About
We are an originally german restaurant but we have added some pasta and pizza to serve people here in the nearby towns...we also have a bakery, ( jurgen is a german master baker) and has passed on his trade to a very reliable filipino he has trained for 13 years now...he is just now in an advisory position and now and then checks on the quality of breads.

When I think of German food, I think of Schnitzel. My family and I were driving home from Bantayan Island on our way to Cebu City. We needed a lunch stop halfway to Cebu City; google found this German restaurant that serves authentic german food. I ordered the Jägerschnitzel with mashed potato. I could tell the Schnitzel was fresh because I could hear them pounding the Schnitzel out of the pork in the kitchen. The flavoring was delicious and served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. The restaurant owner approached our table, and she took the time to conversate with my family, highlighting the story of the place and her connection to Germany. The bathroom was immaculate and above Filipino standards, and I highly recommend this place if you happen to be in Sogod, Cebu. Some notes: Cash only and al fresco dining only

Beautiful gardens. Friendly service. Really fine Herman food in a peaceful oasis along the road between Cebu city and the islands of Bantayan and Malapascua.

My family had a sumptuous lunch at Borussia German Restaurant to celebrate my wife's birthday. This restaurant is a few meters along the Cebu Nautical Highway in Sogod, Cebu. PROS: -Accessible as this is only about few meters along the highway. You will notice the restaurant sign if you're going further north of the Cebu mainland. Located within the residential compound of the restaurant owner -A great place to chill out. The restaurant stands in a clean and quite area surrounded by flowery garden. You can even hear the splash of the waves at the back of the restaurant as this is also located in a coastal plains -Attentive and polite staff. From the time you're received at the restaurant until you finish you meal - the staff were there to assist us in all that we needed. If you're in luck, you might also see the German chef/owner and have a chat with you -Not too pricey for a good place to eat -Smoking area is available -Has good parking spaces. -Has variety of merchandises for sale - either mixed sauces made by the restaurant itself or international food packs and meats to satisfy you cravings -Their variety of breads are famous in Cebu - *insider info* - one the major group of restaurants in Cebu get their breads here -Toilets and wash areas are available close to the dining hall -If you are a regular customer, you can even call the restaurant to prepare your food in advance as you travel so they're ready when you arrive CONS: -Although this is branded as a German restaurant, the food is a fusion of cuisine. I think they only attributed the "German" theme because of the owner's nationality -They only accept cash transactions so you're plastic money is useless here. Will I go back here again if given the chance - definitely! If you want to have a good place to eat without breaking the bank then this is your go to place in Sogod and Catmon in Cebu!

Thank you for your generous comment! We do our best to serve and leave our guest a good satisfied feeling to the max if possible! Initially we had a very defined german menu but we noticed that people were also asking for some italian dishes so we started to offer our best in "italian"...you are most welcome next time you visit us! God bless you!

Ok so, I am German and really love my food- Pros: Nice Staff Ability to purchase a small variety of German products Has clean facilities The outdoor garden area is lovely and well maintained and it gives the place a cozy feeling. Cons: No Beer and NOT serving Authentic German Food More Details: Ok, the menu certainly "appears" very German and so I ordered the Jäger Schnitzel, a plain Schnitzel both with French Fries and a Shashlik with rice. Verdict: Overall the food was ok - (I suppose for most it would be considered good- but that's from reviewers that don't know how the "real German food" tastes) Reason: The first thing one needs to know about the food is ready made and frozen-and then simply heated to be served. That's a real shame, as serving a freshly made sauce with the correct ingredients is key. The sauce for the Hunters Schnitzel was for me, very disappointing. It lacked the authentic spicy flavour of a traditional Paprika-Field Mushroom sauce which it should have had. So unfortunately it was just a ready mix ordinary gravy, plus some sliced button mushrooms, missing the whole point of an actual traditional Hunters- Schnitzel. The plain Schnitzel (as far as traditional Schnitzels go) was not a "crumbed" Schnitzel but more like a batter coated Schnitzel- again it was not bad "ok even" but not in any way authentic and lacked again flavour. The Shashlik I ordered, once again not being authentic to it's origin, is only a skewer of plain chunks of pork with a sliver of Onion in between each bit of meat and heated- served with a rather ordinary thick "something??" sauce that came straight from a bottle the taste of things. I know that I am being anal here and rather critical with my review, and I do understand that I am NOT in Germany but I was so excited to find this place and reading mostly only very great reviews that I was overall rather disappointed with the food. I traveled nearly 4 hours to get to that place, deciding it to be worth it after reading a lot of great food reviews about how excellent and authentic the food was, and then I get at best, a good attempt at "authentic" German food- but to me it was nothing like the real deal. So despite the fact that the food is all pre- prepped and frozen, overall it was ok to eat- but please don't think or expect it- to be tasting as it would at home ( in my case the Schwarzwald in the southern region of Germany ). If you drive past- sure stop if your hungry and you can expect to have a pretty good meal- but don't go and expect truely authentic German food. And last but not leas, there is NO beer at all you can order- with the exception of 2 non Alcoholic varieties of Beer which I think was a Paulaner and Erdinger Weiss Beer- but not 100% sure of that. The one very positive on this very impromptu " lunch" trip was, I could actually buy some authentic German items such as my beloved Schwäbishe Spätzle and ready to eat Rot-kraut in a Glass Jar, plus I found some 300ml THOMY ready to serve "Hollandaise sauce" plus some canned Linsen-Eintopf (all of which I have not seen anywhere else before in Cebu) I have not tried the breads or the other baked items on sale Conclusion: The place is well presented and worth a look. I also spotted a nice clean little pool, that I believe to be exclusively for overnight guests. I think there are like 4 rooms total you can rent. All located close to the Restaurant - but I have to verify that fact next time if I pass along that way again.

