Perfect for us. While they were super busy, this place offered excellent service and a healthy heart meal of pizza, wine, and salad at a good price. I highly recommend the vegetable pizza and the arugula salad with goat cheese and pear. You will not be disappointed. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and the staff will go out of their way to accommodate you.

The host’s Alfa Romeo & Vespa were parked at the entrance to the restaurant which gave it more character. The car had “Little Pavarotti” number plate, they must be a fan of Luciano Pavarotti! The restaurant had quite a buzzing atmosphere. We shared a venison pizza and a rocket & pear salad - pizza was good, however, rocket salad did look a little wilted as if the rocket leaves had been sitting out for few hours. Despite that we did enjoy the food. It was a warm night so we had a table outside and it was very pleasant. Service was good and friendly. Did not have to wait long for food. It was very busy the night we were there and staff were certainly on their feet but very efficient. We enjoyed the food so much so went back the second time - shared a meat balls dish for entree which was very tasty and a Quattro pizza just as good as the venison pizza. We did find it’s a little bit interesting for staff to address guests “hi guys” most of the time. Maybe it’s a reflection of the high number of American tourists & our age :-)!

First, we would like to say what great service we had here each time, no matter how busy they were. And they are ALWAYS busy. We had an extremely efficient service staff who served with a smile, no matter what. We even saw a rude Asian click her fingers and shout "oi" at her but she still carried on without showing her disgust. Second, the food was delicious. My husband, who is vegan had a different pizza each time and made adjustments which they graciously allowed and he loved them. I had pasta twice and pizza once. All three delicious meals. So lucky to have stumbled upon this place.

Thought we would eat Pasta this evening. We had to wait quite a while for our order to taken. Then 40 minutes for the food to be served. I ordered meatballs and spaghetti with a bolognese type sauce. Fine for me. Tasted very authentic. Mrs C ordered Pollo el Pesto. Big mistake. Did not look like nor taste like real fresh chicken. Breast, thigh meat or otherwise! More like smoked flavoured reformed sliced meat. We complained to the waitress then head waitress who said she would place a discount on the chicken dish. I went to pay....No discount had been applied to the bill. I mentioned that Mrs C had given the Pollo al Pesto the award for the worst meal she had been served in New Zealand. The manager said that the chicken was fresh and smoked to comply with catering regulations! But then deducted both meals off the bill.

This restaurant was a real disappointment due to very poor service, we were waiting for food for a long time and noticed 5 other tables who ordered after us being served first so we asked our waitress when our food might be ready (the same waitress with an Italian accent who seems to have been mentioned on other reviews before) the response was a rude and extremely long and patronising explanation of what is a normal wait time for a pizza, she did not apologise at any point, we also saw her do the same to another table that night. The food came eventually and was ok but already let down by terrible service, we were planning on dessert/more drinks etc but left straight away. A real shame, go to one of the other much friendlier pizza places in town.

We (family of 5) came here for dinner, and after finally getting a table in the shade (they tried putting us in the sun at first) we saw the menu rudely stated during peak times no menu changes which seems very customer unfriendly and they should do their best to hear and try help all requests. So when I tried to do a menu change this older woman who was the waitress (some of the guys were alright) said "what's the point you might as well not have it, I wont do that" I was a bit shocked but the only thing stopping me from walking out is the fact that they were very busy. When the food came it was quite small portion sizes (the pastas, the pizzas looked of reasonable size). The only saving grace of the whole meal was that the food was actually very good borderline delicous. Just be prepared for your wallet and feelings to take a hit, if you want to brave it for the food. Better of going to the ranch bar and grill where we had an all round great meal.

HI Thank you for your comments especially the "saving grace" that the food was borderline delicious. You are correct when say that were / are very busy. hence trying to limit changes on the menu is imperative or it puts the chefs under to much pressure and creates mistakes, which slows up the service for all customers. When it's quiet and off peak we will go out of our way to accomodate even so far as with dishes that are not on the menu, as out chefs are talented and well versed, but when they are working under pressure this is not possible. As far as price goes that is a personal thing for you, many other couples and families comment that it is excellent value for money. The same would apply for portion size with the pasta's to add more pasta is not a problem but we strive to give a good portion that the average person will find satisfying and filling. Thanks Finn

The Ristorante Pizzeria Paradiso Da Toni is one of the options for a lunch or a dinner in Te Anau, a small nice Village at the entrance of Fiordland National Park in South Island, New Zealand. We have experienced two different testes of Pizza (jackfruit with barbecue sauce and one of Funghi and cheese) and although the pizza dough was good and thin we believe that the top of the pizzas could be something more generous. It was something frustratting. The toppings were in very small quantity, which does not match the price charged.

