursday afternoon. We smelled delicious barbecue as soon as we stepped inside.
There are many awards and assorted swag (lots of Tyler's t-shirts in assorted colors and sizes, hats, stickers and bottled barbecue sauce) lining the walls of the line to order.
The menu boards are clear and easy to read and include lots of meat combination options, sides and desserts.
My wife decided on the 1/2 rack of ribs and the bread pudding (she didn't want to fill up on sides and not get the chance to try the bread pudding). I ordered the #2 two meat sandwich with pulled pork and regular sausage. I chose the green beans for my side.
The employees were friendly and helpful as they assembled our platters. We also thought the prices were very reasonable.
We took our platters to a table and grabbed utensils and a bottle of each of the barbecue sauces.
My wife agreed with other reviewers that the ribs were "fall of the bone" and delicious. She really liked the regular barbecue sauce as well.
I thought the sausage was delicious and also enjoyed the pulled pork and green beans.
My wife loved the bread pudding and was half tempted to order another helping for later.
Overall, this was a great experience and we would highly recommend to other fellow barbecue lovers!

We were staying in Amarillo overnight and had decided to check them out for dinner. We got there and saw a Sold Out sign posted and almost left! Fortunately my husband noticed people were still going in; turned out only some meats were sold out. The atmosphere was exact what I was hoping for…. a counter to order your meal and tables all around for eating….. including a fantastic outdoor area filled with picnic tables. We both had ribs which were some of the best we have ever had. My husband also got the smoked turkey which was delicious.
Every staff member we interacted with was so friendly. The entire experience was great. Already planning our return here!

Stopping while transitioning I-40, we were pleasantly surprised with the taste, depth of flavor of both their brisket and smoked turkey. Thoroughly enjoyed every bite!
And be sure to get the jalapeño creamed corn…brilliant combination and the first place ever found in all 50 states and 70 countries.

A great BBQ place needs 3 things; tender and juicy meat, great sides, and great BBQ sauce. This place has all three covered. Variety of sides is not as large as you'll find at other BBQ joints. The jalapeño cream corn is awesome! They only have two BBQ sauces, a "regular" version and a spicy version. Both are great, and the "regular" version does have a little heat to it. Only thing that was disappointing, was the "Texas toast". All I got was two lame slices of untoasted plain white bread. That is not Texas toast. Overall, this is a great BBQ joint.

We came in just an hour before closing and missed out on the ribs which was disappointing but we got the 4 meat dinner plate and shared it, and we both struggled!
It was so good, the brisket was tender and the fat just melted. The chicken was tasty and the sausage really nice. The turkey was good but a little dry but I put that down to being the end of the day.
Potato salad and slaw was also good. As for Texas toast, seems it’s just bread, and I wouldn’t call it toasted.
A fantastic find, just don’t leave it too late.

We had an early dinner here after visiting the Palo Duro state Park. If you are looking for an upscale dining experience then you need to keep looking. This is a BBQ good ole boy diner where you stand in line, place your order, they cut the meat right in front of you, scoop it onto a metal tray, no plates, and you pay at the register before sitting down. We each got the 2 meat dinner plate special that comes with 2 sides so that we could try a variety. We got brisket, chicken, pulled pork, and a spicy sausage. For the sides we got jalapeno cream corn, potato salad, pinto beans, and cole slaw and it came with Texas toast. BBQ sauce was not on anything. You grabbed a bottle of sauce on the way to your table. The food was good, the. BBQ sauce was AMAZING! That being said, we are just not big fans of naked BBQ, but it seems most people are so we would recommend.

Tyler’s catered my wedding over Labor Day weekend.
To say that the food was good would be an understatement. I already knew they passed the standard test of any good bbq joint in Texas: brisket, no sauce, was perfect. The rest of the plate inevitably met the same standards. I knew this months before when I ate at the restaurant before booking them.
What I remembered at my wedding, however, is that the best bbq is made with love. Love of food, love of people, and even love of the meat. This love is obvious from the house-made bacon that adorns the green beans, from the complex flavor profile of the bbq sauce, and from the ever-so-slight sourness of the peach cobbler. But most of all, you knew it from meeting Tyler, seeing the smile on his face, his willingness to explain his own origins in the BBQ industry to Texan and Michigander alike.
Tyler’s, and Tyler, were one of many highlights on a special day where you wouldn’t think the food would shine so bright. Yet it did.
Thank you Tyler’s for helping make our special day so fantastic. We’re not from Amarillo, but we’ll find our way back to the restaurant some way, some how. Until then, we’re savoring the last few bites of leftovers.

We asked the locals for a tasty Texas BBQ and top honors went to Tyler’s in Amarillo.
WOW!! The brisket and ribs were fall apart , lean and wood smoked. Sublime!
The cafeteria style adds to its relaxed atmosphere.
We met people in line from Vancouver, Mexico City, Massachusetts and Idaho. It was a unanimous statement, we all wished we had Tyler’s in our towns!

We were greeted warmly upon entering on a late Thursday afternoon. I was informed that the turkey was nearly out, so I ordered it and they added some pulled pork. The jalapeno creamed corn was particularly good. Watch your order being cut and served; walk to your table; pickup BBQ sauce, soft drink/tea, and utensils. Plenty of free parking.

This place is awesome. Texas BBQ at its finest- I asked the workers what they recommended and they were spot on. The brisket delicious and the cream of corn with jalapeño was one of the best sides I’ve ever had at a BBQ joint.

Portions are really small and the spicy barbecue sauce was just taken out of the refrigerator. When I asked if they had some that was warmed all they had (was a portion cup to go) is served at room temperature. Needless to say my sandwich was cold, didn't help that I added the sauce at room temperature either.
I've never eaten at a barbecue restaurant that serves their sauce right out of the fridge! 🤔
