I know that it is normal for people to complain about service being too slow, but it can also be something to complain about when it is too fast..... my husband and I went to Lions & Tigers last night for an EVENING out. We arrived and were promptly shown to our table, service for drinks took about 10 - 15 minutes and then all the service went into overdrive and that depsite us asking for them to slow down. We ordered poppadams and the drinks, which we said we wanted BEFORE our starter of onion bhajis, but no the bhajis arrived whilst we were still eating on our poppadams. the bread which I had specifically asked to be served with my main course arrived with the bhajis and the main course came almost as soon as I had put my knife and fork down, from eating the starter. The food was delicious in every way lovely flavours but marred by the fact that the whole process from sitting down to having paid the bill and leaving - a real disappointment. They did not want our table for other diners and there were still vacant tables........ such a shame. I gave this same feedback to our waitress too.

Phenomenal Freo restaurant blending traditional Indian dishes with modern cuisine. Even with the absence of international tourists, it seems to be perpetually booked out suggesting that the word is rapidly spreading around Perth about the quality of fare on offer at L&T. Like many modern restaurants, the plates are for sharing and arrive whenever they are ready. Our exuberant and welcoming waitperson explained the ordering process and suggested quantities of dishes to suit our appetites. The roti tacos arrived and we were immediately blown away by the rich combination of flavours while the pumpkin, currant and macadamia dish was such a hit i had to be restrained from ordering a second portion. The only minor disappointment was that the lighting was so dim it was hard to see the colours and contrasts on our plates . Regardless, we will be heading back to L&T as soon as our desire for Indian food arises again (if they are not completely booked out by then).

Have been several times with friends for dinner and a couple of times for lunch. Reliably good service at both bar and restaurant area, staff always keen to advise on dishes and drinks. Amazing naan (good old Steve) and unusual and tasty cocktails to accompany. The chilled reds are also a winner! The sharing plates make it an easy dinner with friends, with more substantial dishes also available - their take on chicken tikka is delightful. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Service great but, that was where it stopped. Food mediocre and the flavours were just not there. We were incredibly disappointed. Skip the Naan bread if you want to feed more than one person - yes, it’s $9.00 and very small. Curry was made up of chicken thighs (obviously not cooked for long to let the flavours develop) on top of Kale with a tasteless sauce on top of them. I love Duck Duck Bruce which is the other cafe the owners have - so have been wanting to try Lions and Tigers for some time. Not great.

After being recommended by an acquaintance to dine here, the better half & I decided to book for our wedding anniversary. Even though it was a rainy night, upon arrival, the establishment was heaving with punters whom seemed to be enjoying their dining experience. After briefly going over the menu, we decided to have a crack at “the less reading, more good times” option. It was definitely the way to go. First to arrive was the papadums with a delightful yogurt accomplishment, tasty chutney & picked vege. Second to make way to our table was the not your average bahji’s which were delicious along side the saag paneer, winter greens, pomegranate, cashew cream with naan bread, magnificent. The almond & fenugreek masala, sauteed kale, roast chilli oil with chicken tikka was the standout for me but the rice that came with it was OK, not that warm & a bit gluggy. The dessert was probably the least favourite, still enjoyable to eat but very rich in texture. All in all it was an amazing dining experience. PROS: attentive & friendly waitresses, generous portions, solid tap beer options, lively atmosphere CONS: Small rice portions which was a bit gluggy & not enough of the delicious naan bread.

...to full speed and doing it right. L&T have been closed for lunch for a while, but have reopened as of a few weeks ago, with their usual great Keralan menu. This is not one's 'usual' Indian cuisine: it's from Kerala, in the southwest of India, and as a result is lighter, 'fresher', and differently spiced to what we may be used to. Not to say that there aren't great Indian restaurants around, it's just that this one is delightfully different, and well worth a try. Enthusiastic staff, great food, but their radio music is a bit weird! (Rap, not at all Indian...) Nice wines, all-in-all not cheap, but good value. Dinner for two came to $104, but ±35$ of that was for 3 glasses of wine. We'll definitely go back!

