It is definitely worth a stop here after visiting the Arashiyama Monkey Park. There are several part to this location-- a bakery, gift shop , and a restaurant upstairs. We could not bypass the wonderful fresh baked Miffy Bunny and friends shaped bread and cakes as snacks to go. An assortment of different flavors, styles , and shapes that made it difficult to narrow down! By the way, it is difficult to consume them as well since they are all so cute and adorable!
We tried the Miffy Bunny red bean Anpan bread, Boris Bear cream yellow pound cake, Miffy chocolate pound cake and Miffy snack strawberry bread as well as the pudding cream bread. They were absolutely delicious, all designed perfectly and packaged so nicely. There is an extra tax added on if you consume the bakery items on premise. Also, you need to pay for all the bakery items before heading over next door to the Miffy Gift Shop.
The Miffy Bunny Gift Shop is right next door- make sure you take pictures of the Miffy and friends figurines in the front of the shop as they are dressed in adorable Japanese kimonos. Note that there are many Miffy exclusive items sold here in the Arashiyama Kyoto location and not sold anywhere outside from here or Japan. They do limit the number of such items to two or four so be aware of limitations as they only manufacture so many of these exclusive items for sale.
Upstairs from the Miffy Bunny Gift Shop is the restaurant. They have limited hours and necessary reservations if you would like to eat there. The food items are carefully designed to resemble Miffy and friends-- very kawaii oriented! Definitely plan ahead with your advance reservation if you desire to eat here.

If you are into Miffy, this shop won’t disappoint. The Miffy buns are highly recommended, but they had sold out when we got there about an hour before closing time, and the only ones left were the plastic ones in the window. Getting there early might be essential if you want to snag a real one. If not, there’s plenty of other merch to buy if, as I say, Miffy is your thing.

Me and my dad went to the Miffy store on the way through Arashiyama after oing a bike tour. The shop had a lot of Miffy-themed foods, and souvenirs. One thing that caught my eye was this pack of biscuits that you can make. I didn't buy it though, but I brought a Miffy pin to bring back home. I enjoyed going to the store! I would definetley reccomend it to people who are first time visitors in Kyoto, Japan.

I was so drawn to the miffy themed breads and even tho they were rather pricey (and I was well aware they were for tourists), I decided to buy it. After all, this is Japan where just about everything is about quality. Boy was I wrong, the bread is hard and barely has anything inside. I bought the red bean bun and the green team white chocolate bread at 260 yen each (S$3.2). One of the poorest quality breads I’ve ever had. The shop is cute and if you really want to buy the bread for pictures.., just go in, take photos and head out.

Western Kyoto
Western Kyoto is home to some of the city's best eccentricities. Kyoto's Saga-Toriimoto Preserved Street takes visitors back in time to the Meiji Period, where old homes have been transformed into tea houses and eateries. Pleasure boats drift down the riverbank, under wooden bridges that beckon nature lovers to hiking trails and botanical walks. The area's famously tall bamboo groves, monkey park, and impressive vistas during the Hanami cherry blossom viewing season mean that it is busiest in warmer months, though also gorgeous in the fall, when the mountains and hills along the banks turn multi-colored. Historic and engaging, even the rail cars in Western Kyoto seek to exemplify its traditional nature and scenic beauty. Many people, including natives, come to visit the 1,200 rakan statues at the Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple, which is still in use as a religious site.
