I was able to come in during lunch. The ambiance is very clean, peaceful yet every detail is filled with so much meaning.
You feel like you are in a different world as the servers are all in traditional kimono. Tables are far from each other so it really gives guests perfect space for privacy. They have a teppanyaki station, sushi Station, elegant private dining rooms and even semi private rooms.
The bento we were able to try is the seasonal catch of the day. The sashimi was so fresh and overall food was very simple yet you can taste all the flavors knowing that they put a lot of effort and used the finest quality of ingredients. Even the plating has so much history and i heard is made out of lacquer.
The service we experience felt like authentic Japanese service filled with respect and concern to their guests making sure the guest experience the best possible.
Overall I would highly recommend this new restaurant for special occasions and even business meetings.

From the moment we entered the doors, we were greeted warmly by the ladies wearing kimonos. They were friendly and quick to answer our questions about the dishes.
The food is amazing! Every dish in the seasonal bento is delicious: the seafood was really fresh and the flavors are well-balanced. The bento is very filling, even though at first look, I thought the servings were little.
The atmosphere was serene. It was mostly quiet, with the sound of relaxing Japanese music filling the background. I especially admire the natural elements of wood, stone, glass, and flowers coming together - it's very Japanese.
I'd like to commend Bea and Leah for their prompt service: refilling our tea without being asked and entertaining my guest by engaging her with a short Japanese conversation. The Japanese Executive Chef also went out of his way to greet my Japanese guest.
After the lunch, my guest mentioned that the food tastes like the one in Japan, so I'm very happy that she is impressed. Will definitely come back, especially when I have Japanese guests around. Next time, I'll try to sit in the sushi counter or the teppanyaki counter.

What an amazing experience!!! Ive dined in different Japanese Restaurants but Yamazato is something else!! The moment you enter the restaurant, you will be gracefully greeted by Kimono Ladies - it gave me such a peaceful feeling together with its minimalists interior. The food was amazing, my lunch was beautifully prepared with the freshest ingredients and with the play of different flavors. Finally have a beautiful place and really good food to entertain family and friends ❤️

The place looks nicely renovated at first glance so decided to try it. Food ends up mediocre in quality and is certainly not worth the price you will be paying.
Nightmare starts when construction noise started, making the place worst than a typical fast food restaurant atmosphere.
When billing, they use credit card terminals that auto select DCC for you, adding even more hiddencost to you if you didn't realized.
Verdict - don't bother dining here, rather spend your money in that traditional Japanese restaurant at Makati instead.

Dear TypicalSingap0rean,
Thank you for dining in Yamazato recently.
I sincerely apologize for the construction noise you heard outside the restaurant. I fully understand how that can affect the atmosphere in the restaurant. Indeed our staff should have asked you which currency you prefer to use to settle your bill and again I apologize. More training is required to make sure that does not happen again in the future.
I hope you will allow us a second chance in the future and please e mail us directly at info@hotelokuramanila.com attention General Manager or Mr. Roald Schuur F&B Manager. Thank you again.

Amazing dining experience!
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch experience at Hotel Okura’s Yamazato. We ordered the Seasonal Bento and was blown away by the amazing flavors. At first I thought the servings were too small, but two hours into my lunch, I found myself so full and extremely delighted. It was such a treat!
Rose (our female staff) was very accommodating. She welcomed us with a warm smile, sat us down, and offered us tea and hot towels. It was almost like clockwork how they do things here, everything has rhythm, everything moves in harmony. We didn’t even have to wait long for our food to arrive and, to our surprise, Rose explained the bento menu in great detail. Mind you, it was not a robotic recitation of dish names and ingredients, rather, it was a thorough explanation of the dishes, how they were prepared, which condiment goes with what, and what to expect in each bite. Staff was on standby at a comfortable distance to give us privacy while still being attentive to our needs—my glass of water wasn’t allowed to reach halfway, they would always be quick to top it up. This level of sincere hospitality is definitely a big check in my book.
One thing that impressed me at YAMAZATO is the ambience. The place was spotless! The smell is pristine and airy, contrary to the default musty and oily odors of a typical Japanese restaurant. It immediately sets you in a mood of luxury and privacy.
I was one of the few guests to finish before they had to close for their midday break. Having the entire place to myself, I approached the staff if I could be given a tour of the restaurant, to which they happily obliged.
Apparently, the place is huge, with several private dining rooms for business meetings and intimate gatherings. There’s also a teppan station and sushi table, setup like a theater kitchen. I can’t wait to go back to experience the chef-in-action spectacle of a live teppan station!
Over-all, this has been a very happy experience. I’m glad I was able to discover a new place, whether for intimate family gatherings, business meetings, or even a date. This restaurant easily earned its way to my Best list.

