Great venue with many areas to get lost in.Has 4 bars in different location with the hidden bar only open after 5. We ate from the back outside bar menu which is your typical menu, burgers, pizza, salads and steaks. My rump steak sandwich was Ok.

We researched and chose this restaurant based on the variety of dishes on offer and previous reviews. We were not disappointed. Every aspect of our dining experience was first class. Not only the range of dish options, but the ambiance, knowledge and friendliness of staff, quality of food and wine selection were second to none that we encountered on both the West and East coast. The irony of the whole experience was that it was one of the most reasonably priced meals we have had whilst visiting Australia too. Would completely recommend, and visit again when in the area.

I enjoyed a delightful lunch with friends over the recent long weekend. The venue is the old synagogue building on South Terrace in Fremantle. It has been renovated beautifully with no expense spared and it boasts multiple venues within the venue. These include two separate rooftop bar areas, two restaurant areas and two intimate basement bars. The food in the restaurant was absolutely first class and comes as small, medium and large share plates. The wine menu compliments the delicious food. Highly recommended

Really disappointing, 3 of us went to Arbour for Sunday lunch, we ordered 3 cocktails , told we couldn’t have a Bellini as no peach juice. Ordered our food 2 of us had to choose again as what we wanted was off the menu. Then food came for 2 of us and third person had to wait 45 mins for chicken. No explanation or apology. Falafel pita was so awful and bland, looked like it had been thrown together. Staff were uninterested and unfriendly. Won’t be rushing back to Arbour or recommending.

Hi Anna, We are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience at our venue and appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. We take reviews very seriously as it is our priority to ensure all guests receive an outstanding experience at The Old Synagogue. We've taken on board over 100 new staff over the few weeks since opening and we are now working hard on our processes and staff training to ensure issues such as the above do not happen. Hope you are able to attend again and leave with a positive experience next time.

I was looking forward to visiting this terrific new venue for Friday lunch. They’ve been open a few weeks, so I expected any teething problems to be ironed out by now. No one to greet patrons, bar staff were dull and uninterested. $18 for a zucchini salad on the menu under main courses was a joke. The flavours were nice and fresh, but it was fist sized... More like a $8/9 side dish. The chicken burger (also $18) was 2 tenderloins between 2 small slices of untoasted, plain ciabatta (not pumpkin as per the menu). Very disappointing and I won’t be back in a hurry.

We ate here, had crispy fish wings, two small curry puff type items and noodle marsala type dish. The food is tasty enough but very expensive for small helpings. Two small tasty type curry puffs was $7. Needed four for that price. Crispy fish wings had a lot of bone so felt like you were eating offcuts dressed up fancy style. Sharing food probably not appropriate in today's covid world unless just with your partner. Overall, good service but very overpriced.

Unquestionably some of the worse pub food I have ever eaten. Wood fired eggplant with Labne and crispy chickpea, well we got some microwaved eggplant and non of the other! $18. Prawn pizza which had 5 small prawns the size of 10c pieces for $24! Dominos make a far better pizza for $5. And the worst steak sandwich imaginable. 40 grams of steak served up in a Woolworths hotdog bun....$24. Even a roadhouse on the Nullarbor plain would be embarrassed with (a) serving this tripe up and (b) fleecing us for $66. Never ever again, this review doesn’t relate to Tonic & Ginger which has fantastic food.

Hi Captain! I am so sorry to hear about your poor experience with our food. This is not at all the usual high standard we pride ourselves on. No excuses, we will investigate with our head chef and make suitable improvements. Thank you for letting us know - without knowing we cannot hope to improve. I do hope to welcome you back to The Old Synagogue again soon!

Booked our table for 8pm. Arrived on time and we’re shown to our table. Took a few minutes to choose some bites to share for starters and a bottle of wine. By the time we reached the end of our 1st glass they had served every dish on the table and before we could even finish the entrees the main was plonked down and it was only 8.20pm. Everything was so rushed it felt like the staff just wanted to close up and go home as there was only a couple of customers at this time. We were so looking forward to taking our time to sample the menu and finish off with a desert and night cap. Didn’t even get that far. The manager approached us and apologized and deducted the wine from the bill ( which we weren’t expecting), but so let down. On the food side the bites were really good , but the main Rendang was chewy and no caramelization on the meat. ( pretty poor Rendang). The sticky Jasmine rice was so sticky it didn’t want to leave the spoon. Overall we were expecting so much and left feeling very disappointed.

We were amazed by the amount of food served in the ‘feed me’ menu; such value for money. Plus we were able to have vegan options for one couple and a meat selection for the other couple. The food was divine, the service excellent and the ambience truly wonderful. Would highly recommend.

The “Feed Me” option at $72.00 per person was terrific value for money. Food was plentiful and of excellent quality. Before ordering the meal the wait staff asked of allergies, likes, dislikes etc. thus tailored the menus to suit. Would recommend to locals and visitors alike.

We managed to walk in to the main restaurant on a Sunday previously having been unable to book on line. Its a very interesting rebuild of what was a semi derelict synagogue for over 10 years. Fascinating interior. The food is modern australian asian and was excellent. Service was good and being a modern build despite it being packed you could actually hear what people were saying due to sound cladding. The other bars and pizza places are packed within this innovative build. The male loos are worth a visit with some novel - I assume one way glass onto the corridor - at head height of course. regards Livarot

Enjoyed a wonderful dining experience at Tonic + Ginger, set inside a historic old Synagogue with beautiful ambience and warm, welcoming service. The menu is full of variety and so much flavour. The Feed Me option was such great value, you won't go home hungry. If you enjoy a paired wine with your meal on a night out - this is the place for you!

Gorgeous atmosphere in this warm rustic venue with high ceilings and beautiful vintage 70s globes. Our final course of yellow fish curry was delicious but our two starters were very disappointing - we paid $12 for dumplings and received just two small ordinary dumplings with no dipping sauce. Then a chicken san choy bow which was ok but nothing to write home about. The serves were all on the small side and it felt there was a lack of generosity coming from the kitchen. The wait staff however were lovely - very friendly and accommodating.

We had a most enjoyable lunch at Tonic and Ginger, part of the Old Synagogue in Fremantle, WA. Although it was a cold, blustery and rainy day, the ambience and service were both warm and welcoming. We did not have a booking but were cheerfully accommodated and quickly seated and drinks order taken. The menu was explained and provided a variety of eating options from their ‘Feasting’ at $66pp - 3 courses to choices or bites, sides and mains. We chose the latter and had brisket dumplings, firecracker cauliflower and curried duck legs. All were delicious but my highlight was the cauliflower. Tender, spicy and delicious. This restaurant is well worth a visit and I will be telling friends and family to give it a go.

We had a lovely evening at Tonic & Ginger. We chose the "Feed Me" option, which was incredible, so nice to sit back and wait for all the delicious food to arrive and just focus on catching up with a good friend. We went on a Tuesday night and it was full with a line out the door! Would recommend booking to avoid disappointment.
