This restaurant used to be a favorite but has gone down hill in the last couple years. I had salmon, loaded mashed potato, and salad. The food was not hot when we got it. The house salad was made with iceberg lettuce. The mashed potatoes...were dry. The salmon was ok but not great. My friend had overcooked prime rib even though he ordered medium rare. Waitress did offer to switch it out after we were halfway thru the meal. She was busy conversing with a friend in another booth. With the prices as high as they are ($9 for small house salad), I would think they could serve better quality food. Also, they don’t have oil and vinegar to offer as salad dressing which seems like a simple thing to have on hand. They only have pre-made dressings. Also they charge fee to use your credit card.More

Our first night in Anderson and we were so impressed with the downtown of this town of Less than 30,000 people. Our hotel gave us of several recommendations and we chose J Peters. On a highly historic and renewed downtown street this is a modern,...large, upbeat and busy restaurant. Many homecoming dates were also their. We were promptly served and I ordered the Prime Rib, cheese potatoes and Caesar salad. The prime rib was perfect! Mt wife ordered the Blackened Chicken Alfredo with a garden salad, delicious! We ordered the croissants but found two more on the salads, so while not necessary but we gladly took the rest back to the hotel and gave one to the night clerk who recommended J Peters. She was thrilled! This is a Great choice.More

Food was solid. The salad was the best part of the meal. Not a knock on our other food. The house salad is just that good. The other component of our meal that made our dining experience so great was our server. Cody O. appears...to have been his name. He was top-notch.More

Located downtown Anderson, this restaurant had a great curb appeal and was in a good spot , relative to stores etc. Stopped by for dinner and the atmosphere was upbeat. From where we sat, we could see the bar area, kitchen and a view of...outside. The wait from the time I ordered was about 15 minutes for both items ordered. Food was hot and delicious but server forgot my tartar sauce for the fried flounder. By the time she came back to the table, I had already eaten the flounder. Sweet potato fries had a soft crunch and were so tasty. Burger was delicious and flavorful. Great proportions and great amounts of food. Bathroom area has only two stalls in the women's restroom and one of the stalls closer to the sink was not working. Overall, I would visit again! Server was great but gave it 5 stars because the hoagie like bread that came with the flounder was dry without some type of sauce.More

Good food and lots of it. One of the best and biggest house salads I’ve had. Everything is great tasting and the service is good. It’s a bit noisy inside though.

Well let me say this, its all based on the employee at the takeout counter today. When I arrived, I asked about my order. One employee stated the guy at the counter would take care of me. He stated the bartender was the only one...who c!ould check me out. Now, I really didnt understand that at all. She was taken care of other customers and customers is what's keeps the restaurant going, So if you can assist a customer that should be a priority. I asked the guy could he get the manager. He then ignored me, so I had to start looking at the employees with a ugly look into the kitchen area. The issue is the guy at the takeout counter really didnt care. I wouldn't be writing this if he even made a effort. The manager then came over to assist. I don't like employees who act like the restaurant or the customers owe them. J Peters didnt come to you for work, the employee came to j Peters for employment. This is happening all over the industry!!! But good employees what makes a business grows!!More

I have been there several times. From steaks to sandwiches, it was always good, but you have to go there hangry. Burgers are 3/4 lbs, Sandwiches use plenty of meat, and the steaks cooked to taste, seasoned to perfection. They distinguish between medium and medium...rare or medium well. servings are great for the buck.More

This was the second time there. The first time the food was great. This time, my husband and I ordered the filet mignon. We both were so disappointed. I ordered it medium, but it was more medium well. His came out the way he ordered...it. We both thought that it was tough and had no taste. It will be a while before we visit again.More

About once a year we may find ourselves here and today I was reminded why. This will be the last time. The three people at the host stand didn’t have a clue what they were doing. Even my 9 year old said that they were...just standing around talking and not paying attention to the customers which was true. And the guy up front who looked like he was dressed as a SNL woman’s character is a whole other story! We were seated at the worst table in the place right next to the door. For over an hour we froze while the door opened and banged closed constantly and people hovered and crowded around our table. The waitress forgot we were even there. Our salad had rotten lettuce. Plates so small the food was falling off, and my husband couldn’t eat half his burger because it was soaked from his side dish. The fries on the child’s plate were covered in pepper and inedible. I was so ready to get out of there that I didn’t even bother to ask for a manager. It’s too bad the good restaurants downtown aren’t open on Sunday’s. We will not be back.More

Love it when a hostess tells you the kitchen closes in 5 minutes, should have walked out then . Decided to stay wife headed to the restroom only to bust her tail on the wet floor 0 signs with employees laughing , seems like the...employee want to leave ASAP so they start cleaning the floors while people are still dining . Watched other employees slip on the we floors . Management came over to ask if she was ok etc… After being rushed through our dinner witch was definitely ok at best the waitress asked if we wanted a desert on them . Lol this place the management and employees are a joke .More
