The last time I was here was decades ago. Me and my family just wanted to see and try if the resto was still okay. Upon walking in I noticed the "Old Cinema" smell. And upon sitting down I realized that the place mats were...quite sticky. The food was okay. Service was just average. This place can still be a good resto with some general cleaning/repainting.More

Food is still good, but being the first customers to come in, the place smelled like a wet rag. That’s really bad.

You'll be surprised that the facade is like an old house and you'll be more surprised once you go inside. The place is dim (and I like it that way) with an overhead lamp on each table. The service crew is all male and all...are equally ready to serve and waiting to be called. They will not crowd you by going back and forth asking if you're ready to order. They will wait till you call them if you're ready and decided which to order. They have a great selection of authentic Japanese cuisine. I love their mixed vegie tempura, not oily and has the crunch I like. Their tamago rolls and California Maki are great and their sizzling tofu with asparagus is divine. You'll really think of going back for another delectable dining experience.More

Kamameshi House has been around for decades, which attests to its quality and authenticity. The signature dish is the kamameshi rice, which does not disappoint. You have to order this even if the preparation time is long. The other items on the menu were also...very good, with none of the new-fangled fusion nonsense. The interiors are also simply furnished, quiet, and comfortable. Parking is not a problem, too!More

Had the best tuna maki here. The rice is to die for. The service is great. The price is worth it. If you can try everything, do it. Because the food's that awesome.

With a lot of establishment claiming to be authentic, New Kamameshi I believe is one of the remaining authentic Japanese Restaurants. Good food but the ambiance now needs improving.

I love Japanese food and this place although may not look very fancy has amazing food. The Teppanyaki beef and the chicken yakitori...were just perfect. The Dobin Mushi soup was great and also their rolls were very nice. Will SURE be going backMore

My family dined here last August 17 to celebrate the 80th birthday of my aunt. Unfortunately we were terribly disappointed with the food and service. I minced no words in my review and in letting the Management know how we felt. I sent my complaint...letter last August 21 and got a call from the owner the next day. We (though I was the only one who was able to go) were invited to their restaurant where each of my complaint was addressed in front of the staff that served us. They apologized for the poor service. Meanwhile, the owners introduced me to new fares like kyuri kani salad (a light cucumber salad), ebi fry (deep fried prawns which can rival the deliciousness of tempura any time) and a little "lesson" in their kamameshi crab rice which is to add some yakitori sauce to enhance its flavor. The meals turned to be very delicious. To have my complaint personally acknowledged by the owners really meant something to me but to personally invite me over, that is really service at its best straight from their heart. I now turn 360 degrees with my review, after meeting the owners and being introduced to other delectable fares. More power to Kamameshi House and its one of a kind owners!More

My son and I brought my aunt to Kamameshi House to celebrate her 80th birthday. We chose this restaurant as my aunt and I had fond memories of the place back in the '80s when my mom (still around then) would dine with us here...regularly. We haven't eaten here for a long time and thus, looked forward to the good food we once experienced. We were sadly disappointed. The place was warm. The waiter advised us to sit on a place nearer the aircon. I pre-ordered the crab rice which had to be cooked for 20 minutes. But it was served more than 20 minutes later with no apologies. We ordered sukiyaki, ebi tempura, California maki and another dish. My son and I only enjoyed the California maki. We asked the waiter to keep our cake in the ref and to serve it after the meals. We gave the candles, expecting that the cake would be served with some fanfare, but it was served as it was--the cake still in a box, tied with a string with the "8""0" candles on top of the box. The waiter who served the cake might've been very problematic as no emotions registered as he served the cake. Nor did he bother to help us bring it out of the box. Were we hard of hearing or was there no greeting at all from the waiter. Doesn't an 80 year old deserve a greeting for reaching a milestone in her life? Or am I just too full of complaints? Finally, we had some leftover food for take out. I had to keep the cake in the box, tie the string while our aunt hobbled her way out of the resto but the 3 dishes for take out still were not ready. We were in the car when I remembered about it and my son had to go back to get the food; no waiter came running out to remind us. Had this happened over a busy resto, I would've understood but there were just a few tables. For an expensive meal, we were so terribly disappointed over this experience. My son and I went to another place for dessert and snacks. And oh, the phone number in their website couldn't be reached as this was the office number and not the restaurant number so I had to personally go and ask if they were open for lunch today. I didn't mind this as the resto was just near our place but it would be helpful to other diners to have a reachable number.Only the celebrant enjoyed, which was what mattered in the end. Nevertheless, we are not going back and I am writing the Management over this bad experience.More

Kamameshi House is a few blocks away from our house, so we'd visit everytime we feel like eating Japanese food. It looks like a house (and feels like one inside cause there are private rooms) but the service is great. I particularly like how the...wait staff would smile and bow as soon as you enter the restaurant and say "andito uli kayo" (you're here again). how they make their iced tea is a mystery but its a must try. ebi tempura, salmon sashimi, tuna sushi, sukiyaki using local beef and gyoza are common orders. :)More