We've been wanting to try this Japanese restaurant, but then Covid came. So when they reopened for takeaway, we immediately grabbed the chance. We ordered the bento boxes and they looked good--visually appealing; even the chopsticks are not the usual bamboo ones. The taste did not depart from the looks, it was superb! Every bite was worth it, including all the side dishes. The Kuro Buta braised pork was so soft; the salmon was grilled just right. Everything went well, except that next time, we should eat slower to savor every bite.

Had lunch at newly opened Japanese restaurant and my dining experience was superb! Very Japanese ambiance, the food quality is very good with decent proportion in classy and expensive chinaware. To top it all, service was fast and efficient. Servers will take time to explain the food upon serving. Well done! I would highly recommend Yamazato!

I was invited by a friend to try out the newly opened Yamazato restaurant located inside Hotel Okura within the Resorts World complex. I was also ecstatic to try out Yamazato as they are a michelin-starred restaurant.
As you enter the restaurant, you will be greeted by a hostess wearing the traditional kimono dress. The servers are also wearing this stunning kimono dress. The decor is beautiful and very unique compared to other Japanese fine dining restaurants.
They have a wide variety of food choices from appetizer, bento, lunch/dinner set menus, teppanyaki, kaiseki, and even beverages. Since we were there for Lunch, we opted to try their lunch set menus. The quality of food served to us are exceptional. It was of excellent quality and definitely a delight to the palate.
Another thing that I've noticed is that the service from the staff is superb. Staff explained everything in details with smile when serving. They are always checking on you and the delivery of the food is very timely.
Yamazato has lived up my expectation as one of the best restaurant in its category. I highly recommend Yamazato and will definitely come back to try their Dinner or Teppanyaki set menus.

Service - Friendly staff and very accommodating. The service team is very receptive on comments and suggestions.
Ambiance - that feeling of being in Japan even you're in the Philippines. Atmosphere is perfect for any special occassions.
Food - you'll be able to distinguish the authenticity of Yamazato compare to other Japanese restaurant here in Manila. Jyo Nigiri, Yamazato Salad & Wasabi Pudding is a must try!

We planned for a special lunch for a special occasion, it was my wife’s birthday.
Yamazato was not a disappointment and in fact, was excellent. We felt like we were in Japan.
The place has a nice modern Japanese feel, simple but elegant design, friendly staff, authentic table ware and the food... just as you would expect from a special Japanese restaurant in Japan.
We ordered the seasonal bento. Regular bento for the adults and kids bento for the little ones. The quantity of food was actually a lot but because they were mostly seafood and vegetables, there was not much guilt to finish everything, like really everything including the siding, pickles, edible decorations.
The chawamushi was light yet tasty with a treat of ginko and I had 2 in my bowl 😊 The sashimi of tuna and kampachi was fresh and really good. The dipping soy sauce was actually yummy and full of umami. The variety of grilled fish, fried fish, steamed fish dishes were all good and a great combination.
The chirashi sushi was a good way to end, it was actually filling but refreshing and I loved the ikura. I like popping them in my mouth 😊
All in all, the meat was filling and perfectly Japanese. We really felt like we were eating in an authentic Japanese restaurant in Japan.
Service was also great. Thanks manager Ms. Tin and our server Marielle. Well done 👍🏼 and keep it up.

I had dinner with my friend and the Food was truly authentic and exceptional, the service was great as well. However, we are always getting up in our seat to call our server, and ask for a tea refill etc., nobody can attend to us immediately. We notice that they are lack of staff, and the restaurant was also busy that night. We hope to go back soon and experience the Japanese fine dining vibes once again in Manila. All in all, we spend our night well here.

From the service to the dishes we had, Yamazato promises a high-quality dining experience. They really make sure that whatever they're serving is in season, so customers get nothing but the best ingredients for their food. The restaurant also has private and semi-private dining rooms, perfect for those who are looking for a venue for their business meetings. It's definitely a restaurant to check out if you're into Japanese food.

Most restaurants around here are closed because of the Covid-19 situation and I was the only one inside, but that did not take away from my experience. The wait staff was wonderful and attentive, shuffling around in their beautiful kimonos (and face masks for safety). The food was exquisite and well presented. The only thing I didn't quite like was the decor. It is minimalistic, which is all good, but the light brown cedar looks bland and provides little contrast, making everything blur together. Also bring a coat, because it is freezing! Hot tea helped me warm me up though. Overall: Excellent!