From the time we entered the restaurant the staff were so helpful & the service was exceptional. The waitress had an amazing memory, never took any notes while offering recommendations on various dishes & the drinks menu. They caterer for a variety of dietary requirements such as gluten & other items The food was amazing , we opted to order individual dishes rather than the all in $66/ head & were very happy with our selections. The desert is a must have top presentation & flavour to die for. We will be back. Booking at a later time slot was not out first choice but turned out to be a great result. The restaurant crowd had thinned out and the ambient back ground noise level dropped significantly allowing for good table conversation & easy to hear the waitresses explanation of the various dishes.

Proposed by Team at Duck Duck Bruce and quite stunning. Busy service in a buzzy atmosphere. Great to be able to see the working kitchen as we got a seat upstairs. Ace young Team with loads of answers and more importantly questions. We had the Bhajis and Kashmiri Chilli Tostada with Smoked Lamb Tartare - wow! Followed by the Burnt Butter Chana Dal and their amazing Naan accompanied with Whipped Ghee and Jaggery!! Also had Coal Grilled Local Octopus all cooked to perfection. The dishes are cleverly put together with a subtle balance between Asian and European ingredients. A real find. Good luck to a super young Team

Great enthusiastic young crew, very engaging, attentive and energized. Food is Indian in essence, but with a twist. Nice wines as well. The naan is great, the scallops exceptional and the curries spicy and flavoursome! We’ll be back!

Booked for a wedding anniversary dinner for two and ordered the chef’s choice menu - staff happily catered to our vegetarian requirement. The food was incredible (the bhajis were a highlight!) and the service was excellent despite the restraint being at capacity on a Friday night. Of note was the fantastic range of 0% beers which was appreciated. Cannot recommend enough.

Lions and Tigers’ - what a fabulous restaurant. It’s set out beautifully with a really nice ambience. We had an awesome Indian meal cooked by some amazing, passionate Australian chefs who know their food and the Indian flavours. The lentil papadums with a trio of dips and pickled vegetables were a perfect starter and accompaniment to our meal. The coal grilled fish and octopus were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. The burnt Chana Dal was full of flavour. The pork shoulder wraps, the green bean salad, the sourdough nan and finally the rhubarb dessert were all just superb. The service was excellent, the staff courteous and food fabulous. A perfect evening! We will definitely go back again.

After a very good experience a few months ago and a movie this morning, we decided to revisit this delightful restaurant, particularly because I'd noticed the Kashmiri chIlli Tostada smoked lamb tartare, anchovy, pickled onion on the internet. It didn't disappoint! The thali plate is also a great formula, with good variety. But today, the coconut dal was a bit bitter — I don't know enough about Keralan cooking to know if this was intentional or not — and the mung dal wasn't quite as flavourful as I anticipated. Perfect rice, fine naan and crispy papadums, though. These folks are doing their best to promote a fine product, and deserve our patronage.

Lions & Tigers was recommended to me by a lovely lady working in the Freo Markets and boy was I impressed by my dining experience. Super friendly, helpful staff who walked me through the vegan options on the menu, beautiful atmosphere and the food was ridiculously good. I couldn't quite find the words when asked by staff how my meal was. Absolutely, 100% highly recommend!

This place has always been good, but today's food was exceptional! The waitress was most helpful in describing the dishes, the service was great, and the food was remarkable. They've changed their menu, and this one's a ripper. The food isn't all that cheap, but then one mays for quality. The wine's a bit overpriced ($14/glass for a delicious pinot noir). Good value, though! It's a bit off the beaten track, but well 'worth the detour', as Michelin would say! Highly recommended.

Ate there last Friday night. Service brilliant and the food was good too. One dish too salty (which waitress actually cautioned us on) but the others we tried were very good. Would definitely go back.