We had dinner here on a Monday evening. The restaurant was fairly busy but the staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. Be aware that they aren’t currently offering their full menu, however, don’t let this put you off. I’d much rather a restaurant that offers less but knows that they can produce quality every time. The chef was churning out delicious traditional Italian style pizzas with plenty of fresh, quality ingredients. We had the paradiso pizza and the lasagne special, both were well seasoned, decent sized portions. The creme brulee for dessert was fantastic too, not too sweet and perfectly cooked to be silky smooth. I highly recommend trying this restaurant for yourself if you’re ever in Te Anau.

We went here two times during our visit to Te Anau. The first time I had a BBQ chicken pizza and the Bolognese. The pizza crust was amazing. The creme brûlée and tiramisu was also great! The second time we ate, we ordered the chicken pesto fettuccine which was recommended by a server and it was also very yummy. The prawns with brown butter gnocchi was good, but not as good as the chicken pesto. The servers are very speedy to make sure they can sit everyone that walks to the door! They are very kind and helpful! The first time we came we did not know there was gelato outside! So the second time we ordered the gelato.

I ordered the Smoked Salmon Pasta assuming the salmon would be mixed in with the pasta and be hot. when the dish arrived it was a few slices of cold salmon on top of a rather dry spaghetti which was only lukewarm. When I asked about this I was told the salmon cools down the pasta. I was immediately offered the choice of having it heated up or replaced with another dish. I chose to replace it with the Pescadaro Pasta. It arrived hot and had a nice tomato sauce. My wife had the Spaghetti Bolognese which was quite hot and she enjoyed it. Service from the head waitress was good but the others did not seem to be well trained.

After a very poor meal elsewhere on the previous night of our stay we were delighted to experience the hospitailty and good food of this restaurant. Very friendly service, the owners were keen to keep service flowing but also had time to discuss liqueur options to go with our fabulous dessert, something I haven't experienced before. The Gnocchi was great too. Was a pleasurable experience for sure!

Took forever for our 3 pizzas to come out. Quality of pizza base very poor, thin, floppy, toppings just dripping and sliding off it. Barely any cheese on the BBQ chicken pizza especially. The little cheese on it was a watery mess. Attendant who saw my family come in nearly shooed us back to the entrance in a very rude, blunt, bossy and less than personable manner, when we were given a table it was imposed upon us that parents HAD to sit on the lounge side and kids on hard chairs. Again very inflexible and “non-negotiable” attitude by the attendant, a mature woman, who should know better about customer service. This older waitress constantly found reasons to pick on my youngest child who is a really polite and well behaved 8 year old who loves pizza. Their morose service left us starving and he was just leaning on the table or wobbling his chair and that was enough for her to very indelicately reprimand him as if us parents weren't even present. Such a sour person shouldn't be allowed to work in close contact with customers. She gives the place an awful name. The dairy free cheese ordered due to food allergy was basically non-existent on one of our pizzas, to the point that the toppings were dried up and unpleasant to eat. My whole family was less than impressed, we couldn't leave this "restaurant" quickly enough.

Decided to go here for dinner expecting to get a nice pizza with fresh and tasty ingredients as toppings since the price was quite high. All I got was a tastless dough with a small amount of cheap ingredients as toppings. Very disappointing.

Great tasting food and the place smells amazing as soon as you walk in the front door. Lots of locals dine there and it’s easy to understand why - the pizzas are devine. Be prepared though to have slow service, only 1 waitress/waiter for a large, full restaurant.

Obviously being a busy night with Milford Sound reopening we were not expecting to get a table at any restaurant with many claiming an hour wait for food and that was when seated. We opted for takeaway, on checking with the hostess we were told it wasn't a long wait, incorrect! Waiting 40 mins for the takeaway pizza, we observed during this time a hostess that continued to belittle and put down the young staff that were run off their feet. Even while the hostess was taking our order, she kept interrupting to bark orders at her staff. On getting back to the unit, the pizza we ordered was nothing like we got. Couldn't be bothered going back, just would never get takeaway from there again, all they were interested in was getting peoples money.
