Away from the high-pressure vendors and tourist atmosphere of White Beach is Resto Veranda, a gem of a restaurant where good friends can enjoy some really good food. A short, southerly walk along the beach or boardwalk will bring you to a peaceful place where...you can relax and experience Chef Franz’ and host Joel’s excellent cooking and service.
Whether a cozy dinner for two or a group of ten, the simple and clean setting allows everyone an open view of the beach. The staff is helpful and patient with your questions. The menu is large and varied for the area, with local and fresh ingredients used at every opportunity, and offers delicious appetizers followed by a wide variety of mouth-watering European main courses with reliable wine choices. Over the course of five visits we sampled several dishes that included spaghetti Bolognese, pasta puttanesca, fettucine with shrimp, and the chef’s favorite; a warm, mushroom rich risotto. The food was served at the ideal temperature and cooked to our specifications. The taste of the food was sublime and portion size was suitable, enough to leave you full but not so much that you felt sick. All special requests were honored and Joel was helpful with suggestions for any dish. My wife was very happy with her crème brulee. Chef Franz gave us a home-made feeling using the best quality ingredients and checked for our feedback and satisfaction with every meal. A pleasant surprise from the normal everyday beach eateries where tourists order a number three from a picture and get a basket of fried food.
Service was attentive, remembered our requests, and no one hovered or intruded on our conversations. On our last evening, Joel was able to spend some time with us over drinks where we discussed parts of life, the universe, and everything.
