We had a wonderful experience at Onyx restaurant during our trip to Budapest. Excellent food and very good service . Everything was perfect!

I wanted to do something special on American Thanksgiving during our trip to Budapest and thought the communal vibes would fill the void of missing out on traditional turkey dinner with friends and family. This was an awesome experience. I made a mistake and thought...our reservation time was two hours later, and the owner of the restaurant was kind enough to call me and ask me if I was coming. He held up dinner long enough for us to rush over from our hotel. The courses were creative and we made some friends with the people sitting nearby. My partner did the premium wine parings and I did not the nonalcoholic ones and we were both really happy with our choices. I think this restaurant is deserving of both Michelin stars and compared to other Michelin options in Budapest this place is right up there at the top.More

When I booked this restaurant for my husbands 40th it had 1 star - in the interim period before we arrived it gained a second. i'll admit its our first 2* experience but we did come with high expectations and were not disappointed. it was...faultless, the atmosphere was calm and intimate, the staff appeared when you needed them but other than that left us alone, the food - wow, it included things i would never choose off a menu (brains anyone?) but was top class, there wasnt a scrap left. its pricey - of course it is its a 2* (and i steered clear of the £30 a glass upgrade to the digestif) but it was so good i would consider going back to budapest just to go back there. note i actually visited in September 2018 so sorry its an old review - it wont let me select that long agoMore

This was the second visit to this Michelin-starred restaurant, so our expectations were high, but we were not disappointed by the tasting menu with the accompanying wines (a combination of Hungarian, Slovak and Serbian wines). Although not all outstanding, the wines were nice and perfectly...suited for each dish on the menu. The staff was very polite and contributed to the excellent experience.More

We're totally blown away, Onyx was an extraordinary degust experience. Our choice was the "within borders" menu with the duck liver pate extra and the wine pairing. The tomato and the duck liver pate dishes were to die for, and in the end the chocolate...desert is hard to find words for. The wine pairing was spot on with exciting localish wines. Next time in Budapest, we'll definitely spend another evening at Onyx.More

We booked this restaurant prior to our visit to Budapest noting its Michelin status. On arrival the restaurant was packed and given its central location not surprising. The food was great starting from bread basket to the starter, mains and desert!!! The amuse bouche wonderful...and a lovely linguine stew followed by pork and Mille feuille . We we’re treated to further petit fours which came presented with dry ice!! There was some unusual textures in the food and the service was attentive and professional. I am glad to have tried it!More

This is our second visit to Onyx and we actually flew to Budapest to have Valentine’s lunch here! Once again the food was superb and the service exemplary! You are not patronised, like other similarly high standard establishments, but are able to relax and enjoy...every moment. We hope to return and will tell all our friends to visit soon!More

We tried Onyx out for dinner. We arrived early but it soon filled out. We could choose from a four or six course menu; we chose the four course meal with an additional local duck Appetiser. The duck was excellent as was the trout, lobster...and crab dish. Service was generally good but did lack a bit of freshness and enthusiasm. Overall though a nice experience but not the best meal we had in Budapest.More

We were at Onyx February 2020. We had very high expectations, as we had heard a lot about Onyx before going there. We were not disappointed! The food was really superb and exiting and the service was excellent. Will definitely visit Onyx again the next...time I’m in Budapest.More
