Restaurant review - Delectable and economical, served by attentive, courteous, and professional staff.

Let’s start with the menu. Lots of traditional Filipino dishes as well as Mexican dishes and of course, some traditional American or western food. Amazing appetizers. Appetizers I ate during the 11 day day stay were delicious. My only disappointment was not being able to finish sometimes due to the large serving size. The prices were very affordable. I can’t say enough about the staff. They were attentive and when they were not serving customers you can often see a pair of them standing watch over guests who were swimming in the ocean as many of them are trained in rescue diving. The food was prepared quickly. I don’t think I ever waited more than eight or 10 minutes for any meal service. The free breakfast is also a plus with the choice from about six different menus. They generally were brought to the table within five minutes. You had a choice of eating inside or outside both with spectacular views of the private or shall I say secluded beach. I will definitely return for a number of reasons with the restaurant and staff being among the top reasons why.

I’m a nomad so in addition to food, wifi is super important. At BADLADZ, it’s great. Always working and never down. Having spent over a week there I am happy to say there was never a lapse. :) Wet burrito is my favorite due to the size. Nice Mexican food, Filipino options, and burgers too. Beer is well-priced too so you can drink what you want all evening.

Lovely texmex restaurant by the sea next to the yacht club. Very nice views and ambience. The food is really good, fantastic Chicken Fajitas. 100% Recommended

A very special place

Actually for us it´s a very special place. In one of our many travels in Asia, my husband made the pool training for a diving license this ressort, which was nice. Some weeks ago, we were on a motorbike tour and spontaneously stopped in Puerto Galera to have lunch at the ressort`s restaurant. After finishing pasta, a soup and canned coke, we didn´t stay longer, but started to continue our motorbike tour. Five minutes later, we both fell asleep while my husband was driving the motorbike, me sitting behind him. We have no memories what happened the next three hours, no memories how we fell on the street, no memories how we were brought into hospital and by whom. Luckily we must have been very slow at the end, because the bike had only some minor scratches, but we both had broken bones. My husband, who was a Judo fighter and therefore knows how to fall safely (if he is awake), had so silly injuries, e.g. wounds at his chin and at the back of his hands but not a single scratch at his palms. We both think, the most likely reason why this happened to us are knockout drops. Two days later we went back to Badladz ressort and asked at the reception for the manager. Without knowing the topic we wanted to discuss, the manager had a pile of restaurant bills with her from two days ago - with our bill on the top, so she could immediately check what we said we have ordered. I would say astonishing well prepared - think about it if you are going to go there!

The Police and the Doctors at the Hospital did not believe your story and i am sure no one else will either.................. Doctor Evangilista actually called and said you would try to blame our restaurant for your motorcycle accident and extort money............ Threatening to write bad reviews will not make us pay ! .............. We have been in business Puerto Galera since 1999 serving 100 meals a day so over 700,000 meals and you are the first people to blame our food for a motorcycle accident !............. So do not blame us because you cannot drive ! ..... Sean

Please try out there Special Burger! It's just so delicious I also ordered one of there Mexican food and it's the best Mexican dish in the City of Puerto Galera. I will try this place out if I were you.

Good guys at Bad ladz

After finding myself stranded in the north of Occidental Mindoro during the lockdown of Philippines due to Covid-19, I initially jumped into the first and nearest resort I could find. Whilst the place was originally satisfactory, after a short while the cracks began to show. Expensive rooms were coupled by over priced electric bills and a general poor bedside manner from staff. It wasn't long before I sought more desirable options and eventually came to hear of BADLADZ beach resort. A colleague of mine had already moved there from the same place I was staying and invited me to take a look. I was greeted at their impressive pool by manager Sean; an expat Canadian who has lived in Philippines for twenty years. He began to tell me how he formed the idea for the resort and dive centre with his Filipina wife and started a family there. As a bar and restaurant owner myself, I was immediately impressed by the immaculate cleanliness of the place and the diversity of their menu. I was pretty much sold on my move after meeting Sean and seeing the place. No sooner as my next payment was due in my previous location, I facilitated the move to BADLADZ. I was instantly greeted by warmth and hospitality by the staff and felt at ease when hanging by the bar overlooking the beach. Naturally it was a little quiet due to the virus situation, but for me, this made the experience more special and personal. BADLADZ has two options of residence; first is the hotel resort rooms above the bar overlooking the beach, secondly, the self catering apartments that are just a couple of minutes walk towards the main road into the local town. I opted for the latter, having being given what I felt what an extremely reasonable monthly rate. The thing I really liked compared to my previous place, was that BADLADZ gives you a photo of the electric meter at the start of your stay; so there can be no problems in verifying the bill. I steadily worked my way through their menu during my stay, particularly reveling in their scrumptious Tex-Mex section, an option that is scarce in the general area. The resort also offers a spa and massage service in conjunction with their dive centre; from which I only heard good things from other guests. This combined with various water sports activities and local excursions available, really makes BADLADZ, in my opinion, the best place in the surrounding area. I realize this review may come across as somewhat of a plug, but actually it is simply honest feedback from a person who was stuck in a position he did not expect and lucked out finding a little diamond in the rough. Ultimately BADLADZ is the type of place that makes you feel like you are in a home from home. Combine this with the idilic tropical view from the beachfront and the ultra-professional nature of the entire establishment, anyone will be hard-pressed to find a better option on the island.

Under New Management Food Has Suffered

Once was a time when Mexican food here was good, now it is barely average. Staff are not cooperative to special requests. If you do not know Mexican then maybe you will like what is served.

We were waiting for boat to Batangas and had a snack and drink. Friendly, quick service and tasty food. Electricity problem so CR facilities affected.

The food tastes so heavenly! A bit pricey but I think it's worth the price :) too bad I didn't get the chance to taste their wet burrito since we need to go because we might miss our boat. But i will definitely try it when we come back.

I've lived in Asia for 6 years now and this is the best mexican food I've found. The prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are huge, expecially with the wet burrito and nachos. Do yourself a favor and get some food here if you're in the area.

Best Mexican Food I have had in PH so far

the Mexican food is amazing, hands down the best I've had in the Philippines and that says a lot coming from So Cal. Not only is the Mexican food amazing, but all of there menu items I've tried have been great. To top it off, super friendly staff, and great location depending on what it is your planning to do in Puerto Galera. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for great food in Puerto Galera.
