As this is an iconic dish in Nagasaki so its one of those must try if you are in the region but I left thinking what’s the fuss all about. Firstly, I would not say the noodle is bad but to rate it as outstanding..., I can’t seem to find the “edge” in the noodle. Nonetheless , the soup is something I like as it has a nice rich taste that is found in stir fried Chinese dish that I am familiar with. Overall just an average dish that may have been overhyped !!More

Gave this place a try since it was the original shop that first served the Nagasaki original dish of champon, but the dish was very unsatisfying for us. We waited 15 minutes to sit which was not terrible since we got there 15 minutes after...they opened and had to wait for folks to eat and leave. We ordered some fried rice which was very, very good but the portion small. Was astounded to pay $10 equivalent for what amounted to a snack for two people while the main dishes of champon were only 11$. As big fans of Japanese ramen, we were looking forward to this, but the taste of the broth, the inclusion of octopus tentacles and the thick noodles were just not for us. If you like fishy broths give it a try or if you are like us and just want to experience major cuisines of each city you visit, go for it. I don't regret having eaten there, but it just was not a great bowl for us.More

This might have been the best Chinese food we have ever had. Great food, great wait staff, great view. This place has it all. If you go to Nagasaki this is a cant miss. The Chinese dumplings, Champon, pork and vegetables were all excellent. When...we get back here we will go again for sure. And the view? Everyone raves about Mt. Inasa across the bay, but this 5th floor view right across the street from the bay is almost as good, and you get the food. Awesome.More

It worth its name. It is really good taste. Even though so many people, they try to do their best to serve. The taste is very good. I love this taste.

Taken here by friends for dinner (last order at 8pm). We were delighted there was no queue & we were given a window table with fabulous night views across the harbor & city. My friends enjoyed the pork noodle soup & I ate the shrimp...chili which was very good. As a landmark in the city, this restaurant is a must!More

Went here to sample the regional Champon noodle dish during lunchtime. This restaurant was recommended in the tourist brochure so we decided to go there. Took the tram from the train station here which was quite straightforward, few minutes walk from the stop. The restaurant...is located on the top floor. When we arrived it was pretty busy, quite a few people we had to put our name on the waiting list. Waiting time was approximately 20 minutes. We had a table with a beautiful view of the harbor. The weather was good too, so perfect photo opportunity. Didn't have to wait long for the dish, everybody went for the signature dish. Though we ordered both regular and large portions, there wasn't too much different in size. The soup broth that the noodles were serve in was flavoursome, although as an avid Asian food eater I wouldn't say that the noodle dish was anything extraordinary. I would recommend to anyone that wants to experience a lovely view whilst sampling this tradition dish. Though there are probably other places less busy that also offer these noodles at a competitive price.More

Restaurant opposite Hotel Nikko which is very popular. We tried to get the Hotel to book a table for two and they spoke to the restaurant who sadly explained they were only able to accept a booking for a minimum number of four people. We...thought we’d try anyway on the off chance and the place was almost empty! Got a window table and had very good service and excellent food including the speciality Champon. The place is very busy at lunchtime (possibly from the Cruise ships) and has a good name (ranked number 3 here at time of writing.) If you can get in, go! Really nice food and attentive and prompt service.More

Tried the famous Champon at Shikairo and whilst i think the noodles are decent, the portion of the noodles as well as the fried rice and the dish that we ordered were slightly on the small side given the price. Overall, it's probably worth a...visit also to see the small museum on level 2 which depicts the history of the chinese and how they set foot in nagasaki. Went there after reading online and travel book reviews. The night view is amazing. They have a very simple menu and two noodles we had for dinner was nothing special compare to other noodle place around. Dont come here if you want authentic chinese food,...try Hong Kong or China or Taiwan...More

We saw that there was a long wait time here but we arrived for the end of the lunch service and it was no problem getting a table without a wait time. Nagasaki is popular with Chinese tour groups so I am not surprised that...this will be very busy during mealtimes. The 5th floor views of the harbour was great. We tried both of the signature noodle dishes. Considering the hype they were reasonably priced and tasty. I'm no ramen connoisseur so I can't say if it lives up to title of the original champon but it is worth trying for a unique and local dish inspired by international cuisines. The "champon museum" downstairs is very small and displays are only in Japanese so I don't think it's worth going but entry is free of charge.More

The taxi driver who pick us up from the station recommended this eatery to us. You can always trust taxi drivers when it comes to food. We had champon and fried thin noodle and they were delicious made more so by the view. Champon is...a Nagasaki dish with a Chinese connection. Highly recommended.More
