I am still at the same place, Nokeokoumane street,,downtown ( town center in English) But, there is big change in my life: I got married with a man called CAFE VANILLE. I am still the best French balery in town, but my hisband added some...more activities: food selection of French food and, of course,,French wines, most of them organic. I am delighted with my new life, as I have been rebranded.More

The restaurant has changed its name but with the same owner so don't get confused when you get there. We ordered a sandwich and two different kinds of quiche. They are sooooo yummy. The service was great: quick and friendly. If we go to Vientiane,...we will definitely go back there again.More

Based on the reviews (and the price - we ate much better for the same price the previous day) I was expecting much more! Had the continental with tea (Lipton’s) and passion fruit juice (from a carton) and two croissants with jam. It was fine....My partner had the gourmand with eggs, bacon, baguette and a croissant. He was very full but said it was completely average. I’d have to agree.More

We have been coming here for many years; often for lunch, when holidaying in Vientiane. This time we had accommodation that did not include breakfast. So we were here every morning for a Le Banneton brekkie. Actually, more of a brunch. Loved it. Simple but...nourishing food with a French twist. Our only sadness, this wonderful establishment closes in a few weeks with the site to be redeveloped. Yes, a very similar establishment will open just down the road. But we happen to love Le Banneton as it is now. Some change is hard to take.More

We had just driven from Nong Khai to Vientiane but were too early to check into our hotel. A few doors up we found Le Banneton and three of us sat down to enjoy brunch. Le Banneton has outside tables, so we sat there to...enjoy the scenery and the passing pedestrian and vehicular traffic. I ordered the smoked salmon with salad, but asked for it with a baguette rather than the menu-list croissant. It came with a huge basket of cut baguette, a savoury muffin, and a side fruit salad. It was the perfect early morning meal to welcome us to Laos.More

As I stated already in the title, it is worth going there, if you like whole wheat baguettes. The interior is simple. I go there frequently to get my filled baguettes as a take away.

I wanted to eat "baguettes" like the cafes in Luang Prabang. The number one recommendation was this restaurant. Excellent fresh food. A variety of stuffings for your baguette. I wanted my baguette lightly toasted and they obliged. They have other good dishes also. Worth a...visitMore

Came here for our last meal in Vientiane, had a great breakfast. The croissants are great and everything including the coffee are on point. Seems to be one of the more popular places in town too.

Interesting interior. This is down a side street so is more "quiet" than "bustling" and too quiet for us. Coffee and patisseries were good

Very nice pastries, cakes, sandwiches as well as hot dishes options. Sitting outside seems a better option as the seating-area is quite bare inside.

I have enjoyed many visits over the years and always liked this as an authentic outpost of a French eatery serving good quality breads, patisserie, salads and the like. I like also that its clientele comprises French expats and doughty locals. Imagine my surprise to...find that attention to detail has slipped badly and the kitchen appears to have adopted sloppy habits that simply won't do. Management needs to be more hands on. My quiche Lorraine was ruined, its pastry case reduced to a soggy pulp, the telltale signs of a microwave at work. They should use an oven and limit microwave use. I ordered a selection of 3 French breads to go with slices of cheese. Imagine my horror at being served good quality bread that the kitchen had sent out toasted. This is not the way to do it. Bread is bread, toast is toast. Serving toast with French cheese is an insult to the way things are done in France. Staff are a little shy but polite. Some have good English language skills but no French language skills to speak of, etc.More
