Our son booked dinner at Manuka for the 1815 session. The quality of food was first class as was the service, however we were miffed at the order in which it was served. Drinks came quickly and we ordered flatbread, wood fired potatoes with dip, roasted cauliflower and barramundi. First came the potatoes followed by flatbread some 10 mins later. The cauliflower followed 20mins later. With empty plates and serving dishes we were told the barramundi was almost ready. It eventually arrived and eaten on its own. So having order the food dishes together the main and most expensive dish took 45 mins to get to our table. That said it was delicious.
Three dishes, 2 x wines and a beer = $120? All sharing plates.

The food is fabulous. We had the flat bread with a hummus and pepita dip, scallops, the most sublime slow cooked lamb, and wood cooked potatoes. They serve a really good Pinot Gris.
The service issue. We had a booking for 5,45.pm. When we arrived, only one table was occupied. A rude woman ( pony tail and huge hoop earrings) tried to direct us to a tiny table next to that couple, squeezed in by the window. Uncomfortable at any time but a real worry during this Covid era! We said we’d prefer another one of the many empty tables so we wouldn’t be sat almost on top of the other couple. The pony tailed woman took a call and my husband pointed out a table to another wait person. Oddly, the pony tailed woman interrupted, albeit nobody having addressed her, saying she’d let us know when she finished her call if another table was available. Her poor manner and lack of common courtesy was so staggering that I wondered if her pony tail might have been tied a little tight! This woman seriously needs customer service training. That is why I’m not giving you 5 Stars this time.
We did get to sit at another table. We encountered a lovely, polite young waitperson, thankfully, and the rest of our evening went well.

Welcoming, competent staff; great menu; fine wine list; and well, just delightful, food. I consider myself a fairly decent cook, and it's always great to be able to go out and have a great meal that someone else has prepared, even better than I could have.
This quality is not available at bargain prices, so be prepared: lunch today cost us $127 for two, but with three glasses of excellent wine, which made up $46 of the bill.

Booked a table for a group of four. Restaurant was full but we were attended to immediately.Service was lovely and friendly and our waitress explained how food was brought out in a staggered manner so as to share. Working on this premise we ordered the first nine dishes from the menu. The bread and babaganoush was first to arrive. Delicious so we ordered another two. The feta, however, was a little difficult to eat as it was drenched in honey. The potatoes were crispy with a good dollop of sour cream which unfortunately lacked a kick. The salad was fine but the tomatoes had no real flavour. The olives were hit and miss too. Half of the olives were unripened and so couldn’t be eaten. I did like the fact that they were warmed. From here on it went progressively downhill. The carrots were blanched and in strips not cooked on coals. The cauliflower also had no wood roasted taste. The biggest disappointment for me was my order of pork. I received 3 pork fillets which were overcooked therefore dry and they were swimming in a liquid of juice from the cold red cabbage that accompanied the meat. It was only after departure I realized the duck is served with the cabbage. Either way it was an extremely poor dish and far removed from the ‘wood roasted pork’ I was expecting. The lamb, ordered by our table however received a glowing report. The desserts were all very nice, the drinks also very good. The restaurant itself has a great ambiance Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed with a lot of the food and felt that some corners had been cut on this particular evening.

Felt rushed from start to finish, and were “reminded” numerous times that we only have the table for two hours! - then when it came to dessert we were again told “If you want dessert, you only have 25 minutes!!”
Terrible attitude spoilt a birthday celebration.
The food is ok, the menu consisting of share plates, many of which aren’t really suitable for sharing.
The flatbread to start was delicious, the measly portion of smoked nuts worked out at nearly 50cents a nut and the olives even more.
Delicious pork chop....but a chop to share - really?
Wines were seriously average but overpriced as is the food.
First and last visit to Manuka based on attitude and value.
We really would not recommend based on this experience.

They're innovating, finely blending flavours and textures, with a generally delightful menu that changes frequently. Fine food.
They're not cheap: lunch today for two, with two glasses of wine came to $93, but then one pays for quality, doesn't one?
Excellent food, excellent wine list, friendly and efficient staff, a pure delight. Becoming one of my Freo favourites.
We booked, and were glad we did.

I can’t fault the food, however when a table of 4 of us dines & spends $350 on Dinner, you’d want the whole experience not just the food, service was good initially then the older lady (looked in charge) dropped of our bread, said ‘you have 2 hours’, from here we seemed under the clock watch, we ordered accordingly but as we added another entree we got the cold stare…..seriously enjoyed the food & our selections but upon ordering dessert we got the 15 minute warning then unbelievably got the 10 minute reminder as desserts served (yes 5 minutes), our friend who made the booking said no mention was made of a 2 hour limit per dining. We left a bit perplexed as the small empty table next to us was being prepared with new settings for our table, she made a point of clinging the settings glasses together as a final warning…….that’s how it felt !!
Shame really, on the street at 8.15pm.

