Gusto is by far the best restaurant in Addis Ababa. I’ve taken several business clients to Gusto over the past 3 months and I have always been impressed with the quality of the food, atmosphere, and service. I’m never disappointed and neither are my guests. Gusto truly deserves to be ranked at #1 on trip advisor. I look forward to returning again soon.

Nice atmosphere

This is a nice restaurant with a variety of popular or different types of food. You are welcome with the traditional bread and spicy sauce, which is kind of OK if you like spicy stuff. I ordered the pasta with Alfredo, my wife's order was not available because it was some day of fasting or something like that(which I noticed is very common in Ethiopian restaurant, especially meat products). Anyhow mine turned out to be great, well prepared. I also noticed that they are very good at preparing Italian dishes here in Addis Ababa. All our pasta dishes came out OK. However our dessert was not so OK, my baked cheese cake was a bit dry. The double chocolate cake was, so so. However the quality of service was excellent. The price was very OK.

Great atmosphere, not so great food

Very kind wait staff who tried to work through the language barrier between English and Amharic. I ordered a Dawa cocktail from the menu, but they reported that they did not have the ingredients. So, I ordered a Margarita, but was told they did not have the ingredients. I asked about a Chardonnay, but they said they were all out of the Italian and French. So, I had the Ethiopian Acacia. It was fine. I then ordered the Caesar salad and the pasta Carbonara. Many people love their Caesar salad drenched in dressing, as was the one I was served, it’s not my favorite. The Carbonara was served warm, but had little flavor due to a lack of pecorino cheese. I did like the tiramisu. It was served cold and was really tasty. Nice atmosphere and the wait staff did their best, but the kitchen let them down. Unless I read a more favorable review, I see no need to return.

I have visited Gusto hotel some 4 years ago and I went back this time as I fought that the food was going to be the same. What a disappointment!!!! We have ordered spaghetti bolognese & it was a disaster. I have never seen such type of simply unpalatable spaghetti in my life. The test was gross.

The time I tried to visit Gusto

I booked a table over the phone, told my out of town friends to meet me at the address of the restaurant, and turns out the restaurant is no longer there. Finding the new location turned out to be impossible and I ended up driving around in taxi in circles in Addis chasing my friends. We finally had dinner but not at Gusto. Where is Gusto?

Still the Best!!!

Our family went to Gusto on a Saturday for lunch. Our waitress was Etifwork; no doubt top shelf! My wife and I both ordered the Caesar salad as a starter. It is the best salad in this city! You surely think I’m just being extreme, so let me say it again, “It is the best salad in this city!” I told my wife I’d be happy to order it as both the starter and then again for my main dish. My son ordered the Cappelletti and my dauther the Carbonara ... both were heroin on a plate! The adults ordered beef cheeks and Nile Perch. Both exquisite! Then they gave us complimentary Lemoncello’s… actually, we haven’t received our bill yet, so I can’t assure you that they were complementary. But they are currently delicious. Oh yes, just received the boll complementary! And the wine is better priced than nearly any spot in the city.

Gusto is Back!!!

I know Gusto got lost for a bit. But who didn't over the course of this pandemic? They moved locations, closed down briefly, and had a slow re-opening with a very limited menu. This afternoon our family of five returned to Gusto to celebrate birthdays. Why? Simply put... Gusto is the best of Addis Ababa. Currently, it is #11 on Tripadvisor... But that rating is garbage. It's #1 in my family.Our experience today confirmed what we've been saying for a while. This is indeed the best restaurant in the city! And it doesn't matter what you order, it'll do the trick. My wife and I both ordered the dry-aged rib eye inculcated in butter. The kids ordered pasta and shrimp. As for the desert - let's just say I'm tempted to devote the rest of my life to obesity! And as always, the hospitality was nothing short of Ethiopian hospitality at its finest. Gusto, we'll be seeing you again soon!

Dependable Excellence!

This is one of our family's favorite restaurants in Addis Ababa. Whenever there is a birthday, or when it's our anniversary, or really any excuse we can find, we make our way to Gusto. The service we receive is always top-notch; the servers are attentive and cognizant without being over-bearing or annoying. They have a solid grasp of the items on the menu and can give informed and helpful recommendations. My wife and I recently went with a handful of friends and we spent nearly 6 hours talking and laughing from lunch until dinner time. And during that entire time, the servers were actively engaged with our table. And I think I always feel a bit endeared to this place because of the generosity and hospitality that they model. We've often received complimentary limoncellos from the staff, management (by the way we've been very impressed by the manager), or the owner after our meals. That little gesture goes a long way in my opinion. I believe that if you want to receive first-class Ethiopian hospitality - the kind I've experienced in every corner of this lovely land - head to Gusto. As for the food, well, that is why we go! Whether it's the dry-aged ribeye with the little personalized house-made peppercorn gorgonzola cream sauce that I can't help but always request, or the carbonara pasta (which is the best in this entire city), or the pizza - you know, in my experience it simply doesn't matter what you get, it's fabulous! The salad, the bread, the deserts, the coffee ... I literally just decided to take my wife there tonight while writing this review. And the ambiance is wonderful whether you're looking to celebrate a birthday with friends and family or desiring a romantic evening with the one you love. I think it'd be hard to find yourself let-down when entering this joint! And so, Gusto, I'm headed your way!

If you like,clean, nice, the top of the line service go for it , make sure you have enough cash or credit card . You like the place and the view it is located opposite the Post office .
