You must eat here!

After a dog event, we stopped here for lunch. From the minute we walked in, we felt sincerely welcomed. This part is really important; our server, Daisy was an absolute sweetheart. She and the young man who fills water, brings food and busses tables were incredibly respectful in, both delivering the plates on the appropriate side of each of us and asking politely if they could be removed. There was no reaching across the table. They were very well trained. The food. We started with 2 appetizers, Saganaki (flaming cheese) and Basil’s Chips (zucchini). Unique and outstanding. Entrees were the Lamb Burger for our son, the Gnocchi w/peppers & artichoke hearts for my wife and I had the Moussaka. All three were flavorful and enjoyable. The food arrived freshly cooked and hot. For desert, we had the Baklava Sundae and Galaktobouriko (orange custard between phyllo dough). We really didn’t have room for desert but, they were well worth the effort. We HIGHLY recommend Basil’s and it will be at the top of our culinary list the next time we make the 2 1/2 hour drive to the Chicagoland area.

Lovely Dinner at Basil's

Me and my wife had dinner at Basil's for the first time and we enjoyed it very much. The service was wonderful from the moment we walked through the door. The food was very nice and we had a great evening at the restaurant. We did make a reservation and went on a Thursday evening when it wasn't too busy. It is a good size restaurant, with 30-40 tables. I would definitely go back again.

Fantastic!!!

I picked it up myself because NO to grubhub! I tipped over half of what the order was and let me tell you it was worth it. We had the family pack and some items to add that I delivered to my parents. I will be back with my family when this covid stuff is over. Best Easter meal ever!!!!

Very Disappointing experience

Went for Father’s Day. Reservation was for 7.15. Obviously towards the end of the day but if the restaurant is taking reservations then there shouldn’t be any drop off in service. First off we got no bread as they had run out. We asked for water but didn’t get any and had to remind the server to bring it. When the food arrived we still hadn’t received any napkins or silverware and had to wait while our food got cold for them to be brought. Before ordering desert specifically asked the server if everything on the menu was available given how things had gone so far. She said it was. However after ordering she came back to tell us that all they had left was 2 pieces of cheesecake. As there were 3 of us wanting desert we declined.

Over priced and manager is not very nice

Food is good- we used to come here all the time when Angelo was the manger but he left a few years ago and the new manager just doesn’t do a good job. She is curt, unfriendly bordering on rude. Angelo would greet guests at the door- she just bustles around in the background. And if you do have an issue she is self righteous and not very nice. And it is expensive $30-40 per person at least. There are many restaurants that welcome guests but this is not one of them. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

New Years Eve Dinner

We enjoyed the place and the food and service were very good. I would like to go back and try a steak this time as I had the ocean pasta and it was just ok. My wife had a pasta of some sort and said it was excellent. Service was spot on and our waiter was great. Have to go back and try other things next time. Would recommend.

Better than Greece

Just got back from Greece and was disappointed with the food. Needed an American/Greek restaurant for my favorite Greek foods. Loved this restaurant. The ambience, staff and especially the food was outstanding! I will definitely go back and will recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family! Sue

Dinner and service was great. The baklava was really bad. First, it didn’t look traditional baklava. It had too much cinnamon, plus too thin and over priced.

Won’t be back

This used to be our favorite go- to restaurant when Angelo was the manager. He would welcome you with a smile and friendly “ welcome home” when you walked in. He would laugh and joke with you as he escorted you to your table and you felt comfortable and relaxed even before you ordered. Then he left... and there is this woman who is the GM- she used to be the bartender. Not sure what her name is but all that warmth and friendliness has been completely drained out of this place. The service has deteriorated terribly. Last visit we waited over 15 minutes to be acknowledged by our server and another 10 minutes for water. And we were sitting outside on a warm day with only 6 other guests at other tables. Then my friend overheard the woman GM trash talking one of the guests as she passed by the host station by the bathroom. So unprofessional!! The entire experience was a painstaking one of asking for silver wear then asking for salt then asking for more water.. you get the picture. There really was no service- just us asking and waiting. For a restaurant at this price point- $30-70 per entree, you expect better. I’m sad to say this is definitely off our list and the list of many of our friends and neighbors who have noticed the same deterioration of this once great restaurant I gave it 2 stars because the food is still good- I guess they did not let the GM into the kitchen!!

Excellent fun and loved like family !!!

Basils is one of the hottest spots in town .... it’s so inviting So accommodating... the food is really authentic and made with love 💕 . The whole menu is delicious we have tried almost everything Maggie is the new Manager and with the curve ball she was thrown (Covid 19 shutdown ) ..... is doing SUCH A great job ! The watermelon salad is back and is one of our fav - thanks so much for suggesting it Maggie - because we love it ! Angelo would be so very proud of you ! You want to feel at home ??? Basils is the spot Classy! Fair prices and such good food ! Kudos and thank you to Maggie , Nico & Maira

Our favorite Greek in the suburbs!

We lived in Chicago and always enjoyed Greektown, so we were especially excited when we discovered Basil’s while living in Aurora! Great food, never disappointed. We always get saganaki as an appetizer and then have tried numerous dishes, all great! I especially love the wedge salad with the special dressing with feta cheese.
