The Café is nestled in a sweet, quiet place within the premises of Santo Domingo Church which gives the same peaceful ambiance as the Church. The cafe was well decorated with art pieces which hold fascinating tales and history which was thoroughly explained by their...staffs. Their menu was very interesting, each name representing a story in the convent. Their pansit was very delicous which was adorned with many seafoods and meat. Although unusual, their pansit was well complemented by their frapes. It was a wonderful stay overall and the owner was very friendly just like the rest of the crew! Their cat was very cute and friendly as well 🥰More

On our first trip back to Manila in 6 years, we made a point to stop by at Cafe Inggo 1587 as we'd heard many did things about it, not in the least from my brother, who's a Benedictine monk. The proprietor is a well-regarded...hospitality consultant and we expected much from our visit. This cozy spot is a must-visit, especially for Marian and Sto. Domingo devotees. The walls are adorned by the paintings of Dominican churches by renowned artist Eddie Sarmiento and many carefully curated prints of the same. The large painting atop the wall perpendicular to the doorway shows an alternative version of The Last Supper that includes Saints of the Order or those who are relevant to the Founder. It's the attention to details that makes this restaurant so memorable: the little salt and pepper monk shakers, the monastic uniforms of the servers, the intricate drawings and wealth of information on the menus. If you are the type to judge an establishment by its restroom, the ornate ladies' room will leave you astounded. Finally, the food. There are so many appetizing choices that you'll be enticed to return to try them all. Our selections did not disappoint. I had Gambas de Padre Napoleon, OP, which I'd been craving for such a long time, and my husband had Spaghetti Meatballs, a dish he'll always order in any new place he tries, if it's on offer. We also had Palitaw ni San Martin and Halo-halo for dessert, the perfect end to our delicious repast. We enjoyed the congenial company of the very charming owner who had stopped by briefly, and he regaled us with stories behind a few of the items on the menu. Were also learnt a bit about the décor and their provenance. This delightful oasis in the bustling metropolis was a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours and will remain on our list of places for pilgrimage whenever we're in the country.More

To applaud a foodservice establishment's food as "awesome" and service as "exceptional" is as cliché as reviews could go. I can count with my fingers the number of places away with plates that carry flavors of beautiful memories, or an ambience that welcomes one into...a headspace that one could call "home", and Café Inggo tops my list - considerably an extraordinary feat, pleasing someone so in love with food that he could liken such experiences to little love stories. More than just a must-try after visits to Sto. Domingo, I am confident that after a try, Café Inggo would easily become a mainstay not just in QC itineraries, but also in tummies and hearts of patrons, regular and new. Having said all these, as the title suggests... It just keeps getting better! P. S. The Longganisa ni Filemon, OP is particularly superb! The sweet version is my favorite.More
