Shangri-La Senju can be too intimidating given it's prime location in a 5 Star Hotel as well as its interior. However, you can experience the sumptuous dinner without too much breaking the bank. Servers are very friendly, good looking. And Ms. Estefanie is very accommodating and professional. They never miss to attend to your needs. I highly suggests that you go for the wafu steak, soft shell crab, their yakimeshi and crazy maki (will definitely makes you crazy!!)

Great place! Celebrated my birthday here. Food was great for its value— very tasty and flavorful, but not too much to the point that it's overwhelming. We were taken care of by our lovely servers Sir Marvin & Ms Mineya. They also sang a birthday song for me and gave complementary dessert (fruits) and a small cake for my celebration. Will definitely go here again!

Best Japanese Restaurant in Metro Manila

Senju has consistently been our family's top choice for dinner, and for good reason. The staff is consistently the best—always friendly and courteous. The food has maintained its amazing quality throughout the years, and I can confidently say that Senju serves the best tempura and grilled salmon head in Manila, hands down. Despite the rising prices at other Japanese restaurants in malls, Senju remains the best bang for your buck, offering superior service and generous portions. It's the kind of place where you get more than what you pay for. Senju has consistently delivered unlike others out there, making it our go-to dining spot without hesitation.

For your Japanese taste

If you want to satisfy your Japanese cravings, Senju is a great place to eat in! The ambiance of the place is cozy and well-lit, the food is aesthetically presented and very delicious, and the staff, especially Miss Bess, are very accommodating. Will surely go back to dine here again!

Set expectations for Senju's hyped Sunday Matsuri buffet too high, only to have fallen short of it, mainly due to food quality and hygiene concerns. Flies were spotted on the dessert station, particularly on the melon pan and mochi. I alerted a nearby staff but he didn't respond, so I approached the duty manager instead who promptly removed the affected plates. It took a while for the dessert items to be replaced, and some items were never replenished as supply ran out. Although the desserts seemed appealing, they weren't satisfying at all. The strawberry and green tea mochis had little fillings and tasted off. The melon pan was more like plain bread with sugar topping. The strawberry cake was a far cry from the typical Japanese version. The salad selection, though varied, wasn't kept on ice to maintain freshness. Their kakiage tempura also missed the mark with an unusual vegetable mix. Service was another turnoff, as the crew looked rather exhausted and unethusiastic, making the dining experience less enjoyable. On a positive note, I have to commend the softshell crab tempura, salmon head kabutoni, teppanyaki and sashimi – all flavorful. Their cocktail prawns were notably fresh too. Overall, considering the price, the experience didn't feel worth it. I hope the restaurant can be more mindful in living up to standards in taste, hygiene and service to match their premium pricing.

SENJU FIRST EXPERIENCE

Service and staff attention was great. We did come a bit early hence we were able to choose our seating preference. We sat at the sushi bar but later asked to be re-seated to a table since the bar chair was not very comfortable- considering we are seniors. Happy with our Kaiseki choice… but the foie gras was not available… see how forgiving I am in restaurants in this country. All good!

Ma'am Bess was very accommodating and thoughtful! The food and beverages were all served on time and tasted very delicious. Overall, the experience and ambience of the place felt very authentic and nice; especially with the hospitality shown by Miss Bess and the others.

Excellent food ,customer-centric service and superb dining experience. ❤️💯 My husband and I arrived at the rrestau around 9:15 pm and their Mgr and staff graciously accommodated us providing recommendatiion on what food to order right portiion and cut-off. They for sure know how to treat their customers like royal.😍 Tonight is my b-day and they gave me a soecial cake and sung me a jolly bday song!! What a treat indeed!🥰

5-star Japanese lunch buffet with superb service

Fantastic Japanese lunch buffet — a comprehensive feast! The soft shell crab was especially delicious — you can really taste the meat, it's not buried in batter. Other must-tries: sukiyaki, ebi tempura, the sashimi/sushi spread, teppanyaki, kani salad. Exceptional service from the wait staff, too, especially Stef — great attention to detail, she anticipated all our needs. Best to reserve in advance as the resto tends to get fully booked fast. I look forward to dining here again.

Condescending waiter

The waiter that was taking our order was condescending towards me and my family. A few members were early and already ordered. When we came, I was asked to order for the group. We were ordering for a group of 13, so we were taking a bit longer than expected. While we were choosing what we wanted, we’re talking amongst ourselves about the which items we wanted. We chose 2 of each chicken teriyaki, ebi tempura and steak. During this, the waiter kept commenting “Baka di niyo maubos”. I’m not sure if he knew that our group was not complete yet at this time, we were still missing 3 people at this point. I was also ordering for them. While we were choosing which steak we wanted, the waiter asked the doneness of our steak, and quickly interjected “kung paano lulutuin”, implying that we don’t know what doneness means. The food was ok. - The chicken was ok, but had a bit of a fishy taste - The ebi tempura was crunchy. 10/10 - The US Rib Eye Prime steak was chewy but tasted good with the sauce. We paid 28k for the dinner, which I think is a bit overpriced for what we ordered. Left the 2 star rating just because of the experience with the waiter.

Great experience and excellent service

We have been faithful clients of Senju for more than 20 years. We love the ambience, the food, and the excellent service. We always feel at home and there are hundreds of wonderful gestures that I could highlight. We feel like family and are grateful to all Senju staff, like Josie, for always making us at home. We are addicted to the coffee jelly with vanilla ice cream, which is a superb desert and we owe this passion to the highly professional manager, Stephanie. Thank you very much Senju Family!

Excellent Service!

The highlight of Senju is undoubtedly its food. The fresh sashimi platter, which was a visual and culinary delight. The fish was incredibly fresh and sliced to perfection. The sushi rolls were another highlight, particularly the crazy maki, which had a perfect balance of flavors and textures. The service was top-notch. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and provided great recommendations. The combination of excellent service, high-quality food, and a relaxing ambiance makes it a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine in Mandaluyong. I highly recommend Senju!

Went here for my birthday. Food and service was great! Our server Marvin was very accommodating and Franz made a special little birthday cake for us. Will definitely come back again next time!
