About

Galani was established in 2016, aiming to promote Ethiopian coffee in the local context, whilst implementing third wave coffee shop methods imported from the US and Europe. Set up in an industrial compound, where coffee is also graded and exported, it offers a sunlit space for relaxation, and enjoyment with family and friends. Fresh produce from Ethiopian farms is served, as well as home made ice cream, and own harvested spices and honey.

Cozy place with great coffee, great food

Had lunch and drinks here today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our salads (Strawberry-Avocado-Feta and Lentil-Aubergine) were delicious, so was the lemonade. Stylish interior, perfect to relax a little. Looking forward to coming back!

Very nice place and great coffee

I would recommend this place. It is not so easy to find and the surroundings are a little shady but the place itself is very modern, super laid back and you just want to spend hours there. The coffee is very good, the food too. It is a little expensive and the menu is not very varied but the quality is good. The art exhibition upstairs and the local craft shop give the place a very cool vibe. Would definitely go back there.

Best & coziest coffee spot in Addis

I love this place. Have been there multiple times and apart from the amazing coffee experience (coffee drinks are offered in lots of different ways: espresso, drip coffee, mokka coffee, cold brew etc) I love the food offering and the calm and relaxed atmosphere of this shop.

Cold Food - Poor Service

Very disappointed in a place that receives so much praise. All of our food was cold. Came out at very different times. Staff was slow and unaccommodating. The ice cream, which we hopped would make it worth the trip, was thick in the mouth and unimpressive. Wish the food and service would match the ambiance...

Disrespectfull Staff

While the place has a nice setting and decent food, but that is canceled out by the terrible service from the staff. The serving staff is openly rude and disrespectful. After multiple visits to the place, I decided that the constant impolite behavior of the staff is not worth it for the place.

Nice Coffee. Food not great.

Dropped by after reading about their supposedly great brunch on lonely planet. I ordered a croque monsieur and a side of avocado salad. Barely any guests yet it took around 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Worst attempt of a croque monsieur I have ever had. It seemed as if they had found the most boring cheddar in town, and put it together with a slice of ham and some white toast. Then left it in the burning sun to dry out for 24 hours. Served with some steamed potatoes on the side. To sum it up. Good espresso, nice avocado, very disappointing food and confused staff. A generous 2/5 from me.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to give us your honest feedback. We are very sorry that you had a negative experience at our cafe. We take customer feedback seriously, and after reviewing your comments, we have communicated with our kitchen chef to improve our menu as well as cooking speed. We made an improvement on the menu as much as we can with the limited ingredients in Ethiopia. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you again in the future.

Bad experience

I found some thread-like plastic material in their ice cream at their shop at Lebu area. To make it worse, They were not very sorry about it and didn’t care about my discomfort and their worry was about whether I say something bad to other people about their shop. And I’m saying it now because the public deserves to know such experiences.

Great place for brunch

On Saturday I took a client to have brunch to Galani: it it a beautiful space: open and friendly atmosphere; spacious enough to have meeting or an ice cream with your kids; there are great books ( mainly in coffee) to read when you are waiting and don’t want to use your phone for distraction; the food is very unique with a changing menu, but always fresh and you can sense that the staff want to try something different, healthy and beautiful. I really love it !

Great coffee

Hidden in a non-descript building off the street, you would not know this place existed if you didn't already know where to find it. No signs lead you to it, and even when you get here, you couldn't easily tell where to enter the coffee shop. Once in, you find a quiet and dimly lit but spacious place for coffee. Ordered the macchiato and mini latte, which are very similar drinks, and both were great. There's an upstairs art gallery and a small shop selling some local goods. Service is not very prompt, but the staff are responsive if you flag them down. I would recommend this spot.

I was a little concerned when we turned down the muddy jumble where a road will eventually be, but then we arrived at what looked like a beautiful industrial art space. Inside is huge, light, clean, and smelled oh so good. The menu had a variety of unusual options—the beet and acacado sandwich was delicious! My espresso was great and my husband liked the turmeric latte. There’s a small array of scarves, bags, and other gifts upstairs and what looked like space for business meetings. If you’re on the east side of Addis it’s worth a visit.

Great ambience

Completely love the ambience of Galani. Warehouse coffee shop, very different from the coffee shop experience you get in Addis. Nice quiet place with tasteful decoration, and very cozy. Not sure if they have wifi, but looks like a good place to work from your laptop. Otherwise, not exceptional coffee drinks or much options in terms of food. Overall, I would definitely go back to Galani because of the ambience.

Amazing location, food not worth it

The location it’s amazing, it’s worth a visit, even though is quite far away from everything. The shop upstairs sell nice stuff, and the coffee it’s good. The food is definitely not in line with the rest:. It’s a wannabe healthy / vegetarian restaurant but the quality below average. That’s a pitty cause it could be a great place for a relaxing brunch.

Relaxed athmosphere, good coffee, good food

We enjoyed our stay at Galani very much. A splendit last das in Addis Ababa before we travelled back to Europe. The food selection is limited, natutally since this is a coffee shop, but tasty. The athmosphere is really modern factory chic, totally out of the usual in Addis. Wothwhile the trip across town!