This was our first visit and definitely won't be our last. There was a welcoming atmosphere from the moment you walk in the door, the staff were friendly and happy to answer any questions. The food was brilliant and made the most of local produce, it's amazing what they make in a kitchen with no electricity or gas and the flavor is second to none

Some tasty dishes, however when it’s being thrown at you as fast as possible, it’s hardly enjoyable. Our group had the chefs tasting menu. I can’t ever recall being thrown dishes in such quick succession, no clearing of dishes or plates before the next is served… even the complete lack of table space wasn’t a hint to staff just to slow down. We literally had dishes stacked on top of each other! Was like a race to get you fed and kick you out!
If you’re going to confine guests to such a short sitting time, suggest you drop this tasting menu as it borders on ridiculous.

Wonderful small restaurant in Fremantle. We went for a weekday lunch with pram in tow and they couldn’t have been more accommodating, the head chef even approaching and asking if we’d like the volume on the speaker closer to us lowered.
Food was exceptional, the only problem deciding what to have! My wife, the self proclaimed olive connoisseur, thoroughly enjoyed their offering and myself, the bread connoisseur, almost filled myself up on the flatbread (must add the bone marrow butter!).
The aged feta and honeycomb, wood roasted potatoes, and mushroom pizza left us in no doubt we’d be returning.
Service very friendly, relaxed, and professional, great atmosphere, and good value wine list. Ticked every box.

Terrific restaurant open — at least for the moment — for lunch, my main meal of the day.
Wonderful, beautifully flavoured food, and nicely presented. Delicious wine list, friendly staff and — air conditioned!!! (Don't think you'll be going into a wood-fired oven on a 40° day! :-)
Great to have this excellent restaurant back for lunches.
Be forewarned, though, good things don't come cheap: the dishes shown in the photos and two glasses of wine came to $103...

Last weekend, four of us enjoyed a fine lunch at this popular restaurant. Despite being booked out (we got our seats after being on standby) we could not fault the friendly service. We began our share plates with a bowl of wide-fired olives, two serves of flatbread, hummus and an excellent duck parfait. The warm olives were quite hot to start with but were a new and enjoyable experience. The hummus was tremendous value and very tasty while the duck parfait with a cider jelly was the outstanding dish of the day.
For mains we shared 3 plates. The king prawn pizza had a nice kick with the chilli oil but some slices were devoid of prawns. The octopus dish was well received but it was noted the texture varied from tender to chewy. The final dish served was Wagyu beef cheeks. These were melt in the mouth tender but, personally, I found the sauce had too much of a tomato flavour.
We accompanied our meal with a bottle of red while one of our group enjoyed a glass of white. But for a couple of minor issues with our main dishes, I would have awarded this restaurant 5 stars, As it was, it was a really good dining experience.

Booked a table for two a while back as its always solidly booked. And it was full on Friday night, special occasion as we were celebrating our anniversary.
It was a fantastic meal from the first to last mouthful. My wife and I opted for the chefs tasting menu. Six course including dessert.
You honestly think its not that much food, but you'll be wrong. Perfect amount, perfect portion sizes.
We couldn't find fault in any course. From the hot olives, oven baked bread and baba ganoush, feta with honey, asparagus with finely grated Parma cheese, incredibly tasty prawns and pork belly to die for. Dessert was balanced and engineered to cut through all the courses perfectly.
Drinks were great as well. Service was friendly and in our opinion faultless as well as spot on.
You have to do yourself a favour, book a spot and enjoy the smell of the woodfire as soon as you walk in.
The wait staff will talk you through the chefs tasting menu or choose your own from the menu. Enjoy!

Came here for a birthday dinner. We ordered several things from the menu and enjoyed every one of them. The woman serving us was energetic and friendly without being intrusive or over the top. Pure professionalism. Wine list was short but hits all the right notes. Was fully booked on a cold and wet Tuesday night - people were even happy to sit outside just for the chance to enjoy the food. If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know about this restaurant then I don't know what will.

No wonder it is booked out. This is a superb restaurant with a unique flavour to superbly cooked food. Everything is cooked in the open fire, even the olives, giving it a delicious and unique flavour. Above all this was the service. It'd have to be the best in Perth and the owner has clearly done a superb job in training them. We were blessed to be served by Sle (pronouced slay) who was incredibly professional, competent and brought joy to everyone she was serving. We have to go back because the food was so good and there are many items on the menu we would love to try. We had the set menu this time for our first visit, and couldn't fit it all in. This is a small restaurant with adequate numbers of highly competent staff. The ambience is perfect for the style of food. Book ahead if you want to partake of this superb restaurant. It's popular for a very good reason. Big fans of Manuka.
