Their excellent service makes all the difference

Sometimes you get lucky and meet an outstanding staff. In my case, it was their Senior Guest Relations, Ms. Julie Ann, whom I commend for her superb PR and helpfulness. For some reason, tonight I craved for a certain chinese dish, which apparently is new in the market. Not all Chinese restos make this yet, so I thought of going to a reputable and dependable place like Shangri-La hotel to make sure that my time and efforts wont go wasted. When I arrived, the whole place was fully-booked, as there was a birthday celebration with 300 guests. To make matters worse, the dish I was looking for isnt in their menu. So I asked if there are restos in ShangriLa East Wing that makes this dish. With regret she informed me that there isnt even a Chinese resto in the East Wing, and another staff recommended a place in Pasay which she knows definitely makes the dish. When Julie Ann learned that I came all the way to ShangriLa just for this, she quickly thought of requesting it to their chef, and upon seeing a vacant table, she cheerfully invited me in. Alas! My trip to Summers Palace went as planned. Or rather, a success! Dinner was beyond satisfactory not just because of good food but because of the extra mile that she did, topped with caring gesture and hospitality. In conclusion, my cravjng was satisfied, and I was a very happy customer. Win-win situation. So I highly recommend Summers Palace to everyone, especially those who are planning to visit Philippines. If youre looking for authentic chinese cuisine, excellent service, and elegant ambience, this is the place to be. And if youre lucky, you might also find Julie Ann on duty.

Summer Palace still the best

Ive been enjoying the privilege of eating at Summer Palace since 1997. For over 26 years our family and friends have been coming back for the best Chinese cuisine for buck in the metro. From the unique fusion-style appetizers, to the soups, rice, and mains selection, to the unforgettable dimsum carts, Summer Palace crafts fresh and decadent dishes, flavors emerge from handpicked ingredients yet not so much as to be overpowering and without the lingering taste of MSG in the mouth. Everything from the ambience down to the table setting including the peanut, soy sauce, and green tea provided are crafted for luxurious dining and discerning patrons. The heart of Summer Palace is manager Nancy Farm who is responsible for overseeing the unparalleled consistency of the food as well as dedicated to maintaining the position of the restaurant in the upper ranks of Manila Chinese dining. New dishes are continuously introduced so menu selection stays captivating and fresh. Shangri-La ask customer to eat wrapping paper

They are asking customer to eat paper. The wrapping paper on the bun is not removed and they served as is. After that, une manager just said sorry and didn’t do anything about it. We are taking about Shangri-La, not the street food! I am pissed off because this should never happen to the places like here, people have higher expectations if we are paying $$$. I know human make mistakes, but it can be prevented with certain procedure and protocol, this just reflected how loose the F&B management is!

A successful meeting at the Right place

The staff was nothing short of extraordinary. Four waiters—Gerard, Ian Oliver, Jeff, and Kenneth—were the personifications of hospitality. Each one brought a unique charm and attentiveness that made the dining experience feel personalized. Gerard's expertise on the menu allowed us to navigate through gastronomic delights with ease and confidence. Ian Oliver's warm demeanor and prompt service ensured that our tea cups were always filled just at the right moment. Jeff offered dishes, which enlivened the meals with cultural richness and depth. And Kenneth's attentive eye caught the little details, making sure that every aspect of our meal was perfect.

Great food and excellent service!

We ordered set menu 1 and every dish tasted great! The food was also kid-friendly as we didn’t have much problems feeding the family’s toddlers. The staff were very attentive and accommodate our needs and requests. Overall would go back, 10/10

Good food, good service

We were fortunate to dine here at a time that wasn’t overly busy. The waiters, including Tian and Ken, were very attentive and accommodating. The manager, Nancy, had an excellent grasp of the menu and suggested dishes that went very well together. The food itself was tasty and well-cooked, with a good balance of flavors. Food quality was generally consistent and there weren’t any dishes that we did not like.

A Birthday To Remember

Service: accommodating servers and staff, always attentive and observant. Sir Alvin refills water and tea easily if they see that the glass/ tea cup is half full. Food And Serving: Serving Time was fast,our orders were complete in 15mins. Food serving is generous and delicious. You pay for the quality and generosity of serving. My personal favorite is Cereal Prawns

Sadly, the food was not good

We used to love coming here. On this occasion, however, we were seated beside a huge family gathering with young children running around and constantly screaming. Not the restaurants fault, and the staff moved us to a quieter area upon our request, for which we are grateful. Everything would have been OK if the food was even passable, but it wasn't. The peking duck was bland, the steamed fish was overcooked, and the spareribs would not have been acceptable in a North Park. Despite the valiant efforts of the waitstaff to make us comfortable, I will not return.

Food was wonderful but since I was on a very strict: non iodine diet, non dairy, non potato; non etc… the captain waiter at the station , ALVIN, patiently listened to me & fixed with the chef a very special delicious dish !! Thank you Alvin ! You made my lunch an enjoyable one

The best!!

Food was truly exquisite. My taste buds have never been to paradise. The chef was sent from heaven and blessed us with food that was glorious and divine. The staff were very helpful! Marcelle, Bart, Melvin, Patrick and Eduard assisted us with everything. They were all so hospitable and professional. Never have we ever been served and treated so delightfully before so props to them. I hope their families are safe and wish them the best in the world.

Birthday Let Down: Disappointing Dining Experience

My recent birthday dinner at Summer Palace left much to be desired. While the overall food was okay, a major flaw overshadowed the entire experience – the service was slow, order was not taken correctly, fish was served raw…. Maybe because it was rushed because it took an eternity to get any attention. This is an unacceptable oversight, and it completely marred what should have been a special celebration. The initial promise of a memorable birthday experience was shattered when the lack of attention we received. The tables around us were all having a great time while my party 14 sat patiently waiting for our food. We were told another party needed more attention due to language barrier. Definitely not an excuse. The lack of attention to detail in the kitchen raised serious concerns about the restaurant's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. The staff's response was apologetic, but it did little to salvage the celebration. Celebrating a birthday should involve joy, but my experience at Summer Palace was a disappointing reminder of how one crucial mistake can ruin an otherwise average dining experience.
