Came here per recommendation from the locals who said Adriatic was the best fish&chips around. Our vegetarian burger was one of the best we've ever tried, fish burger was a bit dry, grilled snapper was quite small and lacked flavour, chips were excellent, wedges were well done but also lacked seasoning, both chips and wedges were not greasy, pineapple fritter and a donut were good. Looking at Google reviews, Adriatic is indeed the best, though we expected a bit more.

The products at Adriatic Fisheries is always so fresh. Whenever we want fish & chips or great cooked seafood for us or as a recommendation to others its Adriatic. We normally get a piece of schnapper, cooked oysters, mussels, scallops. potato fritters and a few chips, then off to the park to enjoy it all until the last bit has disappeared. They will cook it well done if you ask and nothing is a problem with them.

Wow, this is one of Whangarei hidden gems. The Fisherman's basket is my favorite. The batter is nice and light, the scallops, oyster, mussels, squid rings, crab stick and fish are fresh and cooked to perfection. Staff are friendly and make you feel at home. Check it out👍👍👍👍

A typical walk in takeaway but they catch their own fish. Stopped in to buy lunch. Service was prompt, menu not overwhelming just the basics and done well! Good value and we also bought some fresh fish to cook at home.

Wow!! Kai Reka e te Iwi!!! Was a little surprised at the price but heck!! Glad i ordered the Chicken Burger. Cooked beautifully, massive burger with salad, coleslaw and beetroot. Will definitely be back. Kia Mau Te Wehi!!!

I looked forward to having some smoked roe, as it is one of my favorites, however what I purchased was practically inedible. It was so dry and tasted old, consequently I had to throw it out - absolute rubbish!

Always get my schnapper and chips from here, always. Best fresh fish, chips are good, staff exceptional. If you hanker for fish'n'chips ya can't go wrong.

We received this recommendation from a local, and decided to do take away instead of dine in at another restaurant, as the fish source was the same, for a fraction of the dine in price. Since we were staying at waterfront accommodation, we ordered take-away snapper with scallops, chips and wedges, and it was the best and freshest snapper! An absolute must eat!

Used to be one of the best fish & chip shops in town. Overcooked & underwhelming was our order tonight. They also mucked up our order. Save your money.

Decided to try Adriatic Fisheries as our normal supplier had changed hands and not for the better. Our order & requests were taken with pleasant staff. All cooked in good time so then was the time to check it out. Snapper was fresh as and cooked lovely. Chips were as we asked; well done as we like them a tad crispy. Scallops, Mussels, Oysters and potato fritters were all exceptional. It was obvious the seafood & fish was all fresh and well prepared. Yes we will be back when its Fish & Chips on our wish list and we can sit in a park to enjoy them.

OMG it was so good we actually had it twice in our 4 night stay. Hard to find a better fish and chip shop. We ordered the ordinary everyday fish. It was battered and cooked as we waited. Soooooo good

Thought the pricing was expensive for what was received but have to qualify that and say the fish was really tasty and delicious and plenty of locals seemed to be buying and knew the better deals on the 'specials' up on the board to purchase. Guess I have been spoiled but lower prices where I come from (and the fish is just as fresh) made this visit a gulp and a half when buying a feed for the whanau
