We ate here last night ,delicious , full of flavour, beautifully presented. Every note was perfect , the meal, the light ,artful surroundings, the down to earth friendly people who welcomed us and cooked for us. We have been coming to tavira for many years...and keep coming back , we love this restaurant and note they have upped their standards, not that they needed to. Honed in on a high quality simple menu, local and beautiful surroundings ,cheerful , down to earth , staff. We have been to this restaurant quite a few times in the past and always enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere of sitting outside in such a lovely street. However, we learned afterwards that they have refurbished the restaurant and changed the menu. We did...not enjoy the food as much as previously and found it hard to see the food we were eating due to the poor lighting outside the restaurant. Should have left things as they were as it was fine before.More

We spent out last night in the small town of Tavira, and a wonderful restaurant - O Tonel. We had made a reservation for 9 PM but came early and they promptly seated us. We did notice the room is very bright, maybe some dimmer...lights would create a bit more of a romantic mood, but oh, the food was amazing!! We had Cataplana, Cod, Steak on a brick, and Duck, for our 4some table. Everyone raved about the food being the best!! And the wine was spectacular too. Run, don't walk to this great restaurant.More

We absolutely loved this restaurant! We shared Seabass and Steak, which you cook yourself at the table on a hotplate. We liked it so much we came back a few nights later and had the same again! Booking is essential, every table was reserved and...it's easy to see why. Great food, great service and very reasonable prices.More

We dined here on our recent holiday because our previous experiences here have been so good. This time was no different. Beautiful food cooked perfectly, attractively presented by lovely staff. Listening to other diners at adjoining tables, it was obvious they were equally impressed.

My wife and I came in here by pure luck. We came in because all of the outside tables were reserved which we thought was a good sign that this was a good place to eat. We got a table inside and had the most...delicious dinner of our whole trip. I had the Octopus and my wife had the duck breasts............needless to say both meals were off the charts. I cannot say enough how great the food was...........the service was fabulous and the value was exceptional. We both liked this restaurant so much we made reservations for the next evening and had another exceptional meal. My hat off to the brother/sister chef/hostess who run this wonderful restaurant. If you are in Tavira, you MUST have dinner here.More

Wow what an incredible meal we had here! My partner and I had the steak that you cook on the stone- so tasty! My mama had the duck- absolutely succulent and flavourful. The staff were so kind and their wine recommendation was perfect!