What an interesting find. We stayed at North Sky Beach Resort a stone throw away and was looking for a "proper" restaurant and this was the only we found. The restaurant surrounding garden is very well kept and pretty. The restaurat itself is very authentic (we go to Germany every year). For authentic German food, well in PH it is good, but not very impressed. Strange enough they don't serve beer except non alcoholic one, sure they have their reasons. Expectations where higher than delivered, thus 4 not 5.

Very happy to have Restaurant Owners who accommodated us on an early visit on a Sunday morning before their usual opening hours. A 50km drive from the city with a group of 15 cars arrived hungry and ready for a sumptuous Brunch! And we were not disappointed at all... The place is cozy and breezy and away from the noise of the main highway. You navigate a small gravel road until you reach their parking lot and see lots of foliage and small guest houses along the way. The restaurant itself is quaint, and our group of 25pax stayed on the outdoor patio. First up, their freshly baked bread is probably the best ive ever had! I suggest you even bring more to take home! The bread alone was worth the trip! Their main dishes were also good! Over-all a great home-y experience. Owners were also very kind and welcoming. Will definitely be back soon!

It was the most authentic German cuisine i might have tasted. I’ve ordered the Nuremberger Bratwurst, it was delicious, & the mashed potato was one of the best I’ve ever tried. But i have to mention their butter, they won’t tell us the brand or where it came from, but it was delicious, i mixed it with the bread & mashed potato. To sum it all, it was a great dining experience. I would love to go back to their quiet, peaceful restaurant.

It was an Independence Day holiday and we decided to drive from Mandaue to Sogod for lunch. Finding it was easy since the entrance is a short distance from a bridge that separates Catmon and Sogod. A dirt track will lead you to an expansive lawn that houses the restaurant. Ordering is easy and the choices are many. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. We started our lunch with a creamy pumpkin soup with hints of nutmeg and black pepper, really yummy and the kids loved it. We also had baguette which has a crispy crust and soft fluffy insides. I had bratwurst, and it was served with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and a mustard dip. The mustard was great...the kids ordered spaghetti bolognese and roast pork. Both are very tasty...My wife had fish which is good for sharing too...The servings are big that merits its price. Most of the dishes are 200 pesos and up but it can be shared...the place is really laid back, quiet and very homey...they bake their own bread which is great! We also had lemongrass juice..they also sell free range eggs at 12 pesos per piece...Definitely a must stopover on your way to bogo, bantayan or malapascua or on the way to Cebu city from the north. Will definitely go there again if we travel north of Cebu.

I love the homey ambiance of the place. My favorite breakfast is German bread with eggs, homemade leberwurst, and Jam. I also loved the dinner we had with fish rice and salad. I definitely recommend this. Very relaxing, very nice people and excellent staff!

Friendly service. Delicious food. Beautiful setting. There's not much more that I need when looking for a place to eat. We stopped into Borussia as it was highly recommended by other friends and family. It was a perfect stop for our long road trip from Hagnaya back to Cebu City. We were a large group - 17 of us - and it didn't faze them at all. The ladies took our orders, gave us their suggestions, and food started coming out as soon as it was prepared. The family had a variety of dishes, fried chicken, fried duck, pasta dishes, sausages with sauerkraut, and goulash. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. One even commented that for all the different fried chicken she had during this trip (and there was quite a lot!), this was hands-down, the best. I would highly recommend and I'm definitely going back when I have the chance.

Me and my son Michael, visited Jürgen and CheChe's place yesterday on the way to Maya in the north of Cebu, because we where very hungry. We where surprised, when we discover a small paradise in the middle of nowhere. We where welcomed from CheChe and Jürgen. I explained that we would like some Sandwiches and drinks to take with us on the way. CheChe showed us many varieties of bread and we found a very nice full corn / wheat bread, and saw in her Deli some Frankfurters. Bu^t as a good host, she recommended us some FRIKADELLEN. So we ordered 2 Sandwiches with Frankfurter and 2 with the Frikadellen. After a nice conversation, because the know who I was, they asked me some questions about my business the Swiss Italian Restaurant Cebu in Cordova, because the hear from may guests about us. Back to the Sandwiches, they where prepared like I would have done it with mustard, Salad leafs and Mayonnaise, spiced well and especially the Frikadellen Sandwiches melted in our mouths... Go and visit this place, it's a real small Paradise where you can also relaxe and eat delicious food. They also rent some rooms and have a nice swimming pool and their lot is located also along the sea!

Located about an hour's drive north of Cebu City, this was our breakfast stop enroute to San Remegio one early morning. A friend who is based in Cebu took me. Only locals know the best places, right ? The owner is a German married to a local Cebuana and they retired in this beautiful place that has a big garden. The German worked as baker back home so he has continued his craft and now supplies breads in the city. The breakfast was delicious. There were several choices. My last visit was in March, 2015 but it was not my first visit.
