The first time I had dinner in Mullixhiu in 2017 I was blown away by the quality of the food and the service. So when visiting Tirana last week I was looking forward to, what I was thinking, a great night. But what a disappointment....I hardly ever write reviews but it was so bad that I decided to make an exception. It already began when entering; we waited at the entrance but were ignored. So when we went up to the waitress to say we made a reservation, she didn’t even check the details. We booked for a table outside, she just pointed us to a table inside. Small detail, but first clue of unprofessional service. After we were seated we were given a menu to then wait 20 minutes! before somebody came and asked us if we wanted anything to drink. When I asked if we could have the tasting menu like I had a few years earlier, the waitress just sighed and said: I don’t know, I don’t think so, is finished. She didn’t offer an explanation as to why we couldn’t have the menu, while clearly other tables were given the tasting menu. At that point you would expect the waitress to offer an alternative or give some explanation about what they did serve that evening, but nothing, she just looked away bored. We ordered a salad (bland) and grilled vegetables (undercooked aubergine, no seasoning), the yufka with porcini (bits of undercooked, hard pasta in it), and the trout. The trout was tasty but it came with exactly the same grilled vegetables as our starter. The service was so slow that the chef and rest of the kitchen staff needed to serve the dishes because nobody was coming when they rang the bell repeatedly. That meant you couldn’t order anything else to drink because the waitresses weren’t coming to your table or paying attention to just about anything at all. It was so bad we decided against dessert or coffee. I worked in restaurants for 13 years and never have I seen anything as unprofessional. As the level of service is generally very high in Albania, I think you really have to look hard to find a restaurant this bad! I understand how hard it is to find good staff, but those girls working there just shouldn’t be. They obviously don’t like their job and are just not cut out to work there. And in the end when you are not made to feel welcome in a restaurant and on top the food was bland, something has got to change. What a disaster!More

The food we ate was tasty and we got to try a couple of dishes we didn't have elsewhere in Albania. Some of the service was pretty poor- one lady didn't understand what vegetarian meant and lots of items weren't available (few things annoy me...as much in restaurants that you spend time looking at the menu and then only find out what isn't available when you order). Location is great and this place could be great, but there was a general lack of care.More

Have been following the restaurant and the hype around it for a while - so this was a good time to try it out. First on the service: I had the impression we were left on our own. For a while I had the impression...there were more service personnel than guests, nevertheless they seemed overwhelmed and not so well organized. The menu: the selection of food is nice, the quality is good but not exceptional. Other restaurants in Tirana match and exceed that. We tried some salad with wild cabbage (great), fried brain (ok) and goat meat (good). Tried also local red wine, which was good. The waitress didn’t advice properly though and she didn’t bring a decanter … The restaurant: sitting is organized around shared tables (which is nice) - the restaurant had was smelly from the cooking and burned oil.More

We arrived just before closing and we’re treated so well by Nick and his warm and welcoming staff! The food and wine was outstanding! We highly recommend this restaurant and will be going back.

We went to this restaurant after reading so many good reviews about it, but unfortunately it was so busy and they told us to come back after one hour and we did and there was a free table. The food is really delicious, prices are...ok although you can find less in other restaurants. Quality of food was good but quantity not much. It took a long time to prepare our order (which was not big, main course, pasta and appetizer). Can pay with card. Free WiFi available.More

The service was really bad. The manager of the restaurant was unmotivated and extremely unfriendly und not helpful at all. The food was alright but way to overpriced. You can find way better restaurants in tirana for a more authentic experience a better service and...a better price as well.More

I dont understand the fuss around this restaurant where we just had very mundane food, dry quails with no sauce, although they pretended it was "cooked for 7 hours" which I am pretty sure it is not. Other dishes lacked taste. They didn't serve us...the wine that was recommanded, so we had to get the bottle changed for the right one, service was chaotic at best, main were not served at the same time for everyone, although some dishes were similar. On top of that, the neighbouring table was occupied by a family whose underage kid was looking at kid cartoons with loud music and finally puked on the table for the benefits of everyone. We had better food at a wine bar in Blloku.More

This restaurant is one of a kind. With a wonderful owner passionate by his job and his brother the Chef, they reinvent local cuisine with a modern style. He knows very well local wines and advises them according to our taste. The tasting menu with...wine pairing is amazing. Just go for it!More

I come there with my friend at 6:30PM. There were no guests in the restaurant. There are at least 15-20 tables. We asked to have a dinner but the lady gave us an arrogant answer that all the tables are reserved and that we can...not have a dinner without a reservation (Non of these tables had a sign “reserved”). We said we would like to have just a quick dinner and leave, but still she didn’t let us to seat (with no table occupied!). Than we went on a drink to the next bar and after an hour maybe 2 of the tables got occupied.More

Really delicious authentic Albanian food! They really care about the ingredients here, and everything is prepared in a traditional way. They gave a great wine list of local wines and it paired very well with the cured meat and cheese. Lovely location as well, near...the lake and park in Tirana.More

No chips and pizza as i remember, but probably they can handle all guests. On the basis of their locally made bread everything is doable I believe. Suggest to contact them in advance.
