HIGHLY RECOMMEND‼️😍🤤
Lovely, friendly, professional customer service from a young man who served us today.
The food was so delicious! And the portions are HUGE! Great value for money!
Me and my partner live in Whangārei, and once in a while we randomly travel to Paihia just for a lunch date and a little get away from work. We have tried almost every restaurant and takeaway in Paihia and some places look like 5star restaurants and are overly priced and we don’t enjoy the food as much.
However, now that we have tried the Blue Door we will go there every time. The atmosphere and location is great, the food is delicious and the best value for money and the service was very nice and friendly.
Will definitely go again. 🫶

The meals were fresh and the service was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the beautiful views. The team at Blue Door Paihia are attentive and friendly, I will certainly be taking my family and friends up - highly recommended if you're into cocktails or milkshakes! :)

Locate at the end of Marsden Road away from the main centre of town. Right on the shore line with seating inside and under the patio overlooking the water. The service was spot on with helpfulness and friendliness. The menu had a good selection of smaller plates, burgers etc. A comprehensive drink list as well. They were able to adapt to suit gluten free needs of a coeliac with ease. Reasonably priced as well.

Just awful. Steak was cold, fish overcooked, portions tiny.
“Leafy green salad” was almost entirely fruit.
Plus they pretended lots of tables were booked to shove us to the front (which obviously has an advantage for them) but by the time we left not a single one of those nicer “reserved tables” had been used. They just lied about that, plain and simple.
Did I mention the bad food? Oh yeah, and really overpriced for the quality.
While paying the waiter more or less looked at us apologetically like he knew they weren’t doing well.
There are really nice places to dine in paihia, just be sure to book them in advance. Otherwise you’ll be stuck with this slop.

We do not recommend this restaurant for various reasons.The facility is dirty and run down with 3 rd world toilets with only one out of three in operation, and that one with a broken seat. The menu prices are grossly overpriced for the poor quality of the food, Our hamburgers and fries smelled like chemicals and were barely edible. This restaurant does not deserve to be in Paihia.

Really underwhelming, we left so disappointed. Family of 4 $150, son came home and ate cereal and toast as he was still hungry after his $30 short rib burger and 16 fries (he counted them)
Two vegan burgers which also had barely a handful of fries, for the price we really expected more, the burgers were average.
I had the line caught fish for $42 and was offered Tarakihi which I gladly accepted as the line caught fish was Salmon… The pea purée was cold, the fish was very over cooked, the fennel salad was heavy in oil, the two scallops were nice.
Overall, a lovely spot, friendly wait/bar staff, but over priced lacklustre food.

Not a great experience unfortunately, burgers and chips are over priced for what they are, not good value there. My fish was over cooked and the fennel salad was swimming in an unpleasant oil. Cocktails were good. The place was empty when we were there, no one checked to see if our meals were ok, no offered us dessert, so we left. Not the service we are used to in Paihia, and certainly the food was not like their advertising.

This dog friendly restaurant absolutely dedicated to customer service. The food was delicious and the service excellent vegan options were not a problem everything was done to make our meal a delicious experience. Best in Paikia!

We had a Christmas dinner at the Blue Door last Sunday, a group of 16 local Japanese ladies. The service went smoothly, good food and great location. We all enjoyed the night. Thank you.

Really enjoyed our visit to the Blue Door, easily the nicest restaurant we tried in our week in Paihia and Haruru. Tasty plentiful food from an interesting menu, table service which we appreciated after an experience elsewhere along this syreet. Good value and good food so amazed at the poor reviews about it. The place was full so must be ok??!

Don’t know where the description came from “Indian/European” . The type of meals done here ranged from burgers, fish and chips, lamb shanks, pork belly, fish pasta, salads really nice, home cooked meals with a slight twist. We ate her on 2 nights of our stay in Paihia. The service was friendly and professional, the food was really good quality, fresh and tasty. Nicely done outdoor seating with a view, also indoor seating. Would book if planning to go but could usually get in if not. Would definitely recommend, small menu but something for everyone.

Just keep walking. The calamari was like rubber - you could sole your shoes with it. As for the sea food pasta - 2 muscles, 1 small prawn and 3 tiny flakes of fish thrown into a bowl with a small handful of black pasta. As for presentation – zero. Service was quick - just hope I survive the night!

We found this restaurant by pure chance as we walked towards the sea we turned right for a change. Very friendly staff and the fish and chips were excellent as my wife had never tasted a batter on the fish as delicious as this. The portions were good but not excessive. It was more than ample. The restaurant was clean with a friendly atmosphere and a great view looking out to sea. The owner was very helpful in helping me out with a glass.

Unfortunately this was not a great choice for my husbands Birthday. He ordered the Seafood Linguine (Large plate) and I wish I had taken a photo to post. Anyway I have never in my life seen an entree as small as this, let alone a main, and my poor husband went out after to buy some food. It was also not Linguine. I had the Lamb Roti (Small Plate) and would also not recommend this. We were with another couple and their main meals were okay.

Such a friendly crew run this place – it was a delight to eat here. We had a light dinner ordering three small plates to share. There are large plates and the menu is extensive. They make great cocktails, which got us started, then we had a small glass of red wine to accompany our duck and lamb dishes. Finishing with the frangipani tart with ice-cream capped off an excellent meal. Drop in and enjoy this special place. You’ll love it!
