Great tasty wood oven pizzas. We started with a superb antipasto board and a beetroot salad which was very fresh and tasty. The wood oven pizzas were very good on a nice traditional thin base. For the 3 of us 2 pizzas, an antipasto board...More

Visited with family from Melbourne! Our friends all had pizzas which they enjoyed, but were very expensive! I had the Toasted Gnocchi which was beautiful, but such a small serve, I could easily have eaten twice as much and just like the pizzas very overpriced!...More

Dined there yesterday. Sat out the front and was totally forgotten about as well as everyone else out the front. Constantly had to walk in to get basics such as plates, knives, folks, to order things ect. The venue was quiet inside but no real...More

Since posting about the forge many years ago when it was just an alfredton pizza shop we have been back on every visit to Ballarat and have not been disappointed. But the prices have crept up now and it’s bordering on ‘expensive’. $26 for a...More

After reading the reviews decided to try The Forge & took the advice to book. After calling several times with no answer I dropped by to make the booking in person. On this occasion the pizza was ok but nothing to rave about. A few...More

Based on our meal tonight, this place deserves 5 stars. One year ago we spent two weeks in New York and I did not taste a better pizza there than here at The Forge. And GOOD NY pizzerias are better than Italy. So, would recommend...More

I don't often leave negative reviews, but I do hope that this one has an impact on the management team. I have been at the Forge 3 times, and every time I felt the pizzas were average. I have travelled to Italy many times and...More

Our grandfather Frank was a well-known Blacksmith in the Ballarat region, and at the heart of a Blacksmith's shop is a fire they call the Forge. With a combination of the fire, great skill and plenty of hard work, great things are created. Take a look at our wood fire oven and you'll know why we are "The Forge". Established in 2010 by brothers Chris and Tim Matthews, The Forge Pizzeria creates delicious woodfired pizzas made with fresh local produce and high quality deli ingredients. We pride ourselves on pizza perfection, passion and a fun laid-back atmosphere. There is a fully serviced 200 seat restaurant in Armstrong Street, Central Ballarat, which complements the 20 seat take-away store in Sturt Street, Alfredton. We also now have two rolling mobile pizza ovens which operate at various events and private functions. Once your pizza is ordered, its action a plenty. Using our fresh healthy dough recipe, the stretcher starts stretching the base, great viewing in itself. The makers add the right amount of ingredients, which have all been freshly prepared on our premises, into the woodfire oven and then the magic happens. Fresh, healthy and woodfired.
