The food was good. And, as previous reviewers have noted, the service was exceptional. We had a taste for Middle Eastern food, and Bait al-Mandi did not disappoint. The cracked tabouleh salad was a better than acceptable rendition with a twist, adding diced jalapeño peppers. It could have used some mint, however. The fattoush salad was wonderful. The fried pita bread was the best I’ve ever tasted. Again, it has sliced jalapeños, so you might get a seed which will get your attention. The vegetables are “safe” for Westerners. Ordered the “half mandi” which was enough for four people. The lamb is cut with the traditional backbone as a separate piece which was a nice touch. The rice was amazing! The restaurant is tucked back off the street, so it’s easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. You don’t initially think it’s possible, but the attendants can wedge your car in the parking area. I’d definitely recommend Bait al-Mandi to foreigners visiting Addis.

I must say Bait Al Mandi is one of my favorite restaurants in Addis Ababa, the moment i walked in i saw a writing that said Karibu, welcome in Swahili my home language. As we Kenya’s love meat i had the half mandi, lamb with rice and the chicken avocado salad. The meat was so tender and soft that i fell off the bone. The rice was full of spices and the chicken avocado was rich in taste, i finished of my dinner with a complimentary lemon tea. The service was great and the restaurant was clean and comfy. Its a must try spot in Addis. #baitalmandiishome

It was a great opportunity to try Yemeni cuisine. The restaurant has a wide variety of lamb dishes. I tried mandi and it is roasted meat with rice, flat bread and 2 different sauses. My wife ordered fish fahsa, which was also tasty. Lamb broth is served complimentary. A very unusual tea offered is peanut tea! Service is fast and friendly. Unfortunately, credit cards are not accepted and alcohol is not served.

After nearly three weeks in Addis Ababa I went to Bait Almandi and it was a delight to eat such well prepared “Arabic” food. The only draw back is that being Halaal, no alcoholic drinks are served. The taste if the food made up for it. When I return to Adis Ababa I will certainly go back with others as one has to have more people at the table to order several meals and share as one is supposed to do. My only comment is that I struggled to get the waiters attention to order some flat bread, hence when it eventually arrived at my table most of my other food that was yo be eaten with the flat bread was already finished

My experience at Bait Al Mandi was fascinating, since I was fasting I asked the owner Ahmed his recommendation and he ordered the Meeze Solo which had Hummus, Tabulleh, and Babaganoush which had a side of hot flat pita bread as an appetizer. For the main dish he served me Fish Fahsa and a side of rice that was amazing, to close it off they served me complimentary tea. Service was on point, restaurant was clean, staff were friendly, it’s a must try restaurant while in Addis Ababa.

We came to this amazing restaurant as a family and we ordered the Bait Al Mandi full special. It was more than enough for 5 person's. The ambiance was great the waiters and the owner Ahmed where attentive. They offered us complimetery lamb broth and tea at the end of our meal we paid 1,300 birr total for all of us which is really fair. Cozy restaurant, will definitely be back to try their new Indian cuisine menu.

Impressive menu of Horn of Africa, Yemeni and Middle Eastern food served in a very clean, tastefully decorated and well laid out restaurant. Food cooked in an open kitchen and served under the supervision of the owner Ahmed. Delicious dishes with sumptuous helpings. Highly recommended.

on my visit to Addis, i asked around were i could get a nice dinner around mickey leland street and they showed me Bait Al Mandi. Since ive never had Yemeni food i asked for an authenic Yemeni dish and they requested i try Fahsa, a lamb stew thats served on a hot pot and spiced with arabic spices. Since it comes with Arabic bread do not order an extra bread. It was really tasty except it was spicy so the owner brought me yogurt on the side so it could ease the spice. The restaurant is very spoucious and has good service. The owner is really on point when ever you need somthing. I would definetly want to come back and try a rice dish next time.

Good Yemeni emeni food , there are two good Yemeni resturant in addiss I liked this one more. The owners ( Ahmed and his brother) try to take a good care of you and th they speak English. Foods are fresh and nice. Wellcome; you see a very nice warm wellcome, Staff: The understand Arabic and English, they are polite. Hygiene: quite clean, everybody were masks, Decoration: you will see mixed Arabian-Ethiopian decoration. It is not like "Michelin star restaurant". They have two types of tables inside table, and out side tables. Menu: You will see both Arabic and Ethiopian foods in the menu. If you want to try ethiopian food this is the place, They dont offer Shawarma, and chicken always finish early ( if you like chicken. Call them in advance and ask them to reserve a dish for you) Bathroom: I never used it, hence i can't add comments. Location: To get there you must take a taxi ( area is not very secure during the night time so be careful guys). The area name is Atlas area ( you should tell that to driver). On return: please stay close to the resturant and then take ride or taxi ( the resturant owner will help you for that). Note: Ride is an online taxi like uber, you can download the app from app store or google play. Note: dont even think about after-dinner-walk ( Even the resturant owner will not recommend that to you. Live music: they dont have it, Beverage: soft drink and juice, they also offer ethiopian traditional coffee ( in traditional style). I recommend it to everybody, Try the Half mandi!!

This restaurant is a must to visit when in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The food is delicious, professionally prepared and served with love and may I add inexpensive. The restaurant is neat in an up-market setting. It is decorated in a rich history of Ethiopia. The owner and manager is the most friendly and hospitable Ethiopian I met. He's hands-on with his customers and staff and is always ready to advise. He is also an excellent ambassador for his country, displaying a rich knowledge base of his beloved country. To the manager: "Thank you for your excellent hospitality".

A friend told me about his restaurant and I had to visit, we ordered the Bait Al Mandi half special and ate it for 4 persons and couldn't finish it. The price was very fair we only paid 700 birr for it. The service was good the food came in like 15 min. I highly recommend this restaurant for eating in groups if your craving for middle eastern cuisine.

I was walkikg by Mickey Leland street and i notice Bait Al Mandi, since i already had lunch i just wanted something light and i ordered Falafel. It was crispy on the out side and very soft in the inside, it really was tasty. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly. They have many seating and reservation is not required unless you come in big groups. They said they open starting from 11.30 am to 9.00 pm straight. Will definitely come and try their mandi soon.

I was really surprised how beautiful and cozy this restaurant was. I ordered the Mezza Solo and it had hummus, tabulleh and babganough It came with the Arabic flat bread as well. The portion was decent and the taste was amazing. There are many beautiful pictures around the walls of the restaurant showing what you can see through out Ethiopia. A must try spot.
