The place has a great ambiance, and on a working-day was virtually full. The service is excellent. There were many tapas, but we came for paella which whilst tasty was a bit disappointing and certainly not cooked they do it in Spain or traditional Spanish...restaurants elsewhere.More
First time Rambla visit for us. It was a spontaneous visit, date night. No expectations or anything. Great food, taste awesome. We sat by the bar, you'll like it if you also love seeing them making the food in the kitchen. Staff were very social...and kind.More
Most say this place is delicious and I bought into that but, nope, this place just didn’t do it for me. It wasn’t that the food was not good but it was just not that good. It was borderline average slightly above par but nothing...that would make me want to come back. Ordered the barramundi which was well cooked however the mayo based sauce that dotted the plate was a bit of an underwhelming mismatch. I could barely make out the minuscule bits of shrimp that were desperately trying to make themselves conspicuous under a bed of snap peas. Hello!!! As for the setas paella, the mushrooms were a tad over cooked, slightly burned which sort of ruined the experience.
On an up note the arroz was packed with good umami flavour which helped to compensate for the bitterness of the enokis. Highlight of the meal was the chocolate ganache - slightly salty which contrasted well, as expected, with the chocolate. If you opt to go - and I am not discouraging you - you may find yourself wanting.
Anyway, service is great so i guess that justifies the price . Buen provecho. Ho hum
footnote - they had a pitted olive like congealed substance in their house salad - was this an attempt at molecular gastronomy for which the Spanish are famed? Someone enlighten me if you try it. It seems sorely out of place on a rustic bed of greens and perhaps belonged more on a cracker of some sort.More
I would highly recommend to go to Rambla to enjoy some of their delicious tapas they have as well as some extremely tasteful drinks they make. They have various options you can choose from, but overall an amazing experience and great customer service.
I’ve been visiting Manila for work a few times a year since 2014, and always stay in Rockwell to avoid the chaos
When there, I eat at Rambla at least once every day, it’s that good.
Their Paella Negra has been my go-to dish for...years, and it’s disappointing that they no longer serve their strawberry gazpacho.
If you’re on your own, as i usually am, sit at the bar seating to watch the kitchen theatre!
Only negative was that I found out when there yesterday, they wash their salad leaves in the local (non-potable) water, hence why I avoid salads when travelling in most parts of Asia. For the cost of a few dollars a day the leaves could be washed in drinking water.More
There are many restaurants in the Philippines that claim to serve good and authentic Spanish restaurant. That is to be expected in this former Spanish colony, where the elite of the society still view everything Castilian as upper-crust and high-end. Yet, among the many restaurants...with Spanish influences, few could rival the food served by Rambla, matched by impeccable service standards.
The paellas are even better-tasting than those you get served in Madrid, Barcelona or many other places in Spain. They were just moist and delicious! The cochinillo has such a crispy and clean taste that one immediately wants to have another bite. Everything we tasted was delicious.
They also had a good selection of drinks to choose from.
What makes this place special is the kind of service they have. We do not know if we were just lucky to have a great lady server but she was really courteous and nice and very very good in making guests feel welcomed in this great place.
Rambla is definitely a place worth returning to! If you have not been here, you have to try this place out soon!More
