Afternoon happy (double) hour

The Friday, Saturday and Sunday 3-5pm happy hour is amazing. Low cost beer, wine and champers with a huge range of sensational share plates at very reasonable prices made for a relaxed way to spend an afternoon. The waygu beef sliders were my favourite but the dumplings were a close equal second with all the other choices. We plan to work our way down the tapas menu when we next go.

A cozy atmosphere and good food

The Dux no longer opens for dinner but occasionally puts on a special theme night for which you must book. Latest one was an Italian themed dinner of 4 courses - a shared antipasto platter, then spaghetti carbonara as a starter. For main course, a choice between osso bucco and a chicken pasta dish, and for dessert a choice between citrus tart and tiramisu. All for a fixed price of $70. pleaseant backgroiund music was playing, and servce was personal and friendly. This is a small restaurant - only sat about 35 on the night we attended, with social distancing. An outfoor area can probably seat another 12 or 15 when weather allows. Check the website for upcoming theme events (wine tasting, lunch, etc.) or get your name on their mailng list.

Service with a smile

We stopped for brunch on a lovely sunny Sunday morning and enjoyed the alfresco dining on offer. A sturdy menu with the usual breakfast staples and a few more unusual ones. I had the zucchini and pumpkin fritters...which also came with avocado, fetta and a poached egg! Friendly staff and efficient service.

Dux of the South Perth dining scene

Dux is a favourite meeting place for South Perth people. They often say "meet you at Dux." It's at the corner of Coode St and South Terrace, right ion the border of South Perth and Como, easy to find... You can have a meal or have a coffee, both are popular. Parking is not usually a problem.

You can rely on the Dux

Dux is a feature of the South Perth gastronomic landscape. The food is always reliable and the service is excellent. It's also a good meeting place for friends in the South Perth area. Parking is not usually a problem, Dux is on the corner of Coode St and South Terrace.

Without a doubt, this is THE best restaurant in Perth

My family meets here a couple of times a year. Worth 2 hour round trip for. If I lived closer, I would be there all the time. The staff are so welcoming, it’s not just a job to them, it’s clearly their passion. Outstanding risotto, amazing citrus dessert, coffee, all 5 of us loved our meal. Nothing is ever a problem. Cosy, friendly atmosphere.

Great Place for Breakfast

What a lovely breakfast. Staff we friendly and efficient. Juices were fresh and cold. We had bacon and egg panini with chilli jam. Eggs Benadict and also a breakie wrap. Thoroughly enjoyed a family catch up over breakfast in a relaxing atmosphere.

Excellent Lunch

From the service (with a big smile) as we walked in the door to the very end, this was just the most enjoyable lunch. The staff were attentive and extremely friendly. Great menu and the food was fresh and delicious. Will definitely come again.

This is the third time my family have celebrated a birthday here. Worth the hour trip to. Outstanding food, service and coffee. Always made to feel welcome. The best seafood risotto ever!

Cafe with a heart

This cafe is fabulous,the food is great but the best thing about this cafe is the customer service. The staff are so kind and helpful and they can’t do enough for you. I highly recommend this cafe

Disappointing

The wait was over an hour, drinks took half an hour. It wasn't very busy. The breakfast wrap included bacon and egg on the menu and had no egg and was filled with lettuce. The eggs Benedict poached eggs - the whites were runny and uncooked. The meals came out one at a time and the last thing to come out was a plain croissant. I usually only do positive reviews but this was a completely disappointing meal. The polite feedback provided by us when asked if everything was good was rudely responded to. This restaurant really needs to reassess their service.

Duck out to Dux, it's SO worth it!

Another morning in South Perth, another breakfast to be had. Because it is right on the intersection of Cood and South Tce, people either says it's in South Perth or Como, but it has always been a favourite of mine and I am so pleased to say that it appears to be still going strong! Parking for me was not a problem as it was early on a weekend morning so I parked my car up the ramp behind the chemist on the corner. I took a short walk around the block, reminiscing about the surrounds in which I used to be so familiar with and walked in while the female server was still putting out furniture. I did apologise being so early but she was so smiley and friendly and her lovely nature put me at ease, more so when I noticed there was already one customer, obviously a regular was seated. Assuring me that I was happy to wait while she attended other duties, she cheerfully encouraged me to order and the food came out very quickly while I checked the morning's paper. On her recommendation, I had decided to go with the ('most popular') Bacon and Maple Crepes. I also had the mixed juice (apple, orange, cranberry, I think). I noted that other crepes were available, such as Banana, Lemon and Savoury (ham,cheddar cheese and spring onion). I was sitting at the rear of the cafe, having a view of a bit of everything, the street, the counter, the other seating and a little bit of the kitchen through the window. Being a traditionalist (Crepes should have lemon and sugar) but am so glad that I followed the staff's suggestion. It came hot and not swimming in Maple Syrup, This was a good thing as a lot of people just smother it everywhere! The menu said bacon was crispy, for me it was cooked perfectly, not so soft as to be too chewy, not hard as to shatter the teeth, I could see why it was so popular. I look forward to return soon as I had a few choices regarding lunch as well!

We all throughly enjoyed our breakfast of the savoury crepes, avocado bruschetta, x2 (even with the tomato sliced on the side), banana bread, eggs your way with extras x 2. Friendly staff & good service. Recommend this restaurant.
