I dined here on 2 April 2021. After looking for it for a good while, I found the original location with a sign posted on the door that it moved to 88 Baochao Hutong. Upon finding it, I was relieved that the waitress spoke serviceable English. I ordered Mr. Shi's Garden salad (cabbage, julienned tofu, fried peanuts, and sweet(ish) dressing) and a dozen fried potstickers. The salad was phenomenal! It is something I'd definitely order again. The potstickers were great when warm, but not as good when they cooled down after 15 minutes.
One thing to keep in mind for visitors without WeChat pay is paying with cash might be a hassle. It took a while a to find change for a 100 RMB note.
At any rate, I would definitely put this on the list of places to go if I were showing someone around Beijing.

Chinese dumpling restaurant but the customers were mostly westerners and young locals. There’s lots of dumplings to choose from and we were spoilt for choices but I particularly liked the pan fried curry dumplings. I think we can eat all the different types of dumplings here.
I wouldn’t mind coming back again to try all the dumplings they have.

It’s a good place to take visitors who want to try Chinese food. They have dumplings of course and also a variety of chinese dishes. A lot of the dishes also have some western elements. In the hutongs. Food is reasonably priced too.

Nice place in a nice location.
There is a waitress very unpolite.
Huge choice of dumplings but very very expensive. We ordered two types (one boiled and one fried with cheese) and these were disgusting. We finish with the sweet one (chocolate and apple) and it was very good.

Small eatery down a quiet side street with fantastic dumplings. There is a huge variety and you can choose fried or boiled. There are 12 in a portion and you can choose a mixed portion of half and half of two types. We had pork with cabbage, pork with garlic chives, beef with shiitake mushrooms and chicken with coriander. All delicious. We also really enjoyed the spinach and peanut salad and the cucumber with garlic. The mixed chef’s salad was a bit too spicy for our taste. We paid ¥260 for 2 mixed portions of dumplings, 3 salads, 3 beers and one tea.

A great dumpling spot for visitors to Beijing. It’s a bit of a hidden gem tucked into the side of a Hutong lane. But one you’re inside it feels like a charming mosh up of Beijing courtyard life meeting something of an alter ego of it owner - the eponymous Mr Shi. Traditional dumplings or his fusion version, no matter - it’s a fun feed and plenty of photo worthy moments that won’t break the bank. I’ve lived here for years and always go because I like the vibe and the food.

We didn't want to eat in the hectic tourist street so we found a closeby place on a calm little street. We noticed there were mostly locals there. We had dumplings (they had menu in English too) and some side dishes. One of the set of dumplings they gave us was not what we ordered but it was good anyway. Cosy interior including a tiny "courtyard" area. Good price.

If you didn’t know this place was here, you probably wouldn’t try it - down a quiet side street and looks like someone’s back yard. But the food is incredible. Pork jing jiang and sweet and sour chicken were both amazing. Dumplings are also very good with lots of variety. All reasonably priced. 4 of us with lots of food and some beers was 475 yuan.

We had a great meal here. It is located in a side street so may not be so easy to find. But well worth looking for the little restaurant. From our hotel this restaurant was recommended.
We have delicious different dumplings on here. Both fried and cooked. Delicious! Definitely worth a visit!
And they have a map in English!

Simply the place you must go for dumplings when in Beijing! It is in the middle of the Hutongs and is authentically Chinese yet welcoming for tourists and ex-pats. If in China don't be a fool and miss out on Mr. Shi's. It has other great food besides phenomenal dumplings. All the food is yummy and the atmosphere is fun!

Ordered a medium steak and it took 45 minutes and 3 reminders to get it - turns out it was my fault!

Great little dumpling house in a hutong down an alleyway. The atmosphere was relaxing with both indoor and outdoor seating. Food was delicious with both dumplings and main dishes to offer- very reasonably priced!

Very good dumplings and vegetarian dishes in a quaint Hutong. Service is friendly and timely. Family style home cooked taste. An authentic Chinese experience.

This place lived up to the hype! They had really tasty dumplings, sweet and sour pork and hot and sour soup. The savoury dumplings have to be ordered in sets of 12 but you can order mixed sets with two flavours and six dumplings of each! We would recommend the cheese, beef and shrimp dumplings! Definitely would go back and would recommend to a friend visiting for the first time!
