I cannot believe that I managed to find a traditional Roman pasta restaurant in the Philippines! As soon as I saw the menu I knew this was the real deal - Carbonara with guanciale, pecorino, and eggs?! Couldn’t believe my luck. What actually was presented...in front of me was a bowl of perfection. I make this dish at home at least once a week, and the chef here makes it just the way I like it (and maybe even better than my efforts). It was perfect, and even better than some of the Roman pastas I had in Rome this summer. If you know traditional Italian food, you’ll be left wondering how on earth the owner of this restaurant has managed to pull off? I even struggle to buy guanciale in the UK, never mind half way across the world. The obsession with getting the traditional dishes perfect is amazing to see, and the owner deserves a massive congratulations for pulling this off. The chefs are perfectly trained and can cook these dishes as well as any Italian out there. Thank you for the amazing service, and amazing food!More

Carbonara was the best I had so far. Best cooked pasta I've tried, sauce was just right and meat was superbly cooked. Simple and sweet.

Due to restrictions many items were not available. I wished it would be indicated not available on the menu item specifically. instead of having to order and be told later its not available. Better lighting would have made the place look brighter also a change...of table cloths and seats cushions as they seemed worn abit. Food ordered though was 5 stars. Even though i was given a false impression by the smaller branch in town that the pasta was hand made at the main restaurant.More

I am from Europe, living here in the Philippines since 20 years. Never ever had I such a bad experience in italian food. Toilets, horrible ... water running everywhere ... outside area a disaster. You see the owner doesn't care, coz every day new customers...thats how he survives. Drinks overpriced. A rhum coke 370 php? The pizza (that's why we went there) a disaster ... saggy, tastes like raw ... at the end look in the kitchen ... that says it all ... never ever againMore

This is honestly the best brick oven pizza and Carbonara I've had in my life. We were about to leave. The seafood pasta I was craving for had sold out already. Thank God for the rain, I had to order, and so we did. The...Pizza con Salsiccia and Rigatoni Alla Gricia are TO DIE FOR! Credits to the Pizzaiolo (Pizza Maker), and the friendly staff. Just sad that I have to fly to El Nido again to have a taste of this perfectly made food.More

This is perhaps the best Italian restaurant in El Nido. It may be located outide the town proper, but it's certainly worth-visiting. Anyway, it's just a 5-minute tricycle ride from town. The menu has a good selection of lovely Italian dishes. I would personally recommend...their spaghetti ai guanciali and salumeria. Service is good, the staff are friendly, and price is reasonable. Thumbs up!More

Great Pizza and Lasagna. The service is good and prices are more than reasonable. The only small downside is that it is a bit away from the beach, but if you look for truly Romanian cuisine, look no further than this.

We stayed in El Nido for 5 nights and we discovered the restaurant after 2 days, so yes, we have been 3 times for dinner and that was amazing, we are Italian and it felt like being in Italy. We recommend the restaurant and especially...the Pinsa which is just lovely. Pasta alla norma were delicious too. Great place, it is a pity we discovered it after 2 days!!More

After dining at Bella Vita a few nights before we fancied Italian again but wanted to give here a try for a change. We saw the really good reviews (on par with Bella Vita) so we’re disappointed with the quality of the food. I ordered...bruschetta as a main as I wasn’t too hungry and my husband ordered a lasagne. The beer and wine arrived - both lovely, perfectly chilled and great value. My bruschetta arrived and I asked how long my husband’s lasagne would be as I’d asked for both to arrive together and they said 5 mins (it was about another 10-15 but an easy mistake to make as I’d made as awkward choice of turning a starter into a main). My bruschetta didn’t have any basil on and instead lots of black pepper - it tasted like salty peppery bread. I asked if there was any basil and they said no (even though it was listed on the menu against the bruschetta). They kindly offered me the choice to swap so I asked for the menu and at that point the basil arrived - yay! It may sound like a little thing but it made all the difference and the bruschetta was actually quite tasty (although not half as good as Bells Vita’s). Another tiny thing - it was served in a bowl so was quite difficult to cut (a plate would have been so much easier). My husband’s lasagne arrived. It was SO dry. The waitresses didn’t come back to check everything was ok so he just put up with it as he didn’t want us to complain a 2nd time. We did get a discount due to the timings and bruschetta and the staff were really helpful. The pizzas we saw on the way out looked amazing (really authentic crust) so if you’re going to come I’d suggest perhaps sticking to those? I don’t often do bad reviews but wanted to in this case as I felt just a few small tweaks and the experience could have been quite the opposite.More

We went there a few days ago... We liked the place. The Menu was a big promise ! An intro saying that this place was the only true Italian restaurant in El Nido... It's not true ! We stayed in El Nido for 10 days...and we experienced many restaurant for lunch and dinner. So pretending to be the best is a real challenge ! We took two pizzas. Awfully thick and salty. We didn't finish them. Saltimbocca, the beef was so chewy, we didn't finish either. The San Pellegrino was ok !More

I will try to make it short for this review, the restaurant “ Ristorante La Lupa “ is a MUST for every Italian and non visiting El Nido. It is the best Italian restaurant I have been in Asia so far. Also the place specialise...in the ROMAN cousin . Here I had one of the BEST pasta alla carbonara in the last couple of years. It is made the proper way, no cheddar, no cream, no other cheeses but just the authentic one, PECORINO. And of course HIS MAJESTY : Guanciale The restaurant presents itself very well and food quality is excellent. You just go and try out, you won’t regret it. Forza Magica AlessandroMore
