This restaurant was a great experience, the food was very good. They serve the typical Peruvian food (ceviche, lomo saltado) and it was well made. The space is relatively small but nice and clean. However, we understand that they will be moving a to another location at the end of June 2017. In addition to the quality of the food,... More

My 3rd time to dine here. The owner who is a japanese-born but grew up in peru is the cook. He is so hands on that he does all the marketing. His wife is ever friendly & so cool, she is the server along with another girl. Food is super extra ordinary. They have their own version of kilawin which... More

It's an extremely small place: 3 tables for four inside and same number outside for smokers. So two things will hit you right away: the smell of food from the kitchen and the heat as well. The place only has one window-type Aircon and an air curtain at the entrance. And they also only take cash. We started with the... More

I was supposed to eat nearby (Behrouz) but it was still closed at 11am. So I hopped a few steps and tried Mantaro. I have tried a Peruvian dish in New York so I was quite excited with this. And it did not disappoint! In fact, I ordered another ceviche to go - after finishing an order in the resto.... More

Looking for a new food adventure try Peruvian food. The food is simple and amazing, flavored with Peruvian traditional spices. The restaurant is easy to find, it's along the road (near Cocoon Boutique Hotel).

My friend and I were looking to try a new restaurant one evening. We read about Mantaro and decided to go there. It's a small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant that has a very homey feel. We were lucky to find a vacant table. The owner explained to us the menu and recommended dishes. We arrived at past 8pm so some dishes -... More

Mantaro's ceviche is unmatched! I've had this dish elsewhere but it remains the gold standard in my book. Other dishes they serve are just as good, but the ceviche is a personal favorite. The place is a little cramped but I guess it adds to the charm.

Great lunch with good food and a friendly staff. They explain the menu well, and cook the food in the open kitchen. Ceviche is delicious, as noted. Chicken was likewise good. Prices reasonable. I'd go back again, for sure! Was not busy for lunch, but I'm sure it's much busier for dinner. Note they are closed for a couple hours... More

We started with the ceviche de pescado and it was refreshing. Next we had the pescado al ajillo with capers, olive oil and garlic which showcased the chef''s expertise. Our last entree was arroz con mariscos...a rice and seafood dish that brought tears to my eyes! All these make for a repeat visit. We will return to sample his version... More

The chef has introduced two new dishes: Pescado le acetuine negra - fish fillet with shrimp, with black olives, grated anchovies in olive oil. More complex in flavor than their pescado al ajillo. The former is Italian influenced as compared to the Spanish influence of the latter. A great dish. The other is Chuleta a mustaza - not the exact... More
